My wife love coming out here, watching the boats go by. So as long as shes happy Im happy.
Extremely happy that they were able to rebuild this lighthouse, after it collapsed due to damage by hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005. It took 7 years to secure the funding and rebuild it, and they have done an amazing job! This is a great place to visit, and the entire surrounding area is beautiful, too. Dont forget to visit the other lighthouses nearby, Port Pontchartrain (on the U. of New Orleans campus) and Tchefuncte River (across the lake in Madisonville).
Wonderful spot to learn about the history of the area and a great way to give back by contributing to keeping the lighthouse alive. They are working hard to preserve the coast and its environment. The guides are very knowledgeable and passionate about the region and about their work. You will learn a lot and be wowed by the views of Lake Ponchartrain.
Surprisingly great little museum with so much great history! The docent was so friendly fly and informative and we were delighted by the well done historical displays. Fun to be able to draw with chalk under the lighthouse too!
Awesome light house, not as bright at night as one would expect
We took the tour of the lighthouse. Our guide was VERY knowledgeable and personable. The history of the lighthouse is interesting. The tour was excellent. We enjoyed our visit and the views from the deck.
Really enjoyed visiting and learning the history of this lighthouse, which was rebuilt after Katrina.
Nice history tour. Worth a visit
What a beautiful lighthouse and great little museum. So informative and interesting.
Great place to visit on the lakefront. Take a tour of the museum and learn the history of the levee and the steps at the Lake.
Recommend this informative stop. Learn about the rising and rebuilding if the light house before and after Katrina, the delicate eco system and the forming of the NoLa Deltas.
Nice views informative tour although a little pricey for only seeing the first floor
What a great job they have done restoring this beautiful piece of history. Well worth the visit and a tour. Beautiful grounds, easy to get to and very beautiful. The gift shop is small and quaint but has lots of nice items and all the proceeds goes to help save the lighthouse and the lake.

Great place. A staple in the area. This lighthouse is a landmark and all around treasure.Recently rehabbed, its delightful, charming and altogether appealing. The rehab was done RIGHT!!!
Stopped by and went thru the gift shop. Right on the shores of the lake, in the summertime I bet it is really busy, looks like NO is doing a lot of lake control.
I am the owner of Yourdreamproposals and recently held a marriage Proposals here and it was wonderful. Kate and her staff was all in on the private tour and surprise. She helped with anything I needed to make the surprise happened according to plans. We appreciate everything they have done. Please visit their museum its surly a sight to see.
