Best part was the view. Really not much more to offer. Safe to say my group and I did not buy any wine to take home. There are many other wineries in the area that are worth stopping before this one.

I’ve never been super impressed with the wine at Ventosa compared to all the other wineries in the Finger Lakes, but they do have a full bar to be able to order cocktails which the majority of other wineries do not have. I’ve never been overly impressed with the cafe food offerings, but my mom and I both ordered different grilled pizzas tonight and they were both tasty. They offer music on Wednesday nights which I am a huge fan of. They used to offer BOGO drinks from 5-6pm on Wednesday nights as well but were not tonight, maybe because of the pandemic. There is a gorgeous lake view from their outdoor terrace, and generally a great sunset view, it was overcast and rainy this evening which is why the music was inside but we still enjoyed a great lake view from indoors.

Disclaimer: I am not a wine person. Because of this I cannot speak very well to their wine and selection. The place is nice, the views are BEAUTIFUL, and the wait staff was friendly. Their process was nice and easy, pretty self explanatory. We weren’t there when they were serving food, which is a shame because I would have loved to try what they had.

I drove over an hour to visit the winery. I was hoping to sit on the patio and have a glass or two of wine order food from the cafe. When arriving at 3:30 the sign out front said you were closing cafe at 4 and can only use part of the patio. You were hosting a wedding. That’s great for the winery but not for others who have traveled a long distance to find out you are closing to the public. I checked your web site before coming it said you were open til 9 . I did not see anything about closing early.

[COVID-19] Patio - good distance, lots of hand sanitizer. Food was served on plastic plates (that looked like ceramic plates but lighter). Utensils were plastic to reduce touch exposure. Wine tasting could be improved—I didn’t expect it to be completely indoors without open windows. While the tables and chairs were spaced out, cleanliness could be improved. The staff could hold the glass stem instead of cupping the glass top (where you would drink from). Since the staff touch the dry erase sheets, markers, ID cards, credit cards... with the same glove... there are opportunities to reduce the touches. The patrons could also just pick up up from the other staff member pouring at the bar instead of being served, or take the tasting cups off the tray instead of being handed each one.[FOOD] Turkey panini was . I miss a good pressed sandwich. Cheese was plenty. Turkey was light and not dry. Toscana Pizza was good as well and extra basil would’ve made it [TASTING] I like that you mark your choices with a dry erase marker. It’s better than using paper sheets (with COVID-19, more precautions are needed as noted above). These wines were not to my taste. I also did not expect the tasting room to be indoors. You get an empty glass per tasting and little sauce plastic jars with your wine choices so you can pour into the glass as you go down your selection. Not sure if this was the process before, but it definitely is more seamless than having to tell the staff my choices for each round of pouring I’ve experienced at other wineries.[BATHROOMS] Clean —️ 30-year old from NYC | prefers Asian food | generally cooks at home | always looking for a good deal & yummy dishes | semi-dry Riesling or Malbec/Merlot | Japanese whiskey + Australian gin

2nd to worst vineyard we went to in the finger lakes. The wine was barely decent like a box of Franzia you drink when you’re in college. The ambiance was like an old age home, gloomy, cold and musty inside. They did follow social distancing rules so there’s that but we did not find purchasing any wine for here worth it. Most of there wines taste like they’ve turned to full acid and there reds lack depth.

I have been to Ventosa numerous times and had great experiences. Unfortunately, today was not one of them. Stopped in for a late lunch around 3pm on 8 July. Ordered a couple of Ventosa burgers and got 2 cheeseburgers that were cooked horribly. Both buns were visibly burnt and there was not a shred of pink on either burger. The young lady taking our order at the register didnt ask to what level that we wanted our food cooked. Shame on me for not telling her. The same young lady walked by our table without breaking stride and said every thing is good, right giving us no time to respond.Food was served on Styrofoam plates and packaged utensils and condiments. I know that we are in the middle of COVID but that and the service today clashes with what I have experienced previously at Ventosa. I am thankful that you are open during the pandemic and wish you the best.We made a great effort to get to Ventosa today and were really turned off by the food. The view on the terrace is great though. Wine was good.

If I could I would give it no stars! We had a large group and the hostess was very rude! We know these are strange times and we were willing to be flexible! She said no room on the terrace and no room for wine tastings no matter the number of people !!! Yet people after us got seated. Lots of other wineries in the area - no need to deal with such mis management!

