One of the obscure highlights of my trip. For a modest entry fee up you can have a personal tour of the grounds, and the elaborate mind and life of Madame Broel. The dollhouses are a work of art and truly and example of how to absolutely crush a hobby and turn it into something others want to participate in.The dresses she made are exquisite as well, and each one on display has a backstory.

I got married here on February 29. From the beginning, Ms. Bonnie and Ms. Denise were amazing! We live in Baton Rouge and my dad lives in New York and unfortunately, there were some payment problems on our end that resulted in a lot of phone tag. They did everything they could to accommodate the payment problems we were experiencing with the credit cards and were extremely understanding. They really went above and beyond to help us and we can’t say how appreciative we are! They left the Mardi Gras decorations up (which the out of state guests especially LOVED!) and people couldn’t stop telling me how beautiful the place is. The food was wonderful, the staff made sure my husband and I had a break to eat, and they were constantly checking in with us to make sure everything went well. The DJ they recommended did a fantastic job at reading the room and playing music accordingly. I would recommend them to anyone, especially people who (like me) are very disorganized and might feel nervous about planning a wedding. I loved my wedding at House of Broel and everyone who works there is spectacular!

I hosted a rehearsal dinner at House of Broel. It was perfect. The venue itself is gorgeous - an old Victorian house that has been meticulously restored and maintained. The food was outstanding. The staff was the best - they couldnt do enough for us. Bonnie Broel is the owner of the house and she is amazing - she took care of everything including several special requests. She made the planning so easy for me. My guests were raving about the event - everyone had a great time. I highly recommend House of Broel for any kind of party!

The venue was beautiful, the staff was amazing, and the food was delicious, but the caretaker Bonnie was extremely difficult to work with. Since I was deployed and my wife and I live out of state our correspondence was by phone and website. That being said, we purchased a smaller event package to cover our needs and keep things simple. When making payments we were unaware that even with our credit card on file we still needed to both call Bonnie to authorize payment AND sign a receipt sent through traditional mail. Of course, we were never told this, and its not explained on the website, but we almost had the event canceled on us due to this lack of communication. We also almost didnt have a cake. We werent told we needed to pick out our cake (the website and Bonnie didnt explain this either), and we had to pick a cake the day before the event. Finally, at the end of the event Bonnie was very excited to collect the staff gratuity which I was happy to pay. Unfortunately, it was never presented in writing what would be owed, and I had to pull emergency funds to cover the cost. Our advice is that if you book at House of Brown please ask Bonnie about every little thing (she will tell you shes the only one who knows whats going on and to only talk to her) otherwise you will find a lot of surprises along the way. Overall our experience was good and the staff was professional and very accommodating, but I would never work with Bonnie again. I wish her employees the best of luck.

Kevin and Melanies wedding was absolutely BEAUTIFUL in the garden out back and the reception inside the home. Everything was handled so beautifully and gracefully with help from Denise and then Cassandra helping Melanie get dressed and making sure everyone was in their places. Excellent care was given to detail and making sure there was plenty of food and drinks along with the right music for the wedding and the reception. Bonnie was gracious in giving us a tour of the home all the way to the attic and all the treasures and history that was on each floor. I highly recommend this as a wedding venue!

My husband and I were looking for a very unique place to hold our wedding ceremony in New Orleans, since he proposed there, it held a special place in our heart. I did lots of research of different places until I came across House of Broel. I loved everything about Bonnie’s immaculate home. Living out of state, we actually had an opportunity to visit her house, at such time she showed us around. Bonnie from the minute we met her was so nice and professional! She showed us the different options as to where the ceremony could be performed, inside, or outside by her beautiful garden. We really wanted to get married outside by her garden area. When we arrived on our wedding day, Bonnie showed great care and concern for making our day very memorable, special and exactly the way we wanted. From the minute we got there, it felt like we were family, although the only people present were the two of us, since we decided on a private ceremony! Bonnie paid attention to every detail from being very attentive in the gorgeous bridal room to the cutting of our cake. Our day was so memorable thanks to Bonnie and her staff! Our loved ones love the pictures that were taken of our ceremony and are consistently saying how happy we look in our pictures! She and her staff made us feel like their main goal was to make our day as special and beautiful as it could be. The icing on the cake was seeing how happy Bonnie was being a part of our ceremony and how much she truly loves doing this!

