Today we decided to go to Kinney Azalea Gardens and take a walk around. My family and I walk to and through the circular archway youd get to within about a minute or two and we let the twins walk around a bit to where out of nowhere we hear ferocious barks from two different ways and we both grab a baby immediately. I think its dogs but as soon as I look up Im staring down a coyote and it is sizing me up and sniffing me. We walked away without fear and it stayed in position as if to let us know to get out of its territory. This is no way blaming the property this is a warning to stay safe for others. We been here before and never saw this so it was kind of crazy!
These gardens were truly a labor of love cultivated by Alonso Kinney, a Botanist at the University of Rhode Island. Now maintained by his heirs, the gardens are open to the public free of charge during the late spring when in full bloom and are often used as a site for outdoor weddings. Beautiful any time of the year but stunning in late April through early June.
Loved the little themed paths. Quiet and peaceful.
Beautiful place to walk around and see azaleas rhododendron and more. Great picnic spot. Donations are encouraged to help maintain this beautiful hidden Gem. Limited parking. Best to go in may when flowers are full bloom. Friendly and informative caretakers who do have dogs that freely roam (well behaved and most of the time you dont see them).
My girlfriend and I came here as a spur of the moment adventure. We really enjoyed walking through all the paths and bridges with all the flowers! The colors were so vibrant and when the breeze came through the smell was amazing! Only minor thing to bring attention to is parking is a bit limited. Other than that I can highly recommend this if youre looking to take a nice, quiet stroll through some eye catching scenery!
Even without flowers or blossoms it is incredibly peaceful. Take a quiet minute to sit and listen to the wind blowing in the trees.
DO NOT BRING DOGS. me and my family went for my senior pictures and brought our small dog with us. we didn’t see a sign that said “no pets” and two dogs came out and attacked her when they saw her and could’ve killed her. absolutely ridiculous how the owner of this place has dogs trained for this , she could’ve politely told us that our dog was not allowed instead of almost killing her. definitely won’t come back here again, although it is a small pretty area for pictures and i did get some good ones. The owner had no heart and didn’t even ask us if our dog was hurt and she was very rude to us .
Very pretty and clean
