So much magic and memories to be had along with spiders galore. My oldest was not having any of the adventures. Kids still believe in magic and places like this help keep that magic alive. Wild and rich in history the grounds and surround preserves hold tons of little insta perfect pics. Get out side and stay safe it out they exploring. Japanese garden requires reservations. Lots of Paved trails but steep rolling hills, a jogging strollers a must.

Fabyan Villa has beautiful grounds to explore. The preserve runs along Fox River with nice paved trail on both sides of river. Some shaded spots for hot days. Bathrooms are open and there are some picnic areas. Room to socially distance, but did notice 99% of people there were not wearing masks. Paths are wide enough to maintain distance. Beautiful wild flowers and plenty of benches to stop and enjoy the serenity around you.

Fabyn Forest Preserve is a lovely place to visit. The Fox River bicycle trail threads through the preserve and extends south to Aurora and north to Dundee. Fishing from the shore, picnicking, walking, and jogging are all possible along the trails. A boat launch allows paddlers to get out on the Fox River. There also is a Japanese Garden that is open for touring on a regular schedule

Great variety of architecture and Japanese garden. The windmill is also a fun folly to visit. The history of code breaking research by Mr. Fabyan via his Riverbank Laboratories is also fascinating. Certainly a quirky and brilliant person!

Lovely place to have a picnic or grill or even just walk around with friends and family. There’s a windmill here that’s worth checking out. Unguided tours can be taken to check the inside of the windmill until 4pm. Enough parking spaces are available. There’s also a Japanese garden here. Appointments can be made to do photo shoots here. However, it is closed currently due to COVID.

The park on the east side is always Pleasant with good parking. In the walkway Bridge over to the island was interesting as the water was rushing underneath. Only the tip of the southern end of the island was underwater. There is a Earthen walkway from the island to the west side of the river. It was above water. But something new is happening, a new bridge is being built between the island and the west side of the River. The foundation for the bridge is completed at both ends and it is now ready for the bridge itself. Which will be equal to the bridge on the east side of the river. It appears thats the North land bridge will be removed and there will be a Raceway for the water on both sides of the island.

Great. The Japanese gardens are pretty cool. (come to think of it, I didnt really look too closely). The bear cage is good for a crowd if you want to stuff inside. It has generally a jail-like atmosphere. That sounds negative I suppose, but its not too bad. Just bars and reinforced concrete. Four stars due to the house not being open when we were there. Its a good time / place to take grad photos for next year.

Mi
Review №82

Beautiful view of the river from east and west sides. Connects to the Fox River Bike trail for nice walks toward downtown Geneva (north) or downtown Batavia (south). Bikes yield to pedestrians - its not like on Chicagos lakeshore ! Check out the Fabyan Windmill when the docents are giving tours. Very interesting. Colonel Fabyan wasnt really a military man, this was a honorary title, but he was an eccentric businessman and the grounds testify to that.

This place is awesome! There are trails to walk or bike. There is a Japanese garden, a huge windmill (the largest in Illinois), and a museum of sorts. Also and island out in the middle of the Fox river that has bridges so you can walk across. It used to be the property of Colonel Fabyan who was definitely a bit eccentric, which worked out well for us, because now we have a lovely preserve.
