Friendly staff, some great exhibits and great price.
This is a local museum showing our German heritage. It also has rotating displays from other museums. A very nice little museum, definitely worth a visit.
Very interesting museum with information about German heritage in the US as a whole and specifically in the Quad Cities area.
Very nice place to visit
If you ever get the chance this is a must see!! Not saying this just because my daughter is the Assistant Director but because its a beautiful place with amazing history and wonderful exhibits. A definite must see in Davenport!!!!
Thank you for the opportunity to explore your museum. So much to see and learn about early Davenport
Its a really great place to learn about German heritage. You dont have to be German to participate in there very enriching programs.Trips, classes, events all kind of events. The museum is self guided for touring. It costs $5 per person.Memberships are $35 dollars a month. Davenport was first settled by German immigrants. It is really neat to learn about history and culture. You should check it out.
Wonderful museum and a very nice craft show today.
First time visit learned a tremendous amount about German Heritage. Wonderful people and place is very well done. Will teturn for variuos exhibits.
This is such a warm and welcoming museum with great history of the area. It was an Immigrant hotel & has a sample room that immigrants would have slept in. I love the step into their shoes exhibit with stories of real immigrants.

Great local history and a wonderful gift shop
Lots of interesting facts about ancestors and why they came to America
Went with wife, son and German daughter in law. She loved it and we all learned things about Germany and Iowa.
We went on a Saturday walking tour and our guide was very informative and we could tell that he loved doing what he was doing. It was awesome to learn more about how German people helped shape how we see Davenport today and now everywhere we go my child shows us German architecture!

Love learning about the German influence on our local history.
I have not been inside yet but my Mother Marilyn Huber loved volunteering here. I could kick myself for not going on a tour to learn more about my German heritage history while she was alive. She loved it there and I know she would give it 5 stars.
Very interesting place, lots to see
A largely unknown yet cool museum about German immigrants to both the US and to the QC, here, locally. Fun traveling exhibits. A very cool gift shop with lots of unique gift ideas for that hard to shop for person.
Located in a restored, 1800s, former hotel., with ample off-street parking. Its located within blocks of the heart of downtown Dsvenport, riverfront parks, and the minor league baseball park. The museum has a gift store, a couple restored rooms from its days as a hotel, an extensive display of the history of German immigration to the Midwest and how it related to events happening in Germany, as well as artifacts and stories relating to immigrant life in Davenport from the early 1800s to the early 1900s.Currently there is a large display related to the WWI time period, and the suspicion and animosity towards Germans in the area. The State of Iowa even passed laws forbidding the use of the German language.A current, smaller display is of the magician Harry Houdini, and includes video clips of him performing, and artifacts such as some of the handcuffs he used in his performances. The building is handicap accessible, and has an elevator to the upper floors. The museum regularly puts on special programs, including music and holiday related themes.
Great place to eat especially Reubens...But all German food is good. Service was great!!
Loved our tour! Definitely a diamond find in the QC that more locals should know about and visit! Very impressive!
Worth visiting and made me more knowledgeable.... Appreciate the way they have tried to preserve their heritage....how the Germans came to this place and how they lived ...the hurdles they went thru ...the world war...etc etc...one must visit
Very nice museum. I had a great time learning to make saurkraut.
We came from Germany to visit the German American Heritage Center in Davenport, IA. We were surprised to be greeted by a fluent German speaking lady (Mrs. Hofmann). In the exhibition, sometimes a golden thread is missing, but all is educational and made with passion for detail. We enjoyed the stay, thanks alot!
Fun museum. Will be back
It was a good look into the German imagrant life on America. Also their contributions. It was very cold due to AC issues which vitbout stay short.
Being a third generation German, this museum really made me feel at home. Plus the history they have is astonishing.
I enjoyed attending the Pysanky (Ukrainian Easter egg) class that was held a couple weeks back.
Excellent..the history of WW 1 treatment of my German ancestors is terrible.. very educational.. worth a visit
