Easy parking! Free and $10-$20 closer to the beach depending on if its a busy day or not. Theres changing rooms, bathrooms, showers, and a bar. Sometimes there food trucks and snocones. Alcohol is allowed but NO glass!! Theres chairs with umbrellas you can use, you usually pay, the price is higher on busier days. If its very slow theyre free. This beach isnt usually as busy as the ones near pleasure pier, its very laid back and nice.

This was such a nice beach. Parking was $13, but free parking is available too. There’s a playground by the little bar, and large bathrooms. Sadly, no showers. The beach was clean, there was a lifeguard, and it wasn’t super busy or full (we went on a Sunday afternoon)

We had fun for Memorial Day.. The beach had alot of folx there but wasnt crowded.. They really fixed the beach up now.. New, clean, silky beige sand, no seaweed full of flies n mosquitos and the water was actually clearer.. Only drawback was that u can no longer drive on or up to the sea line any longer so u have to carry your stuff a very long distance to and from the parking areas.. They also now charge a fee per car to park on the beach area or u can park behind their allotted area which is an even further walk.. Its messed up for having to pay a large $15 fee and having to walk n not park at the water & sit outta your cars..

Our favorite beach spot in Galveston! Youve got a bar and restrooms there, some people sell fresh food at the seafront, theres also a mobile bar - perfect! You can find parking spaces for free (3min walk to the water). A good mix of people: not too many children (alcohol is permitted here), some young college crowds, couples, older people - I love it!

If youre looking to party, the R.A. Apffel East Beach is your ultimate destination! Located at the far eastern tip of the island, East Beach is famous for its great festivals and live concerts held throughout the summer months. The beach park is home to a pavilion, boardwalk and entertainment stage as well as restrooms, showers, chair and umbrella rentals, concessions and other amenities. Unlike most of Galvestons beaches, alcohol is permitted at East Beach. Each summer, the park hosts the annual American Institute of Architects (AIA) Sandcastle Competition where thousands flock to see elaborate structures built from sand.

Attended the Sandcastle competition 2019. Great public beach option for Galveston visitors. Theres free parking and outdoor showers. Theres also changing stalls and a playground, in addition to manned lifeguard stations and port o pottys at various stretches. Traffic is pretty terrible so plan accordingly. It took 35 minutes to get from Stewart Beach to East Beach parking on the main drag because of the event. It would be smart to park at a hotel and take the event parking shuttle if you have that option. Im not sure if the kona shaved ice stations are there daily, but they were today.

This is a great beach if you want to stay on the beach all day. $15 to park on weekends, and $38 to rent umbrella & 2 chairs. We got there around 11 and stayed until 6--our boys are teenagers and we enjoyed the entire time. The snack bar is adequate, but I would recommend bringing food/drinks.The free section looked very nice as well, but to get a premium spot you need to get there early.

Ran the sandcrab 5K last Saturday. Running on the beach there was amazing, particularly at night. The waves were hypnotic. The course was not very well laid out; you had to run into everyone elses flashlights on the way back and it was hard to see. There were also floodlights at the finish that were blinding. I ran into the side and another runner trying to find the finish line.

The wife and I live going here off season. Its peaceful, great views, far from the mainstream Galveston and its free. During the summer season you have to pay to park anywhere near the beach. Free parking is about 1/2 mile from the beach.Off season is very quiet. There are a few people fishing but thats about it. We like to walk along the beach, take pictures and hunt for sea shells. There are a few sand bars around that make great sitting and/or picnic spots. During the summer season they have umbrellas along the beach, its understandably much more crowded but its still better than along the seawall if you want to spend the day on the beach. One warning, its ALWAYS windy here. That means the dry sand areas will be picking up sand and depositing it all over your body and if you dont tie down your light items youll be chasing them down the beach all day. Come prepared.

This side of East Beach is undoubtedly the best beach in all of Galveston. I always come here when visiting from Houston and most who are looking for a relaxing, less stressful spot are as well. There is free parking and the beach has a lot less restrictions than the others. The free part is really what matters the most. No worries, just drive there and chill or dive in. You can set up tents, drink, smoke (tobacco of course :) and kick it with your family, friend, loved ones, whatever. Also, the beach is very secluded from the rest of the island and stretches out quite far. So if you were wondering where the best place to go is, congratulations you found it

The water is not the best clarity wise and there is an odor when you pull up to the parking lot. At any rate, we had a fun time.

No shower wash down, very over crowded, the worst is that they dont allow you to bring your own tent(umbrella is ok), you have to rent an umbrella and two chairs for $44 on top of $15 entry fee. Very commercialized.Just go to any of the beach along seawall blvd, beach is free, parking max $10, cheaper if u dont park all day, much less crowded, and no restriction on what kind of tent.

This is the least crowded beach in Galveston and my preference by far. You can use a radio flyer wagon to haul an ice chest, chairs and umbrellas out near the water which I highly recommend versus carrying everything. The restrooms and snack bar are a bit far but theyre better than a port-o-potty. If youre nice to them, the umbrella guys will let you borrow their electric screwdriver to drill into the sand for your umbrella. This helps get it down deep enough so it doesnt blow away. Otherwise, plan to bring your own because the wind will pick up and theres a lot of room for your umbrella to travel.
