This movie house had hundreds of movies and impressively some movies were quite updated from Asian to Western. Since we were in the city, thus we decided to watch a local movie/documentary about the story of a man determined to build an opera house in the jungle that took place in 1982. It was great indeed! The title was “Burden of Dreams This movie house was more kinda like Netflix and chill. A must try!

The Sie Film Center is easy to access from public transportation. it is nestled among several other businesses which providefood and libations as well as the renowned tattered cover bookstore if you arrive early and want to go browsing. there is a lovely small common area shared among the local businesses providing outdoor seating far enough away from traffic to be secluded and quiet. Inside is a comfortable size 2 lobby with a full bar and real, not plastic, glasses. The theater size is big enough but yet still cozy and intimate. Staff are friendly, courteous, competence and smile a lot. I went to a political event held there that was catered and it was very lovely. I highly recommend this venue for a wonderful experience of Denver film culture.

The Sie FilmCenter (pronounced “see” or “sea”) is our finest independent movie theater and the home of the Denver Film Society. It shares the Lowenstein complex with the Tattered Cover and Twist and Shout, forming a multimedia Mecca, a cultural rendezvous unmatched in central Denver. Plus, there’s a Chipotle! The FilmCenter itself is an elegant establishment. There is a large, spacious lounge lots of seats and tables, a full bar, and a counter with unique snacks. The three screening rooms are very comfortable, and apparently they were carefully constructed so there’s not a bad seat in the house. The staff members are friendly and helpful. This theater is the center of the annual Denver Film Festival, and it is the most dynamic place in town at that time. It is also host to many special shows and programs throughout the year, from live broadcasts of opera, ballet, and classic drama... to lectures and discussions... to various film series cosponsored by the Tattered Cover. The films typically shown here are strange, provocative - artsy in the best way - and often fun. It’s very important to have choices beyond the Landmark chain, as much as I appreciate them. It’s surprising that in a city of this size there are not more alternatives. The founders of the Sie FilmCenter are (were?) Anna and John J. Sie. I can feel annoyed at how the wealthy, with their usually ill-gotten gains, provide so much that is needed by our cultural institutions. It can’t be denied, however, that the Sie’s contribution is a gift that keeps on giving to Denver’s film community.

Another gem of a theatre me and my wife found. They play lots of foreign and independent films here and I am in love with this place and there popcorn. I think they are owned by Landmark Theatres who I mentioned in previous comments works with my favorite theatre... The Mayan. The SIE has a very great staff and are very nice people. I recommend anyone to come here who is a movie buff.

Ive never seen a movie here that I didnt love. They usually only show indie movies or things not being shown at the big theaters and theyve always got a great selection! The theater is nice and clean and snacks are extremely reasonable in price. We got two beers, popcorn, a pretzel, and a bulk snack (they have bins with scoops where you can fill a container with whatever you want) and it was under $20! Definitely a nice change of pace and my favorite movie theater in Denver.

One of the few theaters left with personality and that gives you a chance to see new and interesting films!

Just returned to the Denver/Front Range area and immediately signed on as a member of the Sie/Denver Film Society based solely upon their line-up. Earlier this afternoon, I went to my first showing at the Sie. The venue was (initially) amazing. Available parking. Reasonably-priced concessions. Personable staff. But the longer I sat in the theatre, the more I smelled what was obviously an uncleaned seat and foul, disgusting body odor. I ended up leaving about 2/3 into the showing because it became too noxious. In the future, when I attend Sie showings, Ill bring disinfectant wipes for the seat before I settle in for an (outstanding!) film. Although I appreciate that the Sie has non-fabric seats for purposes of hygiene and viewer comfort, that only works if those seats are kept clean . . . I expect to give a 5-star review in the future! (Truly amazing films!)

Review №39

I came here for a free screening and would NEVER pay to see a film here. it is a tiny tiny theatre and has horrible concessions service. I ordered a large soda ($5.75ish) since it comes with refills and no popcorn since there were no refills on any of the sizes (all other theatres do refills on the large size). The soda machine is self-serve and there was no ice, and the only diet option (Diet Coke) didnt have the spout on it and apparently the couldnt fix that. Since I am diabetic I prefer not to get full calorie soda (due to the carb-y nature of it) so I asked if there was any other option for me. The guy at concessions was nice enough to offer me unsweetened tea which came from a bottle and filled my large soda cup about halfway. I realized that was going to be it and I couldnt get a free refill as with the soda and asked for a refund letting him know Id be happy to pay for the tea itself ($2.75ish) He rudely replied Really? You want me to refund you the difference? It is only a few dollars. If you do the math I was charged almost double and Im not sure how much these employees are getting paid or how unvalueable he thinks my hard-earned money is that a few dollars overcharge is not a lot, but in my opinion that was completely rude and made me feel very jipped that he would even try to keep a few dollars for something that I didnt receive. Not only did I get just half a cup, but I would get no refills at all for almost double the price of what I actually received and then on top of that when asking for the refund he made me feel uncomfortable for even asking because he was nice enough to even offer me another drink (his words). This employees customer service seemed nice enough at first but his true colors came out when I wasnt satisfied and realized he jipped me. All because their own soda machine didnt work and they had no way of fixing it (this same employees words). Do NOT sell me something that you CANNOT give me and then offer me something HALF the price WITHOUT also offering me a refund of what I was overcharged. Also, good customer service should NOT be reserved only for customers that are fully satisfied. Just because I had an issue does NOT mean you can change face and treat me with LESS respect. For this reason I cannot recommend anyone in the fear that if I do someone else may be overcharged or treated wrongly if they arent 100% satisfied. Just go to a big brand theatre like AMC or Regal where they treat every customer the same and are willing to give refunds if overcharged without treating you lesser for asking.
