What a memory. Used to visit a lock and dam with dad 40 years ago. Have not ben up close to one since then. Nothing special about a slow moving barge that takes an hour to go from one level of the river to the other... but the memories of my dad made this visit worth it!!! Every child should visit to learn how things move around the country.

Never been to a lock and dam facility before. I was excited to see what was going on. Nice facility with public restrooms that are clean, an observation platform (elevated, stair accessible), and a great view up and down the river. Drinking fountain also available. An overall neat experience for anyone.

Great view of the Mississippi and a place to where you can watch the commercial barges and pleasure craft lock through. Have been going there for years. Nice observation deck and a couple of benches to send on on the observation deck. Try to go there every time I come to Dubuque

This is a cool place. Lots of trees for shade and birds flying around playing tag. Got to see the dam in action as a ferry went thru from south to North. A barge also passed thru the gates going the same way. Wonder how often that happens. Definitely worth checking out for a small fee of $1.

Great view of the Mississippi River. I appreciate the signage and information. Theres a nice observation deck elevated high enough so you can view barges and ships using the locks at a close distance. Not very handicap accessible, though.
