This place is beautiful! We loved hiking the many different trails! I will say it is difficult to know where the cave is exactly depending where you start your hike. We found a local that ended up taking us to it after hiking for an hour or so, so it all worked out. There is a kid park and a dog park, walk behind the dog park and start the trail back there and you will be much closer to the cave! It was very nice and shady, didnt have any problem with bugs or mosquitos (which is super weird for Texas!) Good for all age levels. Its also a bike trail, which would be super fun (but looks kind of hard, a good challenge). We went on a Saturday and had no problem with crowds or anything. We cant wait to go back and do some of the trails we didnt go on. (A couple of the pictures are not on the actual trail we were a bit more adventurous)

Enjoyed walking the trail here. Was really busy. Lots of families. Thankfully most dont walk deep into the woods... being that we are still in a pandemic... like to keep my distance from strangers. Parking lots were full. They appeared to have kayak rental and a pavilion with plenty picnic tables. Theres also geese and ducks out on the water.

I really love this lake. Plenty of parking spaces, a covered picnic area for gatherings, walking trails and a playground for the kids. You could even go fishing here. Excellent for family outings.

It has a nice trail. We tried to bike it, but theres a lot of places on the trail youll have to carry your bike. I wouldve rather just hiked if I knew the trails were going to be that tough in some places. Theres a bathroom and it was open. Take toilet tissue and soap with you just in case it is out. I was glad I had stuff with me because they bathroom didnt have toilet tissue or paper towels

Great place. We had a nice lunch at the picnic table. Very natural and well maintained.

Great park in Denison with nice clean shoreline, playground, restrooms with A/C and a boat ramp for boats with trolling motor only. Lots of places to do some fishing on shore or by boat. Nice trail around the lake with half out in the open and the other half in the trees with some neat elevations with views. Canoes for rent and the hike and bike trail give lots of options for things to do here. Great place to spend the day with the family.

If you havent walked the trail to the cave i suggest you do, it has breathtaking views from all angles.

Love this spot. Use to go with grandpa as a child. My dog enjoys our walks, so do I. Would really like to see folks clean up after there dogs though. Seems “it’s “ everywhere.

Had a birthday party and it went fine. The only problem we did have was not knowing that there were no grills.

People dont know how to teach there kids how to respect other people who are trying to enjoy the park.

Waterloo lake park is must to visit, a very nice place to walk and be with nature. You can do fishing, kayaking. City of Denison has this kayak rental for $10 an hour, just be back on time so you wont ended up paying $50. We did trail walking, while fishing on the bank. It has an easy and hard way, if your a lil adventurous youll enjoy the hard one, just be careful not to fall on the cliffs. We sure gonna come back for kayaking.

Its always a clean park and never fails to disappoint. The trails never get old and I find something new everyday.

Its a beautiful lake to walk around. The trail is only a little but challenging on a couple of places for those of us who are not in the best shape. Lots of trees and quite peaceful. Weve made this our regular walking spot.

The park/lake has a nice trail around it and through the woods. We rode our mountain bikes and it was great; however, the trails are not clearly marked and it was a little difficult to stay on the proper trail. Other than that, nice area and trails.

Grew up with this park. Now there are rentable kayaks to cruise around on the lake in and it bring a whole new level to the joy I had as a child.

Great public park. Walking track, 2 playgrounds, dog park, fishing, hiking trails, bike trails, and large enough areas to fly a kite, play games or when it ever snows enough a great sledding hill.

We come here for all occasions, (birthday parties, weddings, etc). The park is always clean. We like to feed the ducks and hike around the lake often. Grandchildren love to fish here. Gorgeous property!

My Daughter had my Grandsons Birthday party this past Sunday under the pavilion at Waterloo. All the kids and adults had a good time.

Excellent place for mountain biking. It’s a good 1 hour drive from north Dallas but worth it. Several loops with beginner, intermediate and advanced trails. Visited this twice during my stay.There are some signs and markings but could be better. You have to figure out the rest on your own.Elevation gain isn’t much (under 300 ft. but to be expected given TX). Nice single track, some switchbacks, and a few jumps. Creeks and Caves were cool too.DORBA’s site lists additional trails that I visited multiple times.Frisco NW Community Park Arbor Hills Nature Reserve Erwin Park Waterloo, Denison Northshore Trail, Flower Mound

We are so blessed to have such a beautiful piece of nature in our little town. This lake is full of wonderful creatures, from blue herons & geese to beavers & turtles, to the slightly more dangerous snakes & coyotes. They have done an amazing job cutting new trails over the past few years, making it an even more perfect place to run or hike. Its usually pretty quite, but summer brings more people out which is a good thing - the lake should be enjoyed by as many people as possible! There are bathrooms and picnic tables, as well as a pavilion & playground. There is a newly planted butterfly garden (in the shape of a butterfly!) closer to the north entrance of the forest. Im excited to see it once it is in full bloom

I have so many memories of Waterloo Lake growing up. From the trails, the cave and fishing it was all wonderful. Im happy I get to take my own family now. I think the City of Denison has done a great job on the upkeep of the area and beatification.

Huge beautiful park. Dog park opening December 1st. They have a walking area. Great places to play on the playground. The lakes are beautiful. Truly an amazing place to spend a day.

I absolutely love coming here! Hubby, puppies and I always have a blast enjoying the park trails, dog park and the little creek! We havent gone to the lake/picnic side yet but every time we pass by it, it is beautiful!The pups sure do love enjoying the dog park and the track! Its nice and shaded with so many lovely trees. It is a truly beautiful park!PSA to other pet parents: please, please pick up after your doggies! They provide multiple poopy bags throughout the area if you left your bags at home! With the influx of warm weather, Ive ran into a bunch of piles that are just left there. :(

I come here to fish and get away from stress. Its so beautiful and the Walking trails are great and if you are lucky you will find the cave there.

Walked one of my fur babies for the first time around the lake and absolutely loved the view. I cannot wait to see what the updates bring. :)

I come hear many times a week to walk the lake at lunch time, or ride the mountainbike trails. Friends and I also come out here at the weekends to ride. My only slight criticism and this isnt a reflection on the park wardens or 98% of the other users, but there has been a lot of vandalism lately to park and trail signs and people spray painting the caves. Very immature and ruins it for others. But more than that, vandalising the signs on the trails is extremely dangerous for newbies as they dont know which direction to ride which could cause accidents at high speeds. It could also benefit from a DORBA open/closed sign for respectful riders. Minus the vandalism, this is a wonderful park Ive used for over 17 years.

This is a wonderful park in denison to go to! You can take your kids fishing here in the lake that is regularly stocked. There are bike and walking trails perfect for people who love to exercise and the scenery here is perfect during the spring and summer!
