This is a little oasis, just off Sunset Blvd. (behind Kaiser). I remember years ago they had an art show of special, old patchwork quilts. Some were made for dolls. It was really cute. That was a special time that I shared with my mother️

II go up here frequently. During the week the park is quiet and the views are spectacular. Anna Barnsdall certainly knew where to place a house. This is where the hollyhock house is and this time of year there are a great deal of hollyhocks. The grounds are kept very nicely. There is of course the municipal art museum which is only open 3 days a week. And there is the adult and children art workshops where you can take classes. Besides the view to walk around the hollyhock house is really enjoyable. You can take self-guided tours as well as docent tours. I just like to walk around the exterior sometimes because its so gorgeous. Parking is free. The pix attached are all cell phone images.

Crazy fun for all ages! Even my 75-year mother enjoyed the slides. :) There was already cardboard at the slides so we didnt need to bring any. We went on a Friday and there were just a few smaller kids there who didnt stay long. There are two slides side by side so you can race. This was a fun time!/

I love that this exists in the city. Its like a completely different world when youre inside this park. The tall trees block out all the outside noise and provide a relaxing aroma while youre exploring the grounds. Perfect place to come and unwind, exercise, or take your dog on a long journey through the wooded trails. Be sure to check out the rose garden, its free, and my personal favorite.

This place is NOT a dog park; its a park you can take your dog to play off leash and thats as good as it gets. Surrounded by busy streets, tour buses and people everywhere, dogs must have excellent recall and voice control which makes this a great place for a family outing with Fido.

A huge park thats only good for locals hanging out like exercise, picnic, laying on the grass, painting and such in my opinion. For tourists its just too big to walk between places on weekdays, they do offer shuttle rides on weekends and major holidays though.

Sundays at Barnsdall are my kinda church. Views for days. Sunset 360. Hollywood sign, and the Griffith Observatory lookin like a modern day castle perched above our city. Its like vacationing in Europe for the day.Get there early and pay to check out the beautiful Hollyhock House by Frank Lloyd Wright. BYOB and cheese, clean up after yourselves, and be careful not to imbibe too much because I swear there is never a bathroom open or available up there!

I dont care if youre an adult - youre coming here if youre in SF. This small park is in the middle of a residential area. Looking at pictures of the slides, I thought there was going to be barely any momentum going down, but my goodness, this was the fastest slide Ive ever been on.

This is, without a doubt, my favorite park in the city. Sunsets are amazing and parking is free. So many things to like: great location, astonishing views of Hollywood sign and Observatory, and you even have a Frank Loyd house in there! There is also a venue in the back of the park where they throw concerts & art gatherings. Farmers Market during the weekends!

Hollyhock house is worth a visit, especially for fans of Frank Lloyd Wright, who designed it. Volunteers are present to answer questions and make sure you dont touch anything. Visitors to the house must wear paper booties over their shoes to protect the floors. You can only enter a few of the rooms.

The renovated hollyhock house was fantastic. They should be ashamed not allowing pictures of the interior. The only work by Wright that wont allow pictures as far as I know. Here in Barnsdall is also the contemporary museum of art. I have been there many times and I do not have words for how bad their exhibits are. I have never seen anything that did not suck in a major way.

Barnsdall Park is a great place to put out a towel and enjoy the sunshine. A little off the road so you are not bothered by the traffic below on Hollywood Boulevard. In addition, you can see the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Hollyhock House. Just recently named a World Heritage site, you get to see one of the most significant homes ever built in the USA.

This was a very beautiful, but not a very accessible place. High up on a hill with lovely art facilities and museums on a grassy lawn. Fantastic Art! My only criticism is accessibility. My elderly grandmother (with a walker) was able to take the staff elevator up to the top, but then the office closed and there was no other elevator that we could find to get her down. She was forced to hold tight to the handrail and climb down all the stairs while I clattered along next to her pulling her walker down all those stairs.

Barnsdall is the best kept secret. A beautiful park at the top of a hill in Los Feliz. 360° views of the city including the Hollywood sign, the observatory, the Silverlake hills, DTLA, and Century city. The Frank Lloyd Wright designed Hollyhock house sits atop the Hill (Now a UNESCO world heritage site). Ms. Barnsdall left the house and property to the city with the decree that the space must be used as a cultural arts center. Art classes are availble for children and adults. There art studios, a large art gallery and theather space, and there is an additional junior art gallery as well.

Barnsdall Art Park comprises the Hollyhock House by Frank Lloyd Wright, Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, and Barnsdall Theater. I only went for the Hollyhock House because I am a Frank Lloyd Wright enthusiast.Overall the house is stunning. Its one of the five FLW homes in LA, and is open Friday thru Sunday. In order to see the outside of the house, you have to book a tour since most of it is gated off and does not allow the public to wonder freely. Even then, you still are not permitted in the garden area which was slightly disappointing. You are also limited once you get inside the house. Only three rooms are for viewing, and the rest of the house is closed off. There are no plaques or labels. If you have a question you must ask one of the docents.I enjoyed seeing the house in person. It is an unusual FLW home and parts of it were restored/reworked by his son. However, it was off-putting that so much of the home was off view and it relied heavily on docents for information. There was a brochure available to carry through the house, but not one you could take home.If you have the chance to go you should, especially since the other homes arent open to the public. Additionally, you can see the FLW Ennis House across the way, which is pretty cool.

The location is great because its on top of a hill and it affords views of the surrounding area. The Hollyhock house is beautiful in its strong geometric design. The only drawback is that you cannot go into the kitchen or other areas of the house due to it not being wheelchair-friendly. Perhaps at some point they can accommodate that issue without disrupting the design.