My wedding was Oct. 17, 2014. It was great! We had a great time! This is the most romantic place to have a wedding! My family loved it, and are still talking about how beautiful everything was! We had a few behind the scene moments that would have ruined a wedding but no one knew because the service was excellent. Ms. Broel is the greatest! She performed a wonderful ceremony for us. My assistant kept us on time with events like cake cutting, bouquet toss, etc. My junior bride had the same exact dress as I did & we didnt want to her to be seen before the wedding so they brought her down a hidden back staircase & had her in a holding room & even had someone sit with her so she wouldnt be scared! The food was awesome & abundant! Good thing we had ours boxed to take with us because it was all gone! The drinks were the strongest Ive ever had at any wedding! All my guests were very, very pleased! My husband & I vow that if thus place is still open when we renew our vows in 10 years, we will have our ceremony here!

House of Broel is an amazing and beautiful place to have your wedding. Bonnie and her staff go above and beyond to make sure your wedding day is special and memorable. We wanted to have our wedding in New Orleans and toured several places there. The House of Broel exemplifies New Orleans and was just what we were going for. We loved how we could split up the payment and pay monthly for our wedding. This really helped with budgeting. Leading up to the wedding, I had several questions and called and/or sent a text to Denise, the coordinator, and she responded quickly every time. One of the best parts about House of Broel is that it is all inclusive. This alleviates the stress often involved in planning a wedding. There was no need to find a place for all the different things needed like food, cake, alcohol, and decorations. Now to the big day. Bonnie was our officiant and did a wonderful ceremony. Denise coordinated everything and made sure the whole thing went flawlessly. Rachel, my bridal attendant, was by my side the whole time. She made a plate of food for my husband and I and had us step away for a few minutes so we can spend a little time together and eat something. Kevin and Russell, the bartenders, made great strong drinks. My dad cannot eat pork and one of the bartenders went and made my dad some pork free jambalaya. The whole staff went above and beyond our expectation to make our day memorable not only for us but for our guests. If you care getting married in New Orleans, this is the place, you will not regret it.

Me and my fiance have booked and been paying our monthly payments for the venue because our wedding is October 12 2018. So thats a whole year way. We ended up deciding to elope and have a more intimate wedding. We asked to have a little intimate wedding there and she just give us back the difference and she said no. Plus she had a very nasty attitude so instead I asked for a full refund and she said no because she doesnt give any refunds. You cant be serious very mean and very rude. She treated us like we werent even people but just another face. I mean this is my wedding day just not another business transaction. And I thought she was a really nice lady I guess not. I was married at the House of Broel on Nov. 7th. The house is beautiful, more spacious than I had anticipated for I did not see it before hand. It looks wonderful in our pictures. The area outside for the ceremony was very green and lush. Very vibrant palms and pond which was nice. I said that I wanted the wedding march but there was no music. Unfortunately I didnt ask Bonnie how we would be standing for the ceremony and she did not tell me. I just assumed it would be the traditional her at the altar and us facing her with backs toward the audience. I was told there would be a rehearsal but realized that meant for everyone else. We stood on the altar the groom facing out and me at the third degree facing the audience which felt very awkward to me as well as a horrible angle for me!!! I wish I had asked her about that or she had told me what to expect. Also, she read the ceremony which was very nice but no one could hear it!!! which was disappointing. One main reason I chose this place was because of the bountiful appetizers and in all honesty, I did not have an appetizer that I liked and Im not a picky eater. The fish was very fishy and the other apps were just mediocre. Some guests told me they werent impressed with the appetizers either. The main dishes were great though!! The drinks were plentiful. The place was beautiful and unique and the staff was attentive. The DJ played what I wanted and the cake was delicious. People enjoyed the tour and the feel of the place. I was pleased by the openness and feel of the house as well as the large front porch.

