If youre interested in the history of New Orleans you should definitely check it out. He paid a door fee that has student discounts and military discounts but the tour is free if you want one. The employees are very helpful and friendly I will answer any questions you have. It is a religious building so if youre uncomfortable in religious sites I recommend passing. But if you are religious its also good to visit, you learn a lot about different saints that contributed to New Orleans.

Very nice but small museum housed in an old convent. Focuses on the religious history of the region and is very well presented. Self paced and photography is permitted. Entrance fee at the time of our visit was $8. There is very affordable parking just a few blocks away at 420 N. Rampart St., and its just a few minutes walk from there. Highly recommended.

Great museum and beautiful church at a very reasonable price ($8). They have about 7 or 8 different rooms to view plus the church. They is plenty to look at and read throughout each room and I wouldve throughly enjoyed my experience. But after asking one of the employees a question about the church he stayed with us and started further explaining the history and significance of the church, oldest building, and different artifacts throughout. We stayed for 3 hrs but the time flew by with our personal guide educating us without being boring.

I highly recommend a stroll through here on a self guided tour. There is SO much to see and understand. The chapel by itself is worth the price of admission. So beautiful, rich with history and tradition going back a few hundred years! The grounds are neatly kept and radiate the peace and tranquility from within. Pay close attention to the stained glass in the Chapel. Much to read over its lengthy and extraordinary past.

This museum is beautiful and gives a lot of historical information regarding the building and New Orleans. One side includes the information regarding the convent and the cathedral that is connected; the other side is currently displaying information regarding the St. Louis Cathedral and a small room pertaining to Pope John Paul II visit to New Orleans in the late 1980s, but we were told this section changes periodically.

Huge disappointment. I injured myself on their malfunctioning water fountain. The water output is very low so I bent down low to drink, then suddenly it sprayed very high and water went directly into my eyes and face at high speed. I recoiled instinctively and banged my head on the inside top. I still have a headache almost six hours later. We notified the staff but they were unsympathetic and didnt care. The lady at the front room kept asking us whether we wanted a tour, and didnt understand when we said we didnt want a tour just admission to go in. Finally when we said the words self guided she got it and sold us tickets. The museum is tiny and there is very little to see, and its expensive.

Interesting and restful stop while in New Orleans. If you enjoy history--religious or otherwise--you should enjoy a tour through this museum. You can go through in an hour. The woman manning the front of the museum was too occupied to get off her phone until I asked about the museum. She then replied in a very nasty tone you know this museum is a lot of reading, right? Which I can only assume was something she felt needed to say based on our appearance. We decided to not come back for the tour due to her rude and condescending tone

This was probably one of the most interesting tours we did in New Orleans. It was cheap, even more so when compared to other tours, and the guide was extremely knowledgeable about the place and the history of the city and the state. This is definitely worth every penny you pay, and a must do. I recommend you do the convent before you do the cathedral, as you learn quite a bit about both when visiting the convent, making the visit to the cathedral even more interesting.

We came upon the convent quite unexpectedly while walking around one afternoon. What a lovely surprise when we stepped through the gate to the inner courtyard! The birds were singing and it was surprisingly beautiful and peaceful. The chapel was stunning in its beauty! Comparable to churches in Italy. What a wonderful find this is. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a respite from the city!

You would expect that the historic Ursuline Convent turned museum would be focused on what it was like to live in a convent right??? No. Instead its a shrine to the St. Louis Cathedral. Seriously 5 of 6 rooms dedicated to the museum were dedicated to the history of the church. Not what I was thinking at all. Let down for sure.

Beautiful old building. Very peaceful and soothing inside the chapel. Lovely old statues and gorgeous winding staircase ornately detailed. Lots of historical information on the convent in various rooms. Curious attic with the shutters nailed shut.... Vampire folklore.... Not part of the tour but very creepy to look at from the outside nonetheless. Would definitely recommend to others. 8.00 per person.... Absolutely worth it.

The structure is beautiful. The church itself is as well. The lawn and the inside are well-maintained. However, I expected a little more historical information of the convent in the museum rather than just history of Catholicism. Despite this, I do recommend it for its statues, sanctuary, and staircase.

On our last day in New Orleans we made this our last stop on list of things to do. Was highly disappointed by woman who may have been a guide or gift shop employee. She outright told us we would be disappointed by this tour. She stated that if we came to see ghosts, there werent any. She said that the second floor is off limits & the museum just reflects the 300th anniversary of New Orleans. Wed much more enjoy the house down the street thats haunted by some lady who tortured her slaves back in the 1800s. My older daughters, 20 & 23, & I were so offput by this womans rudeness. We walked out of there in disbelief. Another employee actually came outside to try to assuage us, but the damage was done & we left. Im sure the admittance fee goes toward the restoration & upkeep of this historical site. I hope the society reads their google reviews too. Because this woman turned away 3 paying customers interested in your museum. Bad business! The ONLY negative part of our wonderful New Orleans vacation.

Truly a massive time capsule which preserves the atmosphere from the 18th and 19th centuries. We entered the garden outside and already we sensed the 18th century French presence. The architecture and perfectly manicured hedges are like a fragment of a French palace. Inside the cathedral and complex we joined Phils tour. He is insanely knowledgeable about the history of New Orleans and the building. The tour focused on the cathedral and Christianity. The stain glass windows are marvelous especially when the light shines at the right angle. There was also a short movie on the TV which was informative with nice background music. The outdoor courtyard had magnificent sculptures of Christian characters. Pleasant, apparently quite a few couples wed here. Overall I highly recommend dropping by and exploring the museum.
