Great place for a hike, picnic & some fishing. I appreciated that they have trash bags available for people to pack their trash out, although disappointed at the amount of entitled, disrespectful buttheads that just leave their trash laying around. Many of the trails provide shade during the heat of the day. Watch for wildlife, spiders and spider webs (at head height), bugs and ticks.Nice trails for dogs (although note tick comment above).Note Google directions are not quite right for the entrance here, the entrance is beyond the kayak launch to the left.Nice pier for fishing. More fishing off the blue trail.Toilets available. Shelter with picnic tables available. Handicap as accessible to fishing pier and shelter.

The Blue Trail begins just beyond this area. This is the shortest of the three trails in the Preserve. It boasts a small dock for fishing in the creek/marsh.All trails are blazed. In some places the Yellow Trail is marked by metallic reflectors in trees. In other places one can almost lose the trail completely. Because the perimeter of the preserve so closely hugs the marsh, several sections were almost completely flooded out. The Red Trail cuts across the Yellow Trail in several places acting as shortcut.Betz Tiger Point Preserve is located just to the north of Pumpkin Hill Preserve on the northeast side of Jacksonville, across Clapboard Creek from Black Hammock Island. There are several signs, a pavilion with picnic benches, trash cans, and a restroom nearby.

Betz Tiger Point Preserve and Pumpkin Hill Creek Preserve State Park are connected and merging a system of foot trails, horse trails, bike trails, kayak launches, boardwalks, fishing piers, picnic gazebos with grills, and marshy creeks. As I write this, it isnt all fully built out north of the kayak launch, but you can see where the trails have been cut. The trails to the south of the Kayak Launch that are part of Pumpkin Hill Creek Preserve State Park are walkable/rideable. The fishing piers are built, as are the paved areas, but the boardwalks arent completely finished and some of the hiking trails still need gravel and finishing touches. It is going to be a big state park with plenty of opportunities for recreation that connects by water/marsh to the much larger Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve, Talbot Islands, St. Johns River to the south and Nassau River to the north. Osprey, alligators, wild hogs, deer, manatees, mosquitos, racoons, and even dolphins are around.

Nice for a leisurely and quiet walk... or to hand by the water. Biking trails are small and more of a casual ride but at least they have them. Nothing strenuous here but don’t forget bug spray and permethrin for your shoes and clothes. Major tick location. If you have animals, treat them or make sure you do the tick search afterwards, guaranteed.

Nice trails. Marked fairly well. Dog friendly. Some trails go along the roadway with no shade, but most go on trails with various shade. Pack in, pack out. No garbage cans. Pick up after your dogs! Enjoyed the blue, yellow and red trails.

Love it cause its super isolated/empty. We take the dogs here for off leash hiking, but then we spend 30 minutes picking ticks off them before leaving. :/

A quiet place for a hike. Just be careful hiking the yellow trail. Some parts were flooded and unpassable on July 1, 2018.
