Very nice lake can pick your own spot and enjoy the scenery they do a good job of keeping it clean but some people really need to stop leaving their empty bottles and bags around

Great local fishing spot with a series of connected lakes. You can usually find a nice quiet spot to fish and call it your own. If you enjoy camping, there is also a campground on these premises. There is also a tackle shop at the entrance for all your fishing needs.

This place is absolutely amazing in addition it’s gorgeous but it gets super hot get here early am during summer months!!!

Ive been fishing here with my boyfriend now for the past 2 to 3 weeks and my experiences have been amazing. So peaceful, a chance to just relax, laugh, and enjoy the fishing without thinking of the way the world is today. Nature is amazing despite what were going through right now.

Beautiful lakes, nice playgrounds and a small campground. Trails are a mix of wide open and easy to hike and then very narrow and root covered. Overall a very nice place.

This is a nice hidden gem between East of Lakeland and West of Auburndale. Ive been coming here all my life since I was a young lad. This place offers fishing, boating, camping, and hiking trails. You can see some awesome wildlife here for sure from alligators to various birds. There is also a shooting range near the far back of the park area. Also, there is a large playground for children to play.Along the main road of Saddle Creek, you will find various picnic tables that are covered. My family use to get lunch and we would eat out here at one the picnic tables. There is also a camping ground in here for tents or RVs. My primary purpose out here is to walk the nature trails.There are 2 primary nature trails that are located in the far back. Parking is free. The first original nature trail is the one on the left side of the lake. This trail is about 1.2 miles in length. It has a dead end and you walk back creating about a 2.4 mile hike. Its very easy, mostly shaded, very inclusive in the woods, and offers some hills in here. You can overlook the beautiful swamp and lakes below at some points. This trail is very wide on the main part. However, there are some narrow trails that you can on as well. Just be careful out here.The second trail is to the far left closer to the shooting range. Just follow the signs to the opening area. Here they offer a required fee of $3 per person for the trail. Sadly, most people just ignore paying the fee. Ive seen people do it. Anyways, this trail is about 1 mile length if you walk the Lake Loop trail. You start the trail off by walking over an old wooden bridge. Once at the folk, I take the right trail. Its a loop, so you will come back here to exit. This trail can be very strenuous from some people with hill climbing up and down. It is very narrow compared to the other nature trail. Along the way you will see another bride that leads to another portion of another trail. You can walk this flat land trail if you like. I walked it and thought it was relaxing. It loops back to the regular trail so you can finish the mail trail. Once across the bridge again, you will come across a decision of taking the easy trail or difficult trail. Easy is flat as difficult is hill climbing. I like the hill climbing for a great workout. Soon you will see a high lookout tower, its small though. You can walk up to look at the gorgeous view of the lake. From here, just walk back to the main trail. Continue to follow the trail until you come across the beginning folk. You will pass a second bridge before the folk.I walked both trails the other day and I think it took me about 2 hours or a little longer because I was taking pictures and enjoying the environment. I would highly recommend coming out here for a nice peaceful walk in nature. You may encounter gators out and other wildlife. The park is open from Dawn to Dusk. I highly recommend wearing pants and wear mosquitoes repellent. Mosquitoes are terrible out there.

I just love this place well maintained, clean, trash containers available its just a really nice place for family fishing or having a picnic.

Nice place to fish, go camping, hiking and shooting range great for friends and family to go to you even can drive in with your car no alcohol beverages is not allowed but you no i have fun catching and releasing would i go again sure well ..... not so much pictures of the place but i did took some.JG.

I ride my bike to this area. Its okay. Pros: lots of places to fish, park, camping site, park, hiking trails, office is open on Sundays and nice friendly people. Cons: a road goes through the park which brings unwanted traffic, no sidewalks, tiny camping area, and not enough picnic tables. I would put a sign, no through traffic to avoid any accidents or people getting hit.

Great place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty that Polk County has to offer. Theres a bait shop and camping facilities.

County park with small boat launching availability. Small campground best suited for tents with facilities(nearby gun range may keep you from sleeping in). Has playground areas and picnic areas. Access to part of the Great Florida Birding Trail. Don’t feed the alligator signs present.Nice quiet non urban park that might or not be your cup of tea.

Its such a quiet, peaceful place. My parents are visiting from Indiana and we took them so Dad could fish. We had a lovely picnic while the kids ran and played. Thumbs up from everyone!

Best kept secret in Lakeland...we love walking the dogs on the land jetties that cut into the ponds and lakes. Great nature trails way in the back. The best trail for dogs is free behind the back pond, after the volleyball court. Look for the birding trail sign after a small gate. It goes further than you think, and is wide and clear. The second trail with a separate wood sign is managed by Teneroc fishery management and is $3, but the rest of the park is free. Fantastic birds and a few small gators to see most days. Nice kids playground and picnic areas. Lakes are stocked for fishing .

