Wow ! If you were ever looking for a museum with a little something for everyone...this is it! Took my Mom & Sis and they had a great time! Youll need about 1.5 hours, and other than one upstairs room, its all handicap accessible! Do yourself a favor and check this place out!
What a Gem! Large groups call ahead to get a discount. You can enter from the front of the house or around the side where the handicap access is. No real advantage to either way. Dont be fooled from the outside. This museum is MUCH bigger than it looks. Its more than just Annie Oakley. This had a ton of the area history. It has been done so well. The bookstore is also a bargin. Places such as this are often money pits but the prices on the books were no more than 50 cents above Amazon. I checked! You will not be disappointed! Visit. Did I mention...visit!!!! This museum has been done so well. You wont be disappointed.
Top notch museum, the ladies working were very helpful.
I absolutely loved the Garst Museum. Its a lot bigger than one would think, and they have some amazing objects on display, such as the Annie Oakley Centers clothing.
Nice museum with a lot to see.
A well maintained local museum. They have rooms and rooms of Ohio history, including old farm and household items. The Annie Oakley exhibit is interesting and well curated. My personal favorite is the room about Ohio’s first peoples.
If you like history, this is the place to be. Wonderful exhibits.
Easy to find, a welcoming staff and all-age-friendly - this gem offers more information, exhibits and complimentary reading material than can be absorbed in just one visit. It is an ideal destination for anyone interested in the history of broadcasting, early peoples of the region, Annie Oakley, etc. Especially fun is the mock town and the display of vintage wagons, appliances, and more.
I learned so many great things here!! I would go back in a heartbeat
Gathering at the Garst! very nice event, and road construction all around has made it hazardous but accessible. The grounds are fine, just the highway going thru town and curbs and sidewalks are all missing or dug up..
Nice local museum steeped in the areas history. Very interesting if you like Annie Oakley or the history during that era. Everyone who works there is very pleasant.
Top rated history that should be taught to all. The volunteers are exceptional
Sooo much information! The collections were extremely extensive and well put together. Allow at least 4+ hours cause there is lots to see and read.
Great place to get info on history and also has Greenville history packed in there! Definitely recommend this place!
Its worth a look. It has nice displays and a thorough history of the area, including a true to life history of Annie Oakley.
The museum makes a real effort to recognize outstanding people from Darke County. I especially enjoyed the replicated shops. I left the museum with a greater understanding of pioneer life.
Very informative and friendly staff ready to help with understanding local but major events in history.
Great place. Really enjoyed going through this museum. The Annie Oakley exhibit was awesome
Good learning experience along with friendly smiles and people...
Wonderful place for history in many areas. Military actions from the new American settlements to Desert Storm, with info on treaties with American Indians. Great exhibits of Annie Oakley and Lowell Thomas. A glimpse into days gone by, showing how people lived in the late 17th and early 18th century. Very nostalgic and educational.
A great place to learn the history of Darke county!
Great place to visit. Hidden gem.
Awesome history and a great way to spend a hot afternoon in July
Darke County is full of history, there is so much to take in.
Nice ... didnt realize there was so much to see.
The history seen and explained is far superior to any history book!
One of my Favorite places to go.
Great place for local history for two of Darker countys famous residents Annie Oakley and Lowell Thomas
Nice place
Absolutely my favorite museum! I can not believe all of the artifacts that they have! I could have spent all day here! I highly recommend this museum. I will be back.

Great place to see enjoyed it very much
Awesome museum. Tons to learn.
Awesome experience
Wonderful walk back through time! Was very intrigued by the Annie Oakley display as well as the Native American artifacts. Well, worth the trip! Hope to go again soon. The military display was so moving...hats off to the curators!
Fantastic place. Lots of Annie Oakley things and found the statue in the park . The lady in the gift shop told us how to get there and there it was. We want to come back to the museum. Didnt have time today. It was a nice day.
Very cool place to visit.
Lovely museum that showcases the Buckeye Region! Takes about two hours or so. Also has outdoor festivals that are scheduled each year.
Very well done museum for a small town. We were hoping to see more about Annie Oakley but still enjoyed our visit. We were there 2 hours and rushed through quit a bit.
Its been the same old thing for years now. This establishment needs some new ideas. The content within is quite interesting and is worthy of a second visit.
A lot of history, so if youre into that, its pretty fun. Not very interactive for the kids, though.
Great place lots of History
When we arrived we were greeted right away. The staff was very informative with people throughout the museum to answer our questions and offer historical facts about the area and the items in the museum. The map they gave us was helpful in making sure we did not miss any rooms. This museum is big separated into rooms. Each room displayed something different from stagecoaches to Annie Oakley items. We found going up the stairs to the military section to be as steep as the guide had told us. There are many uniforms and other displays this this section. We learned about Lowe Thomas another famous person from Darke county. The genealogy center is located in the museum. I found the staff very eager to help with research. I was surprised at the amount of other Ohio counties information available here.I especially enjoyed all the descriptions and stories displayed with all the items. It took us several hours to go through this wonderful place and parking is right outside the musuem. Multiple handicap spots with a ramp to enter the museum. There are restrooms but no food is available. There is a museum store.
So much history in one place. Great place to visit. Annie Oakley display is amazing.
Stop by here for some local history then visit Annie Oakley s grave nearby. Then go to the Merchant House for something to eat. Thats a great day.
Step into history by exploring historical people places and things of Darker county and around
Great place to bring your family
A great museum in SW Ohio. Great items and history of Annie Oakley too.
Fun and interesting place.
This place is rich in local history. It is a Must See place in my opinion!
Can not see everything in one day.
Amazing amount of history and artifacts. Very well organized. Had a great time.
They had free mints in the urinals
Great gathering this year my boys and I love attending.
Love coming here when I come to Greenville
Wonderful museum. Treaty of Greenville, Annie Oakley and Lowell Thomas spotlights.
We were greeted right away and given a map of the musuem. St the same time we were given an overview of what we could expect to see. This was very helpful. The museum has a broad didplay of America, military uniforms, Annie Oakley items, Lowe Thomas section, Indian artifacts. Each room was well marked with information provided about each display..There were volunteers there that were very helpful and informative. I found the stairs up to the military rooms to be sterp but walkable.I also visited the genealogy research center within the museum. The staff was very helpful and ready to assist as needed. They have information on many of Ohio counties. We spent about 3 hours exploring the museum. This is a great place to learn about american history
Took our girlscout troop there and they LOVED it. They were in the 10 years old range, but this is great for all ages as there was lots of information to be had!
Bigger than it seems! Prepare to spend 2 hours here. Lots to learn!!
