Went here on a foggy morning and it was beautiful. I arrived at 830am and had the beach basically to myself until like 930am. It was very clean and had some small shells around. The parking is in a neighborhood and it wasnt hard to find a spot. There is a bit of a walk to the beach but its a walkway through a pretty marsh area. Love this place.

This is one the best places Ive ever been. Its a lovely, peaceful walk from the front of the Nature Preserve to the Chesapeake Bay. Plenty of flora and fauna to observe! The beach is so beautiful here and there was no one but me when I stuck my toes in the sand. Check it out! Locals, you can bring your dog here from May-September, too.

Its probably close to a half mile walk from the street where you can park to the actual beach. Its through a nature preserve and its quite lovely. Benches placed along the way as well as historical stories. Dogs are allowed after September 15th. There are few people out there each time weve gone, probably because of the long walk. We found it to be a good place to get to the beach in an area where you have no worries about social distancing. Waves are small and theres a very gradual slope creating nice shallow water for kids to play. Seems to be strong currents. No lifeguards.

Be prepared to walk a lengthy, gravel trail through a pond in order to get to the beach. If bringing lots of items with you for your beach day, consider using a rolling cart as opposed to carrying heavy bags. Enjoy hearing the nature sounds along your walk to the beach. The serenity of the beach is worth the walk. Please help keep our nature preserve litter-free by making provisions to clean up after yourself and your animals.

My daughter (10years old) and myself went on a Friday mid-morning (11:00) trip to the water until about1:30 when it was low tide. It was absolutely fantastic, parking wasnt an issue(no fees and easy to find) , there was not more than 5-6 people on the beach , we were able to collect seashells and tons of rocks!! It was fantastic, therapeutic and greatly enjoyable. Worth the small (1/4mile) or less than that walk. Scenic views were amazing with the marsh land on either side of us, and even we caught a few crabs crossing the path! So awesome totally recommend it

Awesome place, be courteous of the wildlife in the area though. The sand dunes are a popular place for ground nesting birds and some people let their dogs run through the area disturbing the birds. Just make sure you don’t go at high tide or there will be a flooded trail and no beach to walk on

One of our neighbors told me about this gem and it is so close. Its a nice, safe protected place for many people. People come to fish, exercise, and relax and many other activities. And its free! No entrance fee or parking fee. Come check it out.

What a clean, tranquil, beautiful place! It’s almost like a secret gem! Somewhat hidden along the street of residential houses, this is a nature lovers treat. Dog friendly, loaded with sea glass, a large variety of sea birds and beautiful shells (you can even find whole conch shells)! This beach doesn’t disappoint. Free admission

Beautiful, peaceful place with secluded beach, amazing wildlife, and lots of shells and rocks. Limited parking and long walk, but it’s worth it. Definitely a hidden gem!

Parking in side streets only. About 1/4 mile walk to beach on gravel path that is maintained. Didnt run into any horse flies or other biting critters. Plenty of wide open beach to hang out. Water was warm and barely any waves but great to swim in. Lots of shells of you are looking but would wear something on your feet in the water so you dont step on anything. Great free beach with zero amenities. So bring everything you need. Definitely a hidden gem.

Great place for a long walk down the beach with few people once you get away from the entrance to the beach. Bring the sunscreen though because this walk takes at least an hour each way on top of the fact that there is an uncovered “nature trail” just to get to the beach.

My first time visiting and it was definitely a place Ill go back to. There are definitely dog landmines on the path in. Bring some bags if you bring your dogs. The stumps in the water line are really cool. I probably wouldnt swim there because of the potential hazards but careful wading is probably ok. This is better for walking in fall or winter as Ill assume the inland water is full of mosquitoes and biting flies in the summer.

There is a bit of a walk to get to the water, and Google maps took us to some persons front yard, so we had to do some searching to find the entrance, but it was all worth it. Its quiet and calm and not crowded at all. This is a peaceful beach. The waves were calmer and the sand was a little harder, but still nice. There were some biting flies, but if you stay near the water they leave you alone.

Beautiful natural beach. Lots of shells and sea glass. Even the occasional oyster. Beaches are as nature intended, not groomed raked or manicured. Long walk in along the path offers good views of ponds and aquatic birds. Great place for the private less crowded beach experience. Tranquility is a just a few more steps down the sand

Bit of a walk to get to the beach, but secluded and the water is nice and calm. Awful cold in winter and Im sure boiling in summer. Must pack in all your own water and food and gear. No wheeled carts of any kind allowed. That sucks for a senior that might want to take enough to hang out and fish for awhile.

