This park is on my top 5 fav parks in the Fair Oaks/Orangevale area. Large, spacious park with lots of walking space, playground, dog park, bike area, baseball cages, soccer area, and trails to the nearby nature path. The dog park is very large with a designated side for large dogs and secondary side for small dogs. Ive never had any troubles with parking or feeling like the place is too congested. Definitely mine and my pups go to.

I want to like this park .its centrally located where we live and is large enough to accommodate 3 little league baseball fields surround by space to hold several soccer or Lacross games at once ...its biggest problem is parking which gets gobbled up if one of these fields is being used and every parent decided to attend. The bathrooms are lacking and is not uncommon to see the porta potties out when they expect large gatherings ... And since we live in a suburban sprawl this is really the only area for whatever wetlands used to be here for the birds and the birds are plentiful here and leave nice little bird droppings pretty much everywhere you walk. Be nice if the county put some money into the park and redesigned the layout. They could have a first rate facility here but as it is now its my opinion that the good folks that live here in Fair Oaks deserve better.

Im there early morning with the dogs every morning Im in town. The park is a wonderful spot to practice ones mindfulness as you stroll through the seasons. The 1 1/3 mile paved pathway around the park its easy to keep track of your daily steps with 1,2, or 3 times around when the schedule allows. It is also a very clean park with 99% of folks picking up after their dogs.

Seasonal kids soccer, baseball fields. Walking trails, parking lots. High elevation point. Almost always breezy or windy, where it might not be at your house. Lots of grass areas for whatever you come up with. Can be overly crowded during game seasons. Off season, plenty of space. Close to residential areas.

Lots of great fields to play on, and several playgrounds to choose from. There are several paved parking lots and an unpaved overflow parking area. Despite these parking choices, this still is not enough to accommodate all visitors. Many people park along the internal streets which constricts the flow of traffic and causes near hit accidents.

Im from Idaho and come to California to visit my sister 2 or 3 times a year. My sister and mother spent a lot of time at Phoenix Park when Mom was alive. We continue the tradition and visit the park with Spencer whenever we get a chance. The facility is well maintained and comfortable. Most of the people are pleasant and easy going. Really nice place to spend time.

Great family park and excellent for young ones. There is a pint sized BMX track that perfect for the smallest riders. Little whoops and tunnels and wood bridges.Theres a dog park in one corner of the park. Its ok. It just a big square no trees mostly grass. But it seems to usually have some dogs running around. Good place to bring your pooch pal for some socialization.Cons - odd layout with parkingPros - lots of space for multiple soccer games and room left for the rest of us

Beautiful park. I have brought my dogs here for many years. Recently received an off leash ticket. Very expensive ticket $220 thru Sac County. Just make sure you are diligent about leash law being imposed regardless of circumstances (well trained , only off for a short stretch, on sidewalk, putting leash on when approached, throwing a ball or frisbee...etc.) or common sensibilities. The officers imposing tickets get paid per ticket (I was told by park management) and Sac County gets way too much money that probably does not make its way back to our community. Bad management...beautiful park.

Phoenix park has a lot to offer. We go for the baseball with the Fair Oaks Orangevale Little League. Their concessions stand is really great and they take pride in the diamonds and facilities. Parking is always a NIGHTMARE. Sometimes groups use the soccer fields for practice and it makes the entire area a congested nightmare. They have two smaller play structures, one near the front and those fields and the other is on the way back behind the baseball fields. There is a walking track all around but no lighting at night or evenings. The Phoenix fields vernal pools sometimes have guided tours but during late spring and summer it is dried up and watch out for snakes in the tall grass! The trails are nice but short. Near the baseball side is the Fair Oaks VFW hall which isnt part of the park but has its own events, parking lot and street entrance from Hazel ave where the regular entrance to the park is off of Sunset. Near the VFW hall is the Fair Oaks Community Garden which is ran by the UC Master Gardeners. They hold plant sales, compost talks, garden tours, and harvest festival throughout the year. They have their own website and information side from Phoenix park. The park also opened a large bicycle obstacle course where they hold competitions and events through Fair Oaks Park and Rec. Overall this is a decent park if you live nearby and can walk or have something to do there, otherwise the play structures and parking lots are not as great compared to other Fair Oaks and Orangevale parks nearby.
