This is a great roller bridge over the locks. Take the time to visit. I hope you like it as much as I did.
Well worth the drive. This area is very nice and well maintained.
Great bridge just sucks when the draw span is open
An excellent bridge for quickly reducing the height of your truck and trailer. You can try, but the bridge will always win.
Barge was going through but its fun to watch the swing span operate. As long as youre not in a rush.
There was a barge this morning. It was a beautiful morning so I put the top down on my convertible sat in the sun and enjoyed the quiet. I was late to work but it was wonderful!♡
The Rock Island side of the bridge has a little park where you can admire the river and some of the old architecture that was used when the base was built
Open right up cant ask for more than that.
Interesting historic bridge but not a reliable way to cross the river. Barges have the right of way and you may have to wait a long time 15 to 40 minutes if all goes well.
It was one of the first days Ive been able to get out and go for a long walk and Im so happy we chose to go here!! The river views were amazing and I love all the info thats available to read:)
To watch a span section of the bridge turn half way open while the lock fills or empty water in or out so that barges or other boats to pass is a wonder of engineering.
Its a cool bridge to check out but wouldnt recommend it for daily use since it is closed sometimes.
It hasnt dropped me in the river yet.
Hasnt been replaced by a modern upgrade
Nice short cut when its open and always a great place to see Bald Eagles!
1st time seeing this bridge especially in action... Very cool.
My most favorite place when the draw is open. I love sitting and watching people in their cars complain how long it takes for a barge to pass.
Watching the bridge span swing was cool.
It is the oldest bridge on the mississippi in Illinois to the best of my knowledge.
I love being out does
Passed it on a barge lol
Living in QCA, normally I dont take the bridge when I see that its open for barge traffic. However, its kind of neat for visitors who are here in the qca temporarily to park on the bridge and watch a barge go by.
Nice bridge. I spend a lot of time sitting on it.
Was cool to see it swing open.
Use of this bridge is risky. I was caught in line of traffic because the swing span was open for forty five minutes due to barge traffic. High water and empty barges make it impossible to rotate the span.
Very smooth but I ride a boke
I love this bridge. The first bridge that crossed the Mississippi River 155 years ago. As a child i was aftaid of the railroad tracks on the upper part of the bridge. The sound was load and the bridge shook. I did not care for the 155 yr old bridge. The other day i hit the rdd light where the bridge opened so the barge could come through. I enjoyed the view and saw 2 eagles near the bridge. Beautiful!
Its a bridge! Though sometimes it opens up for barges and then it isnt.
Its a bridge. However, you can look through it and see the Mississippi flowing right below you!
Nostalgia..,.. View..... Awesome
It was badass
It was a neat experience to look at all of the engineering that it took to make this bridge. And all of the history!
I do not like the Government Bridge
I only had to wait 15 minutes while a barge was locked through. Still made it home by 4 p.m.
Peacful
The entertainment of watching the boats go thru as well as watching traffic turn around in the bridge due to impatience
The bridgespan was open
Its cool to see the bridge open for a ferry or ship to pass. If youre driving and dont have much time to spare, turn around and take another way because it takes at least 30 mins for the bridge to open let a ferry pass and close again. Its a nice bicycle trail between the two states
Very long wait when open
I travel this bridge every day
We didnt have to wait for a barge today
Very cool to see the bald eagles, as well as the swing span bridge in action.
Its a bridge
I remember being scared to death to go over this bridge as a child...
Cool old bridge. Neat architecture. NOT fun getting caught by a barge however.
It got me across the river with out falling in
Cool
Sat in my car waiting for this bridge for 20 minutes at 310-330am for no reason that I could see. Id honestly swim across the river before trying to take this bridge again
Fun to drive over, unless you are running late ;)
Great place to fish in the winter months.
Guaranteed break with barges
Cool
Unique
A bridge that never needs maintenance awesome
Historical bridge
Its spinning!!!!
Okay
Work
Sucks when the bridge is open for boats.
