I was here for my best friends wedding photo shoot and the crappie photographer brought us here on the hottest day and we were not the only ones there we saw a few snakes in the dead grass and as far as we could see everything was dead but we also didnt make it past the gate area!
You can drive in for easy access and park (fee required), or you can just park outside the gates and walk in—I recommend the former so this place can continue to be kept up. Great walking trails, and well kept too. Has easy American river access, but unfortunately it does not connect with the bike trails near Hazel and the river.
Nice place to go in the morning, best to buy an annual pass. Save money if you want to drive or launch a boat.
Just an amazing place all around. Beautiful scenery. And its kept really clean.
This a private conservatory. Be prepared to pay. This is a great park. Not very crowded. Nice boat launch for small boats and kayaks. Looks like people that like to fish are the normal crowd. There are some trails around and access to lots of cobble stone beaches. Not more than 5min walk from parking to the water on busy days, much less on any regular day. There is a HUGE oak tree that shades enough space for several cars to park underneath. Its fun to park and chat with a friend.
If your a Fisher its great, the hiking is more or less beginner level. Theres no running water and the bathrooms are usually full of flies during the summer. If you are one of the homeless its great . Its a bit off the road, but the walkers love it.
LOVE this little cove! Great side trip after a walk on the trail. A fishermans favorite.
I love this place! Its abundant with wildlife, wildflowers and extremely beautiful skies. We have rabbits all the way up to Mountain Lions. Safe for family and a great place to cleanse your soul on a hard day. Hope you come by.
We usually take the dogs, but on Thanksgiving the kids are forced to come, too :-). Beautiful day. Threw sticks in the water for our lab mix, skipped some rocks.
Really beautiful area. Multiple trails and gorgeous wildlife. You can find turtles, ducks, swans, fish, birds, and squirrels here. I wish more people would keep their dogs on leashes, though.
Dont come here. I want it all to myself. Seriously though this place is nice. Also seems to be the spot to fish, not that I know about fishing. People here are always here to fish.
Launched kayak here and stopped at river bend park. Great relaxing ride downstream
I quite enjoy the peacefulness. Especially how few people seem to be about.....
Beautiful. There is a calm off ram before the rapids of the river. So its easy to paddle board around the haven even when the water is rough. You have to pay for parking though. $5.
Great place to fish for salmon as they stack up in a big hole here with a good drift for beeds . But it can get really crowded when the fish are running good. They call it combat fishing when it gets crowded here through October. So its better early in the season. Like through September. After that its standing room only. Theres plenty of parking in the upper parking lot and a bathroom. I recommend bringing waders as most of the other guys use them . So you have to get out in the water a little ways to be able to get a good swing on your line without running into the guy down stream from you.
Its a wonderful park to take the kids too! Some fun easy trails that give the kids a feeling of adventure without being difficult at all. The kids loved to see the turtles, swans, and ducks at the pond.
This gem of a park is overlooked. They have a lovely small pond with great walking trails and finishing. Or you can stroll right along the river and enjoy some great views. If you circle the whole park its a walk of about 3 miles. Great for running because not many people use the park so you can really enjoy the peace and quiet.
Great place to launch kayak or raft to float down the river.
Good parking, clean. Boat ramp.
Nice scenery, great place to chill and cool off
A wonderful location
Great mountain bike trails
The place is alright. Parking costs $5 for a vehicle only, more with additional or larger motors. There are public restrooms. There is a small boat launch. Salmon fishing? It gets packed and shoulder to shoulder during the late seasons.
Great area to walk the dogs
The water is very high and moving very fast right now...
Pond and multiple points for river access, plenty of parking
Not crowded. Safe for the kids. Only 5 bucks to park. Water is cool and clean.
Great for little ones. Its small enough to keep tabs on them while they roam around. My kids have gotten a little big for this pond.
Excellent river front scenery. Poorly attituded fishermen. Was not welcomed without a pole. Only a spot for fishing, apparently.
The beauty of the American River and its surrounds is closer than you think. This is a great spot for hikes, bird-watching and nature-admiring. If you park close to Equus Court in Fair Oaks, you can hoof it past the toll booth if you would rather not pay the fees.Driving towards the main gate, youll see a path to the right of the yellow gate. Take this path and meander until you reach the pond! I have a horrible sense of direction so I cant tell you walk 10 yards at 2:00 in a north-easterly direction but if you take this path, youll still have a beautiful walk, trust me.The pond links to the river and during times when the river is high, this place fills up too. Im pretty sure someone released their pet goldfish in here because sometimes Ill see a large orange object in the water; a goldfish on steroids, I kid you not. Another friend has also seen it, but you have to be here when the light is right, when the water is still and when no one else is looking. Maybe Ill call it Bessie (instead of Nessie). You can also spot turtles sunning themselves, numerous waterfowl and a large-mouthed bass lurks in the deep.
Great place but no bikes aloud
Good spot for trails and enjoying nature
Beautiful and peaceful with nice trails and even nicer views
Beautiful place for hiking and swimming
Careful how long u park. Had my window smashed. Nothing stolen just broken
Boat launch fishing swimming feeding ducks picnic public bathroom nice River area
I spend a lot of time here. Fishing or biking through or taking the family to the hatchery. Great park!
Wonderful place to explore nature. Be aware of snakes and poison oak.
Great place to do salmon fishing or to take the dogs out for a swim or run so long as you dont get in the fishermans way. The parking isnt as big up front but the back lot is good size. There are toilets there incase your bodily fluids need to be released. Also its in the city so your not far from any store if you forget something.
Was a beautiful place...great swimming for the kids. Not a lot of people
Great place to launch a small fishing boat.
Great spot on the river to take a nature walk or relax and listen to the river flow.
Secluded tranquil park off the American River
Great place to exercise or just take a walk! The fishing is way to over crowded!
Nice place for a walk. But no fish here
Beautiful place. Family friendly.
Great fishing spot and boat launch.
LOVE this spot to fish or just relax
