Came here for my little nieces birthday party. She certainly did love riding on the ponies and playing in those big inflatable play pens! And I loved being able to feed the goats and sheep at their petting station. Its so nice to see the pumpkin patches on the long drive we endured to get to the pumpkin festival.

Very interesting place to visit. I recommend go in the day so you can actually explore the cages. But at night it is spooky vibes. Just be careful at night exploring cuz you dont know what kind of spiders are hiding in the dark.

Been here a few times now and it never gets boring. We love to go see the old zoo and the graffiti and stuff. Not that graffiti is ok, but it makes for some cool pictures. Its pet friendly and there are hiking paths for both expert hikers and amateur. Also check out the merry go round while your there, theres some cool history over there.

This is a really cool area to come to hang out with your family and friends. Its an excellent area for a picnic or even to go on a hike. The old Zoo structures and cages are all still there oh, some of them are even open so that you can go in and take some really cool pictures. I would definitely recommend bringing your friends are family here!

Great piece of Los Angeles history nestled in Griffith Park. Check out the old layout and animal cage displays left in place from the old LA Zoo of the 1940s era. Surrounded by old park picnic areas and also next to access to Griffith Parks miles and miles of hiking trails.

Cool history, sometimes cool art.. plenty of liter but unfortunately cant expect much better at these types of placesFun to walk around while reading online about the old zoos history, lay out, and dismantling. Crazy to look around and think that the place was open for 5 decades and housed a thousand individual animals

We took the kids there last week since we got the groupon deal of $20 for 2 adults/2kids all day passes. I have a say Its a super value! There were so much for the kids to do: train ride, hayride, pony ride, haunted house, etc. The staffs were friendly and helpful. Well sure go again next year.

Great hike around the old zoo, even if the All Trails map was a bit confusing for the old zoo loop. I recommend going in the morning. The last two times we went in the afternoon we were turned back around due to capacity. Wear comfy shoes with great tread. The trail can be slick due to loose dirt going downhill.

I won’t say it’s a nice place to walk around , it has been mistreated by people , from peeing everywhere specially in enclosed places . The stairs that you can see from the back of what used to be cages , it’s been graffitied and people seemed to be out there to drink and leave their cans and glass bottles everywhere. Then as We we’re picking inside the used to be cages we encountered a couple , the guy was taking pictures of the women semi naked I don’t know why you gotta get all ghetto in public places though , there’s kids walking around exploring!

Really cool bit of old Los Angeles. Definitely worth checking out if youve ever wondered what its like to be an animal in a zoo or just see some eerie ruins. Around Halloween Los Angeles holds a whole assortment of Halloween activities here for children and adults, and there really is no better host than the old zoo for some creepy Halloween excitement. There is plenty of parking and if its not around Halloween there is still plenty of fun hiking to be done around the old zoo.

We loved this place. Everyone in my family thought it was one of the coolest places we went to while in LA for the day. You could climb through a ton of the old exhibits. And it was fun trying to imagine what was held there and how it must have been back then. The park below the zoo was pretty awesome too. It was packed. All and all a great experience and would definitely recommend for something a little more unusual.

A great place to spend the afternoon hiking and taking in the outdoors, even for the picky teenagers. The abandon zoo really caught their attention and the graffiti on some of the old structures is pure urban art. So you get to mix a little art and outdoors in one trip and the views are priceless - and everyone smiling on the way out, I call it a good day.

Its a Fun little hike. The only thing I think it lacks is a board that gives some background on the history of the location. It is an intriguing location and its not a terribly long hike for a toddler. It took me and my 2 year old about 1 hour to walk the hole loop.Dont forget to stop by the playground so your kids can run off the rest of their energy.

This was just okay. It’s basically empty cages that give you no idea of what used to be housed in them or what you may be looking at. As is typical of an abandoned site, it has a lot of graffiti and trash.

Erie place but a fun part of the park to hike and explore. We did the bee rock hike with the old zoo at the end. Great view im bee rock of Glendale and the San Bernardino mountains! The old zoo is at the end of this hike or you can just park at the marry go round parking lot and walk up. Tons of old cages you can explore. Anchor man was shot at the caves. You cant help but get an eerie feeling here. I wouldnt be there at night but safe during the day. Dog friendly as long as they are on a leash. Picnic tables too if you want to have a lunch there.

While it is nice to have an antiquity site like this right in the heart of LA, a lot more could be done to beautify it.Obviously this is an abandoned site, but there have been efforts to make this an attraction - from the picnic benches to the hiking trails, and of course the old animal enclosures still in place (now empty). But sadly the place is overrun with graffiti and trash and is not well maintained at all.A crying shame when it could be such an interesting and unique trail to hike.

Its a nice destination for a short hike or a stopover on a longer one. Honestly not much to see here, I didnt even take a photo. Im glad I saw it but dont need to return. Bringing a picnic would be kind of fun.If you drive all the way up past the merry go round, youre practically there, but you can park near the railroad for example and hike about 30 minutes to come up the back side. I continued for there up to Bee Rock which was another 30 minutes or so for a nicely contained hike.
