Great mountain biking trails. Some spots were muddy, but I had a really great time. Felt like an adventure

Loblolly is an great place to disappear into, right in the middle of Gainesville. Take the second trail spur to the right, and get to the Hogtown Creek in a jiffy. You can just imagine all the floridians who gathered along the banks over the years. Walk with a friend; sit and meditate; explore! The best time to go is after theres been a good rain, and the creek is really flowing, but its always beautiful - sun up to sundown - no matter when you go. Another Gainesville Gem - Enjoy!

Gives you a very remote feel while in the middle of the city. Enclosed canopy forest, close to the creek. Lots of roots, best bring good shoes or hiking boots (preferred). Good for a nice bike ride, but again, a lot of roots so may be a slight challenge for beginners.

Not much you can do about parking, but other than that its an average trail. It has a very nice creek to observe.I wouldnt get innit though. You can go to possum creek and use that creek as it is the headwaters and not contaminated by run off or sewage.

Great place to wander. Easy path if thats all you can do, or smaller paths off if you want to get into the brush. You are in the middle of town, but it feels like you could get lost forever.

Great park, but only if you can find it! Google maps will direct you to trail heads, not to parking areas! We only found the parking area (5 cars) by mistake when we were following the trail. Try to park next to the other park nearby (Massey?) and just walk. Water was off limits today but the walk itself was flat, sandy and quite enjoyable. Cant wait to go back! You can also try following directions to Loblolly Learning Community, that is where we found the five parking spaces.

This nature walk follows a shaded/wooded straight path. There were several people walking their dogs along the creek nearby. The creek has a brown tinge probably from run-off. There’s a short wooden pathway that goes over the creek. Overall a nice path to walk on and it’s convenient to west side park too.

5 star experience. There is a board walk that runs through the woods on onto a trail. The trail ultimately leads to the other end of the park where there is a monument and parking. Not sure of the intended rules but dogs were present. A creek runs through the area creating opportunity for scenic picture taking. Be aware there are endless mosquitos in these woods !

This lovely park is nestled in between 34th St. and 32nd St. The entrance is a tiny hidden alley at NW 5th Avenue. Go slowly on 34th st. otherwise you will miss it. It only has three parking spots. It is open from dawn to dusk. Inside you can not hear any traffic and only birds and the sound of the gently babbling brook. There are few benches to sit an relax. It is a great place to walk or jog. Hard to even share how refreshing this little (big) piece of wild Florida is in fear that it will be overrun with visitors. So happy the City of Gainesvilles sale to the nearby developer fell through. His paid spokesperson, who happened to a former mayor of Gainesville, go figure, said he wasnt going to develop on the land but then they backed out after city put in that the site could not be built on in the $1 million bill of sale. He only wanted to build a few things on it. Marvelous place hope the city doesnt decide to sell it again in the future.

Very cool place. I am a huge fan of the swing sets that were there. They were stout and sturdy and it brought me back to when I was a kid and didn’t have to fear the swing set breaking, instead I just Swamy with everything within me. That is what I did At Loblolly; I swang like there was no tomorrow. The creek is also very cool. Very cool foliage and trails. Would recommend.

The trail on the northern side of NW 8th Ave is short but mostly wonderful. The part with a boardwalk is great, the rest OK. At the end of the trail, at NW 16 Ave it is apparent that the city of Gainesville fails to upkeep the place and its challenging to even empty trashcans.

The park is split into two parts on 8th Ave, North and South. The South side is a bit more of a nature trailed area with the North side (near Westside Park) consisting of a long elevated wooden walkway through the forest.

For a walk in an urban woods. Stream is impaired and not for wading due to fecal coliform bacteria and nitrates from urban run off and the surprising number of septic tanks in the area. Trail is well maintained. Whole length of this section of well maintained trail may be 1/2 to 3/4ths of a mile. Its better than walking on the sidewalk next to busy roads but nothing to go out of your way for.

I love this nature park and walk. It lines the famous Hoggetowne Creek of Gainesville. It’s such a gorgeous walk. Good for biking or walking. (Maybe u can’t ride bikes-might want to check first.)This is a very long walk. So be prepared if you walk the entire length. You’ll end up on different sides of Gainesville by the time you get done with it. I like to just walk on one side about half way unless I plan for half a day.

Its a quiet short hike in the middle of town and close to University of Florida campus. There is Creek on the trail which gives you gorgeous overlook and its water is so clean. Swimming is not allowed in the creek. I couldnt find any admission fee for the trail at entrance. At some part of the trail, you cross 8th Ave. Although you can turn around when reaching to 8th. There are some wildlife such as dears, owls, vultures, armadillos, etc. If youre lucky eanough to observe them.

This area is truly a hidden gem. There are a couple of winding trails following a small stream that passes through the park, perfect for walking, running, biking, etc. It is usually fairly quiet and private. We enjoyed going out with friends, taking our dogs, and stringing up some hammocks across the stream for a relaxing after lunch. Minimal parking, though.

Probably one of the best parks in Gainesville. Easy to navigate, multiple trails, peaceful streams, and much larger than you might originally expect. Small bridges cross over the streams at various points. Would recommend bug spray or a brisk pace in the hottest months. Wear good shoes!