This is a great, quiet beach that the whole family will enjoy. There is about a 5 minute walk, but it is more than worth it. My kids love picking up shells here. The beach is always clean and you can walk for miles. Definitely take an hour or two out of your day to wind down here.

What a great place to go for a date, a walk with friends, or to swim in the bay. Grandview is a gorgeous place, the wind is always right, and the atmosphere is one of a kind. Hidden in Hampton Virginia this nature reserve is one that is top on my list to go to on the Peninsula. Be careful when stepping into and walking in the water there are rocks, logs and crabs that can easily trip you. The water is nice and the animals from hawks flying by when walking to the bay to crabs that snap at your feet in the water.

I hesitated to leave a review because I dont want the word to get out, but this place is amazing. It is basically a private, untouched beach. There are often little to no people here and it is quiet. You have to be careful as there are lots of rocks and natural debris near the water sometimes, but easy to go around and the rest of the sand is clear. Not exactly water you want to swim in, but if you are looking to relax on a beach for the view and some peace and quiet, this place is perfect!

Great not as well known and less crowded beach. The walk in is nice and not too long. Only reason I give it 4 stars is so dog owners are careful. The beach and shoreline has lots of jagged tree trunks and roots even in the water where they are unseen until stumbled upon. Our dog jumped in on a broken off trunk and hurt his leg pretty badly. So just be careful!!

I used to come here over 30 years ago when hardly anyone knew about it. It still isn’t crowded and you need to be prepared to take a good hike to get to the beach but if you are looking for a beach that hasn’t been ruined by commerce and development this is the place to be. Parking can be a problem and I wouldn’t bring children as there aren’t any lifeguards or restrooms.

Nice area to take a walk or relax. Wooded trail leading to the beach wasnt too bad. The path is made of small rock and only had puddles here and there covering the rock. There are benches along the trail. Once we got to the beach, the wind increased significantly. There were few people there which was nice and plenty of seashells and other interesting items that had washed up on the beach. The beach itself had a bit of a trash problem I definitely would not recommend going shoeless.

Nice, quiet area that provides a great view. A couple of negatives: there are mosquitos/flies that come around usually after 3 pm and the water has pieces of wood sticking up. Other than that it’s pretty dank. Tip: Buy some refreshments in your way to go to the park, there are quite a few 7 elevens on the way, because there are not businesses down there.

Beautiful area. Lots of off leash dogs, not much of a beach area but more of a walk on the sand type place. Recommend for those looking to get outside without being around beach goers. Amazing natural beach. If you are not a fan of finding beach creatures and things the waves wash up on the shore, you wont like this beach much. A negative, but also a plus is the availability of parking that is no kidding, whats available on a strip of curb along the road leading to the trail/beach entrance. The limited parking is nice because it keeps the beach congestion way down. Only wish they had a public access restroom and a couple of trash cans nearby.

A rough, overgrown wild place. I wish Id kept the photos Id taken of the path to the beach. It is gravel and mud, about .25 miles and can be buggy. However, the beach is wonderful and undisturbed. The Nature Preserve itself is vast, encompassing beach, swampland, forest, and dunes, none of it developed. Wildlife abounds.

Wonderful park, after a short hike through a salt marsh you find yourself on a semi isolated beach. Lots of varieties of waterfowl and the beach offers a tremendous amount of material for beachcombers (shells, rocks, crabs, feathers, etc). We take our two school age children here and they have a blast. Due to the unique flora, low tide creates any number of tide pools and unique landscapes on the beach. Wonderful place for that long walk along the beach or just a fun place to build a sand castle away from the crowds. I highly recommend this place. One thing to take note of is a distinct lack of restroom facilities or any type of potable water, so come prepared.

This place is great because it is never crowded. I take my son here every year before he goes away for the summer. There isnt a boardwalk or bathroom and the tide comes in early in the day.... We were visiting family and they recommended this place for us. We took the country roads to this natural preserve, the entrance is through a residential neighborhood. First two hundred yards I to the path every so often there was a billboard to tell the history of the region with dates and pictures. It is a true marshland with a few wooden benches to sit and reflect. Then we heard the sound of the waves before we saw the Chasepeake Bay. It was so peaceful with a driftwood over and there, seashells, and the tip of the land where the ancient lighthouse used to be.
