Nice easy hike to enjoy with kids and family with views of the river. Really wish signage for the trails was better since there are so many random forks that make it easy to get lost. For first time visitors, an out and back might be better than trying to find a loop.

Great park along the river. Hiking and biking trails throughout. Very busy on New Years Day- we had to park in a nearby neighborhood.

Nice park! Plenty of tables and trails. Bikes galore. Watch out for bicyclists though if you are walking. Danger of being run over by them on those trails. River walk, geese, pick a nick tables, bbq grills, trees.

First visit and I really wanted to love my local park. There is a limited amount of parking and the trails are littered with dog poop. Cmon people: it is not that difficult to be a responsible dog owner. Clean up after who you chose to care for.

Had a wonderful Hike down the Trail. Everything was in Bloom, absolutely beautiful hike. So many varieties of plants, trees, fauna, and even got to see Wildlife from vantage point of Trail.Parking is limited so arrive early, easily reached from Fair Oaks via Bicycle. Didnt go down to water but San Juan Rapids can be heard from Trail. Went out with younger group and they really had Fun. Foot Trail is pretty flat but there are some rocks and some traverse skills needed to go to farther reaches. Warm Up station at Park behind restrooms next to Parking. Handicap accessible, gentle slope coming back up to Parking lot and creekside spot in shade to rest. Bring Water on trail in Warmer weather. People were friendly in passing on Trail. Please pack it in pack it out, was cleaner than many other spots along river, only found 4 very small trash items to carry out. A good place to visit.

The nature provided besides the river. Running parallel to Sacramento Waldorf. There unfortunately is not a park, but provides a wonderful soccer field and work out station besides the restrooms. Parking is enforced for 3 hours at a time. Parking enforcement is very aware and photographs the lot hourly. I noticed this as I park there and walk below to drop off my child at Sacramento Waldorf.

What can I say about Bannister Park, Ive been coming here since I was a baby and Im 37 now. This place hold so many memories for me. my mom brought my brother and I here for so many walks as children we would catch lizards and we would catch minnows and tadpoles and frogs to take home with us. Sometimes we followed the bike trail down to the bridge and sometimes we felt more adventurous and went off on the mini little side trails that you can take to the river. That big hill at the beginning is always fun to come up especially if youre on a bike lol. I live in Texas now and I miss the American River and the bike trail and on my recent visit went on a walk at Bannister down to the river along the bike trail there and found it just as beautiful and Serene as I remembered it.

Really cool local park in the Fair Oaks area. The only problem is that their has been an increase in cars being broken into. I believe people watch for people that look like they are going on a bike ride and will not be returning for several hours. I often run by this spot and once a week I see a car with a window that has been recently broken. I will not park at this location.

I absolutely love this place. Its a perfect connection to the American River trails and the river itself. Its pretty easy to get lost so stick to the main paved roadway if you dont know where youre going. Maps are available online tho if youre feeling adventurous you can enter the back trails if you take the right that follows the big hill once you enter the park on the paved path or you can continue down the paved way to eventually get to the bridge and the water. Perfect place to skip rocks too if thats your thing (its definitely mine!) More of an out and back type of path there isnt a defined loop although you can easily map one out because there are plenty of routes to explore. Atmosphere is calm and relaxing. There are some scratchy plants during the summer months so bring pants if you are averse to some scratches on your shins and calves. Great place for dogs, horses, kids and people.

If you arent familiar with the trails and are depending on google maps trails to show you the way, stay on the paved path. My dog and I got lost around the Sacramento Bar because the path on google maps was directing me in a place of a very narrow path and up and down hills that I didnt trust. Nobody was around and we hadnt seen anyone for about 30 mins. We had to go back the way we came to be sure we stayed safe. The paved paths are very nice and lead you to Jims bridge over the river.

A pleasant Fair Oaks Park with about a 1.5 mile trail leading to the American River, near the San Juan Rapids. Bring your fishing pole and have a good time fishing from the the foot bridge!!! Many dirt trails leading off from the main paved walking / bike trail. If you are new to the park, do not be mislead by the River Access sign leading off the paved trail. Stay on the paved trail, it will lead to the river, then on later trips go exploring on the dirt trails. Have fun at this great Fair Iaks park. Also note, after 5pm on Mon - Fri you will need a park permit to park in the parking lot. Other times no permit needed but there is a highly enforced 3 hour parking limit. Have fun, this park is worth visiting.

This park is just a few sports fields and some warm up equipment to exercise. The parking is by permit only, and only the sports teams that practice there can get them. You will get a ticket if you park in the lot. All the great things people are saying is about the space between this and Sacramento Bar Park. Go there instead, its just up the road.

This is a great place to train on muscle-ups and other things at the sport station. Saturday’s this one guys named Alex trains here and is always so encouraging in helping others grow in muscle exercises and he does it for free. This guy should be in the competitions. The trail is also wonderful to go bike riding on, it links to the American river trail.
