The fishing is decent, but it’s a great all around spot.

Very nice lake with a cool road that surrounds it completely. Catch and released fishing is encouraged. Road around lake is 8/10 (4/5) of a mile. Sample grassy area under trees for a picnic.

Nice quiet place with a few benches and a swing. Good for a short walk (around 0.8 miles around the lake), although there isnt a designated pavement for walking. Spot available for fishing, and some friendly wildlife.

.8 mile loop with fishing available in Wednesdays and Saturdays. Plenty of places to set up a hammock, but a lot of seating is provided. Baby Geese tend to appear in the early summer, but be careful not to get to close. Over a quaint and romantic place to get in touch with nature without having to do any serious hiking. This place is city folk friendly for sure, and a great place to bring the kids!

This is such an underutilized and neglected park. I wish it was better taken care of by the county.

Was a good place to fish, especially for kids. Lake is now nearly dry with nothing but muddy stagnant water.

Nice little park/lake. Not really a walking trail but people were making laps around. Some geese and ducks. (Saw some babies) You can fish on Wednesdays and Saturdays. It is maintained by Greenville County Parks. There are a few wooded spots but mostly open. Two parking areas and a bench swing! I will be taking my hammock back in the future!

When pressed for time and have the need to get outdoors I head here for a few walking, jogging, or bike riding laps. Often, I do this about five in the morning, or late in the evening running lights on my bike. For years there were very few houses around the lake. In the past year, about 20 new ones have been, or are being built along the I85 side. Even so, auto and foot traffic is still relatively minor. Their addition has also thwarted the late evening perscription medicine, Im sure, trade. Some of the table and benches are starting to need some TLC though, and someone stole the only bench swing on the lake. The plentiful geese are enjoyable to watch especially in the late spring when all the newborns are allowed to explore under the watchful eyes if Mom and dad. Now that folks have learned to not feed them, they have become a lot less agressive. Overall, OGL is a nice peaceful Oasis of a place to take in some fresh air and a little sunshine.

Simple way to have fun! Feed the ducks and geese, go for a walk around the lake, chill out on a bench or swing. Plus theres two geocaches hidden! The geese are not super mean either!

This is first and foremost a road so watch for cars. If you can get it with limited cars, it is a great walk path. I usually can walk twice and get about 6,000 steps.

A pretty flat loop to run on, and decent length too (0.8mi). Only downside is that cars will be driving by as you run

Its a great environment. My grandparents have lived on the corner my entire life. Its got a great .8 mile circle for walking around. Only reason it doesnt get five stars from me is because it is no longer run by SCDNR and the neighborhood is becoming way too crowded!

This is the most beautiful and tranquil DNR lake. Amazing to stroll, run, cycle or around OR fish, picnic. There are lovely places to take a picnic and even a swing to take in the day.It is safe and the community all watch out for one another here as the sheriffs office always is nearby to keep things safe.Open stunning sunrise to glorious sunset this is an eastside treasure for all to safely enjoy!

0.8 mile paved loop of asphalt (road) for running. Greenville News listed Oak Grove Lake in a list of 10 places to go running in Greenville.Fishing is allowed with valid SC fishing license. Greenville Recreation Department owns and maintains the lake now. It was previously owned and maintained by SC Department of Natural Resources. Per their sign, you can keep up to 5 fish if over 12 inches in length. Fishing days are Wednesdays and Saturdays. Turtles, geese, ducks, and more are present here. Fishing does not seem to be at a peak right now.Construction of the I-85 and I-385 gateway project seems to have added to the muddiness of the lake, but that project should be completed soon.Park is open from sunrise to sunset which will vary with the time of the year.

I was skunked, but I talked to a local and he said that the fishing is good in the summertime. Im contemplating on going back in the spring but it will not be anytime soon.

Oak Grove Lake is very likeable. Its clean, quiet and the grass is always neat. I believe more seating is neede. It should be more picnic friendly.

Great walk around a small neighborhood lake. I took my little one with me and we walked around the lake and up and down a little peninsula and it totaled almost exactly 1 mile. There is enough grass, bushes, and trees around that give it a semi-enclosed feel amidst the houses and streets around too.

Wheres all the water gone?

Went today, poorly kept up. Trash everywhere and trees that have been felled by beavers. No real path around the lake, just grass, super soggy. Only actual bright spot was the swing that was set up by some Eagle scout. Fishing here seems pretty popular with tons of lures hanging from a certain power line. Tried myself to catch something, but was skunked. Overall not the greatest.

It is a beautiful & very nice area to visit in SC. Would have given it 5 stars except some of the areas you might want to visit are not Senior or handicap friendly, some areas have a lot of steps to get from place to place.

Beautiful location to fish, exercise, walk your dog & its 8/10 mile around the lake. Watching all the mallards swim, & their babies growing up is another benefit of this neighborhood.

Great location. I have caught a few small bass and bream here. It is only open for fishing on Wednesday and Saturday, but it still makes a good picnic spot any day of the week.

Fishing was great I love it

Lake is very overpopulated with turtles! Went fishing there today and caught over 40 turtles. Got lucky and caught a small bream. This place used to be thriving with bream, bass, catfish! DNR needs to to clean this place up, lower the turtle population, and stock it with more fish!