Took my family for the advertised tour of the house and dollhouse museum. The owner was having termite issues causing the master bedroom to be closed which was fine. But the issue seemed to disturb her as she was very short and disrespectful to my family. For $10 a head, her tour lasted only 15 minutes and she refused to answer questions. Very disappointed that she did not fully honor her advertisement.Update: Mrs. Broel contacted me to extend her deepest apologies. She took full responsibility for all that occurred and was quick to offer a special package for my family and a full refund. I truly feel that the reception we received was out of the ordinary and can definitely understand how circumstances can affect our attitude towards others. Most importantly, she took full responsibility which is greatly appreciated. Therefore, I am changing my review from one star to four stars and fully expect that the next time Im in New Orleans, Ill be able to visit and provide a 5-star review.

I had my wedding here during labor day weekend. Mrs. Bonnie was absolutely wonderful and accomadating. From the minute we arrived in New Orleans she made time to give us a tour of the house and go over the ceremony and reception. Having to plan a destination wedding is very overwhelming, I like to see what Im working with, however, in this case I had to come here with an open mind. There was no having to worry about decorations, flowers, music, food or drinks, everything was all inclusive. The pictures online dont do the justice of how beautiful it is live. My husband was very pleased with everything, its not your typical wedding where u have to sit down and eat at an assigned table, you get to mingle with everyone. Everyone else who worked with Bonnie were just as great, making sure I had something to eat, drink, my dress was on right and even helped calm my nerves. All I can say is thank you for this great experience and sharing your home with us brides.

So disappointed. I was the maid of honor at my best friends wedding and was shocked at the lack of communication and level of disorganization of the staff. Due to transportation error, unrelated to the venue, the bride and bridesmaids were running a few minutes late. The door was locked and no one was answering it (with groomsman and a few early guests already inside). We needed to rush the bride up to get her in the dress for more photos, and after asking the staff several times where do we go.. the repeated answer someone will be with you in a moment was not good enough. All I needed to know was where do we go. They did not explain that they preferred someone escort us probably due to dollhouses upstairs. So in a time crunch, lack of communication = panic. Finally we were led upstairs where we scurried to get the bride in her dress for a few more photos of the bridal party together. Then we were told that we had that room all evening and no one would be allowed upstairs so we didnt have to worry about our stuff. We were thankful for that.. but little did we know that over an hour before the reception ended one of our bridesmaids was told to clear out the room and bring everything downstairs. They also schedule rehearsals right before the ceremony.. day of! So we were rushed through rehearsal (15 minutes before real ceremony) that the bride couldnt even be at as she is finishing getting ready and doing bride photos. It was chaos and everyone was so stressed. They then told bride and groom that they were not allowed to do first look photos anymore as there was no time. The amazing photographer stepped in and stood up for them. Bride loved her for that, and also because she is amazing and talented. Becky Cooper Photography.Other points to note is that the DJ required with the package, didnt ask the bride if she wanted specific ceremony music he just said.. dont worry, I got this. She was like, um no, please play the music I want.. and when she sent the list of songs... he literally played them song for song and didnt do the DJ thing which is figure out most ideal order, adjust based on mood of crowd.. etc. So they basically payed for a very expensive i pod play list. They did not announce or stop music when the bride and groom were cutting the cake. Someone, a guest mind you, literally went room to room announcing it, only then the music was finally cut off. By the way, the staff told the bride that the DJ didnt want to stop playing, but I NEVER saw anyone talk to the DJ at all about it.The space according to the bride was rented until 10:30pm and they told the DJ to end it at 10pm. (this may have been miscommunication, but the bride was very upset) They fixed the error and he continued to the designated time, but we really felt pushed out.The Bride was so furious with them, and they made her day so stressful. Thank God only the bridal party saw the behind the scenes mess and everyone else was able to enjoy it.Food was also terrible.I am not sure what happened here as previous reviews seem to be incredible. So disappointing and ALL of this could have been avoided with appropriate communication...
