I have never hiked in the dark, but it was fun, adventous, nice and cool on a spring day. A tons of climbing, not for toddlers which we found out today, more for older kids. Make sure to bring headlights and follow the red markers in the cave. It was beautiful, quite and the cleanest public restroom I have ever seen. Make sure to take water and hiking boots.

Well worth the dirt underfoot and wheel to arrive here. Quiet and remote.

Epic! Bring water! Ground clearance mildly neccessary on your vehicle. There was a lost family when we arrived. Bring extra for the folks who may be strugglin. 4 wheel drive plus ground clearance if its wet or raining. Awesome wooded views the whole drive. FM 89.7 playin some great native jams for the drive in and out. Maybe takes about 30 40 minutes driving about 5 to 10 mph. Felt safe and clean. It was just my beautiful girlfriend and I on the trip. We felt safe. Dont get lost! Follow the rock Cairns (stacks of rocks to stay on trail).Follow the Cairns!!! It all looks the same out there.--Cornbread n Casseroll

Great free place to get out for a hike. Plenty of lava tubes to explore. When it rains the road requires 4x4.

Nice lava experience. Only a half mile to get to some interesting tubes. Total 2 mile walk if you want.

The trail is really fun and not too long. Be careful if you decide to descend into the lava tubes as the path is very narrow and one wrong move = game over.

The bridges and lava tubes are well worth the hike. Make sure you have good shoes because the lave is very ruff.
