This is one of my favourite places in LA to go hiking and check out the views. There are trails to suit different fitness levels too. I did get a little too adventurous on one of them but if youre a first timer stick to the main path / road and youll be fine :-) Dogs are allowed too but please make sure you pick up after them..I noticed a few people had just left it which is really inconsiderate to other hikers and runners.

I really appreciate having Runyon close by to mix up my weekly exercise, especially so with COVID restrictions. I need it to help with mood and mental health too. Seeing others do the same, lots of dogs walking and so on, its a much needed public space right now. One thing though: Im so disappointed to see people not wearing a mask. I am and so are others. Thank goodness for them! Stay safe. You, me and Community.

Absolutely loved it. Parking is bad but you can still find a spot somewhere in the surrounding neighborhoods. I recommend the east trail for a shorter, easier hike. It took maybe 30 minutes to hike all the way to the top, and its all uphill so bring some water. The east trail is technically closed but you can go around the fence (a lot of people were doing this). The hike was easy/moderate so you can go with regular shoes. the views of the city are amazing, we even saw the full moon rising. I recommend arriving no later than 3:30 to hike up, enjoy the views, as well as enjoy the sunset when it sets at 5pm or so. Beautiful, can go alone, kids, and dogs.

Popular hiking/running spot with views of the LA cityscape. It’s still open during covid and there are still a ton of people. Don’t come here if you’re expecting to get peace and solitude. Come here for the people-watching / to catch up with friends (in a safe way!). Dogs are allowed, although in certain spots, they must be leashed.Parking is tough and you’re most likely going to have to circle around for 15-20 min if you don’t get there early enough. No bathrooms are available. The trails themselves are clearly defined and made of a compact gravel, although there are some points coming East to West where it can get a bit gnarly. Sneakers are fine, but if you want to play it safe, hiking boots aren’t a bad idea. The trail is exposed so wear sunscreen and plenty of water. The lookout points have good views of the city on the west side, and you can see the Hollywood sign off in the distance on the east side. You can park at the north end of fuller, or you can start your hike by going uphill by parking on the south side of the park.

People usually stay on the main trail/road but if you are more adventurous, you can take one of the side trail that leads into the bushes and back to the main road. You might come out with a few scratches but happy you did it! It might be in Hollywood, still people are usually friendly and you get to have the best views of the city from up there.

Yes its open sun up to sun down(according to signs). They close the gates at 6:30p(starting Nov.). Ive entered through Vista and Mulholland drive. Beautiful views all the way around. It is dog- friendly. Please wear your mask and practice social distancing. Unfortunately some people do take off their mask inside so please just be aware. Tips:Take water! Also, the West trail hike up is tough but so worth it. Watch for snakes near evening time. Last I checked East trail is closed. Parking enforcement is in full effect. Cars get towed so often. Watch the signs and ask if youre not sure. I hope this was helpful. Other than that its a relaxing time to refresh in nature. :) Enjoy your walk or hike!!

What an incredible place. Went for a short hike after work and enjoyed the miraculous views. Obviously theres gonna be the occasional oddball (dude carrying what looked like a komodo dragon; dude doing his workout right in the middle of the way so only one person can pass at a time), but them again, it IS LA. I loved coming here and Im grateful for the experience. Can only recommend this place to everyone.

Where do we park? We went to the North entrance, the parking was closed, aren’t you supposed to know if the parking is available, beforehand? We had to drive 40 mins just to find out the parking was closed. Walked around to ask people about parking, and had to come home just like that. People seem to have enjoyed this place here, but how? And please if anybody in charge of parking / general information is reading this, update parking availability somewhere so we know when to go. Total waste of time.

I love traveling in search of the most beautiful hiking trails around. My travels have often taken me to many different parts of California, out of state, and hopefully it will soon take me out of the country. Although I love traveling for these sorts of things, I sometimes fail to realize what I have right here at home. Lands End Trail is one of those trails that OTHER people travel far and wide for. On any given day you will see hundreds of people walking along this path, many of whom are tourists from other states and countries.