So, we were fooled by the looks of the property. Great location, great views over the lake, nice building. That gets them one star. But the wines were not even worth half of what we paid for. We came here for my birthday and I was so excited to order the scallops and linguine dinner but for $23, I expected a more flavorful meal and more than 3 scallops. My boyfriend ordered the cod which wasn’t cooked well either. My first glass of wine had lipstick stains, their complimentary bread was rock hard, our waiter wasn’t attentive and often forgot simple requests like getting us salt and pepper. Most concerning was that their hostess didn’t wear her mask properly and she walked all over the veranda “cleaning” tables. Dinner was overpriced and honestly over hyped. The best part was their small plate of $6 fries and the view of Seneca Lake.

Went to Ventosa with my husband, my sisters and their spouses - not impressed to say the least. Let’s start with the aggressive unwelcome we received when we walked in, next there is NO TABLE SERVICE - you have to go to the bar and order your drinks and food! And if you want another drink make sure you don’t go when you are expecting your food to arrive (which took forever and was completely cold!) because they only had 1 - I repeat - 1 bartender/order taker - the manager (Matt) was completely unapologetic - was expecting a completely different experience and so disappointed!! We never go back.

Went for dinner, and had a great time. They bent over backwards to squeeze in a table for us on the patio, which made the dinner so much more memorablle (even though our reservation was for inside because the patio was booked). Eating dinner to sunset over the vineyard with Lake Seneca in the background....Well, the food didnt need to be great at that point...But of course, it was. The salmon was perfectly cooked, and the orange creme gave just the right touch of acid, balanced with a beautiful sweet creaminess. The baked brie appetizer was crusty and gooey in exactly the right proportions, and the cherry and scallion sauce seems like such an obviously great flavor combination NOW, but I certainly never thought of it. Even the basic dishes, like our kids spaghetti with meatballs and fish and chips, were perfect. (Im still trying to figure out what they did to make their tartar sauce so incredible. Was it just a touch of dill? Maybe mixed with cole slaw?)Is youre only interested in the wine, I do apologize... The wine was excellent as well. We had a glass of dry Riesling and one of semi sweet Riesling.... because...Finger Lakes. We bought a bottle of each to take home.

So, to start this review off, we got married here in 2011, so it has a special place in my heart. This visit wasnt all that pleasant and I dont feel that they cared at all. We ordered food and wine on the patio in their covid-approved cafe area. They forgot about us. All others got their food and left. My hubby got up and asked a waiter/bus boy and he said sorry, your order got messed up. Its a Tuesday and there were maybe 5 tables at the most. They brought the food out a while later with no apology, no nothing. So angry at this point and disappointed with a place that holds so many memories for us.

We spent a total of 2 hours at this winery and were very disappointed. We had to ask where our lunch was after sitting for an hour and a half. There was no apology except for an extra drink .... big deal! Nothing was taken off our bill. When we asked about where our meals were we had a very arrogant waiter respond. He snapped at us asking what we ordered and was not happy when I asked if we got free refills on our drinks. A plastic cup of ice water or a cup of soda cost $2.25. I could not believe the behavior of this waiter!! He was annoyed with us for asking about our meals. Keep in mind that customers who came in long after us had eaten and left!!! The food was good but we will never go back or recommend it.

I was married at Ventosa Vineyards in 2018 and went back for our 2 year anniversary this weekend. Our wedding was amazing and top-notch. It had rained in the morning and staff WIPED down the grass before our guests got there to make sure it wasnt slippery! They drove my elderly family members around in a golf cart so that they didnt have to strain themselves to get to the lawn area, and to this day people tell me it was the best food theyve had at a wedding ever! I trusted the manager RJ with a lot of the decisions we made, and was happy with all of them. There is so much turnover in this industry, it was refreshing to work with someone who had been there for so long, and was married there himself! Visiting during COVID-19 was no different. The service and food was top-notch, and we were able to still have the gorgeous view that attracted us in the first place. Highly recommend!

First off do not go there at all during a pandemic. The wine glass for the tasting had someone elses lip stick left on my wifes glass....ewww. Secondly, half their wines are completely tasteless, as if someone waved grapes over a glass of tap water. Third of all, there are no sweet wines at all, they barely introduce their wines as dry to semi-sweet, then the reds are dry to drier, with no description of the grapes, flavors (not that there is much flavor). It is truly not worth the money to barely taste wine get covid from the unwashed glasses.
