This is an amazing place to visit, especially after being on a cruise ship for 5 days. The flora and fauna are breathtaking and they give an amazing glimpse into the climate here in Ketchikan, my favorite stop in Alaska. The totem poles tell a story, each and every one, some describe a beginning and some an end, and there are no inanimate carvings, only humans and animals, and spirit animals. It is a place to breathe deep and realize just how small yet significant man is on this planet. It is a wonder to imagine teachings and folklore from years before us, and to ponder what it will take to preserve the past. Please visit this humble yet proud place, it is truly remarkable.

Far from terminal and not much to see. New in effect as of Aug 2019 is an entrance fee of $5 per person.About 15 totem poles, a tribal house and a restoration area. Can do casual walk through in 45 min. Couple of small openings to the shore that was interesting. If you are on a cruise and time is critical, watch your time. Bus to and from terminal comes once an hour and is $2 person each way (20 min). Total travel 1hr.For the travel time, the entrance fee and its small site, you really need to be a history enthusiest to make the trek here.

I Love Totem Bight!!! I had played there as a child, moved away and last year moved back. Its one of the first outing destinations my family chose to go to. And I still went and collected shells and little treasures from the beach

When visiting Ketchikan you have a few options for seeing Totems, most have a significant price tag attached. Being inherently a cheapskate, I look for the bargains and found one here. Firstly, you need to get the 12 miles out to Totem Bight State Park and for that at a few dollars each, the local bus us an excellent option.Once you get out there, entry to the State Park is a trivial cost as well as it is, after a State Park. There are plenty of signs to guide you around the circular walk explaining what the exhibits are.Just make sure you time your tour to put you back at the bus stop in time for your return trip as the buses run hourly.

Nice Alaska State Park with a number of beautifully carved Colorful Totems. They are located in a peaceful location that borders the bay and adds another dimension of perspective and beauty. There is a re-creation of an original Clan House. The walking trail to view the totems has signs which interpret the meaning of the figures on each totem. Well worth a visit.

Our tour guide was great and the totem poles and the stories were interesting. Seeing the array of poles there and the history of each pole was interesting. The clan house and the related stories was something you could get your head around picturing 60 to 80 individuals in the clan house and the central fire pit; as well as the story of the children being responsible for keeping the fire going. Good visit worth the price.

This is clearly a must see in this area. The park is extremely well maintained on a beautiful setting near the water. The poles are majestic with great colors and carved with lovely craftsmanship. There are multiple reader boards explaining the history and reasoning for the different shaped poles. Take the short ride from town and visit this one of a kind park.

Another great place in Alaska to see native totems. They have been there for so long but still have all their original forms. Some totems have been restored necessarily due to termites and rotting of certain trees that were used, but they keep those petrified in a warehouse so you are still able to see them and admire their beauty.

This was am interesting tour & history of totems, which are pretty interesting even if you DONT know much about them. The more you find out, the more interesting they become. There were a couple of times I thought the totem was done in honor of someone. Turns out, the totem WAS about that someone, but was definitely not intended to honor them!

This was such a special place! The trails were well kept and easy to navigate - even with my 89-year old mom! The grounds were very nicely manicured and accentuated the natural beauty of the trees and native flora. The beach within walking distance of the lodge was a nice little escape from the group to find some peaceful moments to myself to take in the areas beauty. The totem poles are well preserved and tastefully displayed. You really feel the pride from the guides/rangers as they relay the lore of the region. The detail in the carvings is really fascinating and history comes alive when you take time to listen to stories of actual descendants of native residents. This is a must-see in the area!

Interesting but CheesyThe van drivers folksy stories were fine and she was very nice. The privately owned Potlatch park, while containing a few genuinely interesting items, is a collection of modern creations, cast off Disney pieces (seriously, not kidding), and odd curios (antique car collection). Cant recommend without some significant reservations.

Is a 33-acre (13 ha) state park in the U.S. state of Alaska. It is located north of Ketchikan. The park is located on the former site of a traditional Native campground known as Mud Village and Mud Bight Village. It contains a collection of totem poles and a replica of a traditional chieftains house. This wood-frame structure has a low oval entrance, leading into a square chamber with a central fire pit, decorated with carved house posts. A stylized raven adorns the main facade. The carvings on the house were executed by Charles Brown, a Native from Saxman.