Ok for a quick walk or run. A purely city hike. You would have to go back and forth a couple of times to get a good workout or complete 10000steps. They have a steeper path on top of the fire road trail which is more challenging and can give a good workout.

Big part of the park is closed now (excually exact trail from what you could get a good view to Hollywood sign), you still could go up and see the sign, but the view is a bit worse than it could be.You need to wear a mask to enter a park and follow keep your right on a road so you could easily keep the distance with people who coming towards you. The West trail is one way trail only, again due to covid.I was the on Sunday around 3pm and Id say the park was rather empty, there wasnt any problem to find a parking there (pre covid parking was challenging even at 6am on working days), so thats nice.I used to live 15 mins from the park, I loved it. Its really nice to have >2 miles of hikes and a few steep slopes in a back yard, so easy to train. It could be crowded on weekends but seems its no longer true (see above). Overall I totally recommend it!There is a water in front of park, for cash, and plenty water fountains along the trail, no toilets though. And be aware about wildlife: rattle snakes have been seen on trails as well as its a habitant for a small pack of coyotes (dont let your dog off leash after dark).

This trail selection has so much to offer! Every time we visit LA, it’s a mandatory hike! You can take the paved path to the top and play it safe, or you can veer left and take the path less travelled! This is always my choice! Loosely packed dirt with lots of trip hazards and reasons to pay close attention to the task at hand. Don’t be caught without a bottle of water on a hot day either. It’s a long way up and no shelter from the hot sun. Lots of “IG opportunities” and some great views on the way up, including homes on the hillsides, the city skyline and don’t miss the “Hollywood sign”.

There are two trails . The first is the moderate one 2 miles, good for families, kids, dogs, it’s tarmac. Half way back, you can opt to take the sand trail or stay on tarmac. Then there is the ‘hard route’ it’s only a little longer at 3 miles - but the ascent is 850ft across 3 peaks and it’s tough from the off. You still see people with dogs but definitely not for kids. Again, on the way the down you can opt for the tarmac of stay on the trail. Download the free “All Trails” app to give you more info and have a map for the way round.Views of L.A. are fantastic from Hollywood to DTLA, for early risers - catch the sunrise at 645am - exceptional, or catch the sun go down

Runyon Canyon is one of the popular hikes in the LA area because of its easy access and location. Locals and tourists alike come here to hike. There are 3 trails that you can hike which ranges from easy to difficult. Each trail provides stunning views of the LA area. The middle trail which is a paved road, leads to the top of the East and West ridge trails. It has a steady incline which is ideal for kids and for running up/down the hill. The East Ridge trail is a little more challenging. It has a steep incline going up the hill but not that difficult. It provides views of the Hollywood sign. This is the trail where you will find the locks of love attached to the fence. The West Ridge trail is the most difficult trail. It has several steep climbs which some are very close to the edge of the hill. Not ideal for kids. I dont live in Hollywood and it was my first time visiting the Canyon. These beautiful views were taken from the highest point of the east trail at 1320 ft elevation inside the Runyon Canyon. There are 3 trails. It is probably the safest hiking place esp for women. No one has been killed. The picture doesnt show the 180 deg view of Los Angeles-the Hollywood Sign and the Griffith Observatory on the left and Century City and Santa Monica on the right. In the bottom where trees are, there are multi-million dollar homes in the Hollywood Hills owned by celebrities. That picture of a woman on the building is an ad for vodka and the building is the famous Lowes Hotel. The yellow building next to it is the Dolby Theater where the Oscar is held. If you look further toward the horizon, youll see some of the tallest buildings in the world that are located in downtown Los Angeles. There are five ways to enter the park: two gates at the bottom close to Hollywood & La Brea or the Hollywood Walk of Fame; a gate at the top with a parking lot at Mulholland Drive if you come from the San Fernando Valley, a gate at northwest end of the park at Solar Drive by the West trail, and a footpath from the top of Wattles Garden.
