This park is amazing! My family was looking for something to do while up in Denison and found this state park from a quick Google search. The pictures looked neat, but we were so surprised at what we had found. The place is gorgeous with lots to do! There are natural formations such as caves right in the cliff walls on the beach! Many amazing miles of trails to hike along the lake with fantastic views! A gorgeous sand beach into the massive lake! Lots of deer and wild life! We even spotted a bobcat while there! They even appear to have trails for 4 wheelers and other off-road motorized vehicles which is definitely not available at every park. They even have ramps set up for you to back your truck or trailer up to for unloading vehicles. Not a ton of people when we went this past Monday.10 out of 10 would recommend! Were definitely going to go back to actually camp over night in the near future!

It’s a good place to go for weekend. Convenient location, really close to Dallas. The lake is beautiful and the camping area is full facilities and good condition. The cleanest restroom I ever seen. But the hiking route is not a loop, which means you have to come back at same trail.

Also the facilities are very well kept. Bathrooms are kept clean and the shelters & campsites are immaculate when you arrive. The park staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. Lots of very good hiking to be had here with amazing views of the lake and the surrounding natural terrain. I didnt stay overnight, but the camping grounds were placed where you can also take advantage of the beatiful views Eisenhower SP has to offer. It also has a pretty sizeable area for launching boats.

We drove in from Denton after work, so it was already dark when we got here. Judging from the lack of lights we knew it would be a nice and quiet weekend. The staff was very friendly and got us checked-in really quickly. Since we arrived so late, there were only a few camping spots left with electricity and water hookups. We were able to get a spot (#40) in the Armadillo Hill camping area, fairly close to the restrooms. Before leaving the front office we were offered trail maps and pamphlets for local attractions. Our first impression of the park, once we were all set up, was that the restrooms and showers were very clean and well kept. Thats a definite big thumbs up! The showers have actual doors and plenty of space to shower and get dressed afterwards. The tent areas for the campsites around us were adequately spaced apart and it didnt feel like we were on top of one another. We have a fairly large tent (16x10) and had not problem fitting it on the tent pad.The next day we were able to explore quite a bit of the park. We decided to do some hiking before checking out some of the sights of nearby Denison. We chose to hike the Armadillo Hill Trail, which was about .8 mi. About 1/4 mi. into the hike, we discovered that part of the trail was under water, since there had been so much rain around that time. We ended up driving around the park to check out some of the other camping areas. We were surprised to discover how large this park actually is! Upon leaving the park to check out nearby Denison, we saw there was a big box where you could select firewood for 50¢ a stick. Most other state parks that weve been to have very overpriced firewood, so we brought our own. Its nice to know that the next time we come to this park, we can just buy firewood there for really cheap.I only had 2 minor gripes with our camping area. The water spout for the camp site next to us was really close to our tent area. Because of this, any runoff from the water spout would flow down towards the front of our tent pad. My other gripe was that our water spout and electrical hookup were quite a bit away from our tent pad. Luckily, I brought a 50 extension cable to run power to our tent, but we only had 1 of the extension cable actually inside of the tent.I look forward to coming and camping here again, and maybe staying in one of the other camping areas!

This park is prefect for the tent, pop-up, teardrop style or single axle trailer up to 18ft. There are only a hand full of spots big enough for RVs over 18ft. If you want to fish use the dock. there is no access from the camp sites to the water. Its a 40-120ft drop off from the edge of our campsite to the water.

Beautiful state park BUT:Such a beautiful and big state park for north tx, campsites and lighted fishing pier are great, the BUT is that its not handicap friendly, theres rocks and stairs to get to the beach area, they are working on the ramp and it looks like only WHEELS can handle that steep ramp, the other fishing area my husband and son checked it out for me and I was told that its also not handicap friendly so we went to the lighted pier and yes an accessible ramp. 5 stars for how beautiful this park is and the nature that it has to offer. If youre disabled and cant walk, the beach area isnt for us

The place was amazing and the beach was cool. Why three stars? The people of course.Labor day weekend - On a Friday and Saturday night, I was kept up by the loud crowd at the yacht club. I kept quiet the first night, but the second was too much. One the 3rd day, I asked who was in charge and the man at the entrance told me that the yacht club wasnt part of the state park and Id have to call 911 to get the issue resolved... at two-freaking-am?!?!?! Yea, right!! So, everyone on the park side has a ten oclock quiet hour time, but the yacht club doesnt need to bother with the time because theres a body of water keeping us apart, so that should be okay. I bet the nocturnal animals were delighted as well.

I was a bit taken aback by the fact that they were going to charge $5.00 per person just to drive in to the park. We werent even going to picnic. We just wanted to get out of the car and walk around and stretch our legs for maybe 30 minutes (were elderly). At my age, I have visited many, many state parks. This is the first one Ive seen that charges you just to drive in there and look. I totally agree with charging fees for overnight camping. But I do not agree with this. State taxpayers pay State taxes for State parks. Anyway, I just thought Id warn anyone else who might think this is a free State park. It is not.

