Very recommended museum. The building is impressive for its shape (and view from the balconies at the 7th floor). Staff is super friendly and helpful. The exhibitions are very different from other places. There are in-depth expositions of two American, non-mainstream artists that fit very well with the current wave of diverse and inclusive art. It really supplements the museum offer in NYC. Something that will make you think. (Also nice: no entrance fee :) )

The art work was great but a trigger warning would have been appreciated. Staff gave us a bit of a hard time. We walked in scanned our tickets. Gave me a hard time about not having my student ID. We saw some friends outside and when we told her we would step out to talk to them she said if we left we would not be allowed back in. Instead they came in to speak with us. Sometimes with these rules people have they really need a better understanding of why the rules are in place. Smh.Then scolded for taking the wrong stairs because we missed a sign on the door.Building was very clean and clear. I liked how the work was presented. Much to look at. Rooftop great for pictures. Would totally host an event on the top floor when things become safe for closer social interactions.

Went there earlier today, it was a very interesting visit. The whole building (which itself looks stunning from the outside) was basically a giant Hans Haacke exposition, and worth every penny. Speaking of which, while the entrance fee isnt particularly cheap (this is NYC, after all), its less expensive than most NYC museums), with the caveat that, even though the building itself isnt small, the space dedicated to the art pieces felt smaller than other NYC modern art museums.Try to come on a Saturday or Sunday, otherwise you wont be able to visit the observation deck on the 7th floor.

World class museum. Incredible building and really edgy material. Fine art can be inaccessible, this was something else. Very elusive and abstract pieces of art. Only Reykjavik Art Museum compares. Architecture and art.

Fantastic modern art. The exhibits were conceptual and many spoke to various social issues. The seventh floor outdoor space was fabulous as well. I really enjoyed the variety in terms of styles of art as well as various mediums. One of the highlights for me was the interactive walk through exhibit currently on the third floor. Be quick when going through it though - while it’s a cool place for selfies, each space is very small and you have to move through pretty quickly as it’s so popular. I say this because, unfortunately, the staff had to intervene and seemed annoyed at some of the hold ups caused by people stopping to take photos. The only downside to this museum in my opinion is the fact that it’s a bit disjointed in its layout - there is no clear way to move through the various spaces and it is easy to miss things. It is smaller than many other museums in Manhattan but that’s something I personally enjoyed. Overall, a cool experience.

It’s an anti-MET, anti-MoMA type of museum. I am glad this kind of anti-institution museum existed to give us a much needed alternative perspective and narrative of art in the 21st century!

Excellent forward-looking contemporary art museum that offers daring, interesting shows that frequently engage with present-day issues head-on, and with this succeed in contextualizing very recent cultural history (i.e. the past three decades or so) in a way that larger, more slow-moving modern/contemporary art institutions in New York cannot. Because the New Museum is on the smaller side, it is able to be more nimble and take risks in its programming (and also doesn’t shy away from more challenging subject matter), which gives it a consistently satisfying edge you won’t find elsewhere.

Went on a Free Thursday though dont entirely know why they were open. 4 floors were closed (3 preparing a new exhibition and 1 only open on weekends), so there was really only 1.5 floors to see. Some aspects were innovative, after all I was initially recommended to check this out by folks leading Apples VR tour (who partnered with New Museum on creating that), but overall was a bit of a let down, likely driven by so much being closed.

Im a big art fan but the New Museum was well above my head. I can usually appreciate modern art, but this was something else. Definitely some interesting exhibits and something you can enjoy if you can understand it. Fortunately I got free tickets with my Chase Private Client Culture Card, but I probably would not have paid for tickets had I known what the art inside would be like.If you do go, make sure you visit the top floor for a nice view of the city skyline.

Never going back. Had to argue with security about my purse because it looks too much like a backpack. They were going to have me empty it into a plastic bag so I could carry my valuables around. Then you have an empty purse in security but I can carry my stuff around with me just as long as its not in my leather purse that looks too much like a backpack. Yeah, makes perfect sense to me. Ive been there before and the exhibits are only ok. Then they wanted full price even though two floors were closed. At least the Guggenheim discounts admission on days when they are only partially open. Not worth the price of admission. Go to the Whitney instead.

Really interesting space. The Nari Ward gallery was very nice, and quite different from what you expect from a traditional showcase. The view from the top floor is really spectacular, but unfortunately, it is only open to the public on weekends. The elevators are quite slow, but luckily there is east access to the stairs and those don’t have as much traffic. There’s a security guard positioned in the stairwell now, so don’t get a jump scare when you see someone standing around the turn of the steps.

The exhibits here are relatively interesting and for an $18 adult ticket, the opportunity to see different works seems worth it. Given the vertical nature of the architecture, circulating around the museum exhibits was a bit more choppy than most museum experiences. Some might say the spaces are the right size while others might think the spaces are a bit small. I liked the sky lounge which is open on the weekends and gives you access to some nice views. I will say the some of the exhibits might not fit everyones taste but they were thought provoking nonetheless.