Great fishing in these old phosphate pits with the right bait. They keep it trimmed around the edges for bank fishing and a maze of islands on each side. Osprey and egrets are everywhere and the buzzards will tear your vehicle up at the boat ramps. The county could clean up trash in areas better and leave trash containers in more spots.

I really enjoyed the view of the water.

Good for alligator sightings but trail is only open Monday through Sunday! And you have to pay for trails that arent that well maintained would not recommend unless you have a boat

This is a beautiful place; like my wife. Radiant like the sunshine. Campgrounds are in this place. Trails to go through (watch the gators) there is a park for the kids. Restrooms. Boat docks.

Have visited several times to fish & also to walk the trail. It is very peaceful & much cleaner and safer feeling then I remember it being 20yrs ago!

Ive been here many times over the years. If you have a boat...I think the fishing is good (So I hear). Ive never had much luck fishing from the bank. A pan fish here and cat fish there....a bass once in a blue moon. Maybe Im not getting the best spots. Also it can be some what busy on the weekend so get there early. Lots of different bodies of water to chose from. The one close to the road as a small peer. Also bait shop near by.

Best fishing hole in all of Polk County

My boyfriend took me here to fish we had a great time, there were many other people fishing but so many places to fish we found a nice spot so we could be alone and boy was it awesome. Definitely going back.

Visited this location for the boat ramp. There was only 1 other boater on the lake during our visit. The lake is expansive & beautiful with plenty of good fishing and lots of beautiful birds and Gators to see if your just on a sightseeing trip.

Its a great place but so many people fish there its a tough bite.

Great fun for family get togethers and intimate picnics. Oh yeah, the fishing is great also. Set up well for everyone even the physically handicapped. Wheelchair accessible bathrooms. Quiet and tranquility is the atmosphere here except for when a fish gets caught. Free to the public

This place is gorgeous, but not very big. Perfect place to go and cast your fishing line or put your boat in on one of the many boat ramps. Nice little place to spend a few hours relaxing. Theres camping as well.

Very nice area for great family and outdoor activities. There are many species of birds, beautiful insects like dragonflies and bees, lovely sceneries for photographers, and plenty of trash cans and fishing spots. Great place for a casual stroll too. Beware of the alligator in the water!!

Beautiful park great scenery but the wierdo guy running the place was very mean to my wife and was dishonest about the way he handled himself. Very dissatisfied I dont know if he is on something or what but he ruined the entire experience for us I would not trust him around my children either there is just something off about that guy. Im pretty sure he had the police waiting for us when we left as they blew down on us as though we where criminals. What a joke dont go here

Its a good place to look at the water and clear your head but be careful if you bring your kids because I found multiple needles all over the place done didnt even have the caps on them. If you got a boat then awesome place to fish but if you dont find somewhere else because its all pretty much fished out from the shore

Lots of opportunities for bank fishing. Great for kayaking and small boats as well. Bring the bug spray if you plan on being there during sunrise/sunset.

All I have ever caught was gray looking fish every twenty minuets using worms & crickets then threw them back in saw ppl catching huge white catfish but couldnt ever get one. Always had a good time. Park needs more shady trees

Great spots for fishing. Usually nice and quiet. Dont see too many fish being caught. See alligators occasionally.

We stayed at the small campground here. The nice guy who runs the campground is kind and helpful. They have very strict rules (no extra tents on Rv sites(my dogs sleep in a tent), no fire pits. There is no full hook ups yet they charge a $10 dumping fee at the dump station. It’s cash or check only which is odd. Rules aren’t they posted anywhere at the campground or online so wish I would have known some of this before. It was pretty cheap though-$20/night. They don’t however take reservations and it’s first come first served. Which was good for us when we came the week between Christmas and New Years to visit Orlando without Rv reservations—but bad because we couldn’t guarantee our spot while we headed down there. There were many many run down campers and people that looked like they lived there—not great atmosphere. “Spots” were really close together. Not trees or anything in between and the sites were really un-level. It is a good hour from the theme parks in Orlando’s despite what the GPS says. Also, there are many many expensive tolls between the campground and Orlando. We were desperate and I’d only go back if desperate because it wasn’t the greatest.

The park is beautiful, but when we have recently been going there has been a film of nasty on top of the water, vultures are everywhere, and theres just trash everywhere. We have been going for years now and it has never been this bad.

The park itself is clean and seems to have a lot of open land with pretty landscapes which makes this next part so confusing.I had gone to the park for camping and my review is for that:There is a $15 fee for non-county residents per evening, and the area for camping is closer to an unpaved parking lot than a camping ground.One other thing I found odd was how small and close the camping spaces were; they seemed to have a lot of beautiful open land but all I could notice was the crack of bullets from the nearby public firing range.In short: A pretty park, a disappointing use of public land for camping purposes

Lots of great fishing here, or just nature walking. This park closes at 10 pm and this is strictly enforced by the Polk County Sheriff Department. There is also no alcohol allowed in the park

Quiet, able to find private, shady spots. Saw alligators and Cranes. Not crowded but seemed popular. Regularly patrolled by wildlife officials.