Stayed this weekend with our scout troop at Eisenhower State Park. We were on a dead end road that had maybe sixteen campsites total. Our troop took six campsites and then there was one other family at one campsite. So seven out of the sixteen camp sites were being used.Friday night we arrived and all of our troop got things set up and everyone was in their tents by 9:30 except for myself and two other scoutmasters. The three of us were just sitting at a table in one of our sites with one little light and just talking about troop activities. A few minutes after 10:00 PM the park police roll by and park about two campsites down past us. The get out and walk in the dark with no lights past us to the camp site that the one family is at. They are over there a good five minutes. When they get done there they walk over into one of our troop campsites where everyone is already in bed and assumed asleep. At this point they are shining their flash lights all over the camp site and at all the tents. I walk over and explain that I’m a scoutmaster that’s we are on a Boy Scout campout and ask if I can help them. They ask me where my rent is at. I tell them at the campsite right across the road that you just walked past. They told me to go back to my campsite and they would talk with me in a minute. They didn’t just politely ask, they came in their with an attitude and was using a very aggressive tone and posturing. I tried to explain again that we were a scout troop and I was one of the leaders and again they told me to get back across the road. They woke up one of the adults that was asleep and chewed him out for using a generator after 10:00. Then they came over to where me and the other two scoutmasters were and very agressivly told us they could write us tickets for noise. We were simply sitting at a table talking in normal voices. They said if they can hear any noise from a campsite after 10 they can write you a ticket.I’ve never had a law enforcement person talk to me and treat me like these two did. I know they have a hard job and deal with all kinds of people. But they came up into the camp sites with a bad attitude and tone. They are the ones that give good police the bad rep.

Perfect place and great weather. Went with a group of 6 families with small children ranging from 4-10 years old. Tent camping and used the Shelters for staging food and weather contingency.Clean facilities and nearby bathrooms with shower. (and a soda vending machine)Well maintained and safe / patrolled area. Access to lake and fossils as well as a huge variety of outdoor options.A great time was had by all and we will do this again.Notes:Fire detector in shelter so no cooking inside shelter.Outside fire pit with attached grilling area. (Small)Tent camping is much easier on some shelters due to amount of safe level ground on the particular site. SH24 & SH25 were perfect but SH26 was not well suited to more than one small tent due to ground slope and large overhead limbs.SH26 is Directly across the gravel road from Ike’s Cabin so the combination would be great.Awesome fossils and animal tracks.Trash receptacles are abundant but not overflowing and they are well placed.Wood for fire available at entrance for a suggested donation of $0.50 / log.Kind and helpful staff.Highly recommended.

Great place to camp! My wife and I camped here in October when it was difficult to find a campground that wasnt full up. This one was actually full too, but they put us in overflow camping which happened to be an awesome little campground up on the hill above the lake, towards the back of the park in an area that was intended for private groups. It had a picnic pavilion, bathhouses and there were hookups in the gravel parking lot. Best part is we had it to ourselves except for one other rig.

-Pros: Eisenhower State Park has some beautiful views of the lake. The fishing pier is great. If youre into hiking, you will enjoy the trails. Boat rentals are available for nominal fees, I highly recommend it to everyone. Camp sites are plentiful but the Elm Point Camping area is closest to the designated swimming area. The Beach isnt that easy on the feet as its covered in rocky sand. It also covers a small area of the park, so space could be limited on a busy day. (I would recommend water shoes or sandals) Picnic tables can be found around the park but views of the lake are limited from the picnic areas.-Cons: Ive been there a few times but it just seems like some people just leave their trash around. I have come across some beer bottles that havent been picked up for a long time. The Beach area isnt the best for running around and having a good time without worrying about jamming your toes into some rocks.-Overall, Its just a great place for hiking the trails and enjoying the scenic views.

We went July 4th weekend. It was very hot and the swimming area was closed. You will see some deer. The staff at the office was very kind when checking in. And when we decided to check out and left early. The very first night we sat around the fire telling funny stories. Just our family of 5. I have 3 kids. Ages 10, 8, & 7. It was 11pm. (They have quiet hours starting at 10pm) One of the park patrols came by. Stopped and told us we needed to be quiet. I was very upset! But I was respectful and said yes maam. We will go to bed. We were not being loud! All we were doing was sitting around the fire telling funny stories as our fire died out before bed. When we heard 2 campsites over a group of adults being loud just minutes before! And you could hear loud bangs from fireworks still being shot from other parts of the lake. That left a bad taste in my mouth to start our holiday weekend like that. So we left early!
