I also posted this on All Trails: So, overall great trail. It is relatively flat with gentle grades, scenic, and shaded (the shade was great). HOWEVER I would not recommend anyone to go alone and especially not to go after dusk. My partner and I went yesterday (Sun 05-24) and encountered some sketchy activity. There was an unmarked white van that had accessed the trail near the exit/entrance at Locust Dr. that was not affiliated with the City or county. The bollards protecting that exit/entry were destroyed. Anyway... the situation gave us the creeps because it left and came back multiple times to the same location... We have alerted City of Dallas and the PD but they still have not gotten back to us. Also, we found large bullets and syringes with needles still intact in the parking lot. LOL other than all of this, its nice for day time use, but please be vigilant when you go...

Great little hidden trail where you wouldn’t expect to find one. It’s a cool spot because the trees are taller and older, and looks and feels more like the more wooded areas of East Texas. I would recommend bringing mosquito spray, because water can tend to set in places, but i’ve seen turtles, snakes (non-venomous), and a lot of birds, so it’s a good way to get some fresh air for a couple hours.

Great trail for a walk, jog, bike, etc. through the trees and grasses of the Trinity forest. Even on a weekend it wasnt very crowded. Smooth flat pavement that has me excited to go back and try out my rollerblades there. Did not see any water/toilet facilities on the 4 or so miles I went on just as an FYI.

This is a pretty quiet and isolated trail. I enjoyed biking here. It is next to a dump, the muggy air might make it feel like the dump fumes cling to you but its not as bad as it sounds! Given there are so few people here, it can feel a bit shady when the sun sets so just be prepared.

Four stars for the potential that this place has. Needs an organized clean up effort. Or just wish visitors and fishers would pick up after themselves. There was enough trash to make my own pop can fishing tool

The park seemed pretty basic - just a parking lot with some open fields, water access, and woods with a few picnic tables. If you want to do something here, you need to bring it with you as there is no playground or much else aside from the paved trail, but it did seem pretty well kept.I came to run along the trail, and it was pretty good. It was nice to be running in the woods on concrete. The downside is that due to some previous rain the trail had some standing water in it as well as some mud in different places. The trail was also slippery, to the point that I thought I had put on the wrong pair of shoes, but just seems to be the pavement. Overall a good place to jog or bike, but I wouldnt recommend doing sprints or riding a road bike with skinny tires, at least after a recent rain.

Pros:1. Hardwood forest in Dallas City limits2. Generally well maintained paved trails (I bring my dog and ride my long board)3. Diverse “wilderness” landscapes close to downtown with wildlife and diverse trees and plants4. Never “busy”Cons:1. Because it is wild, there are copperheads occasionally on trails (as others have posted)2. There are likely criminal activities that occur in the parking lot on the regular3. I’ve been stuck in here when a train sits on the tracks and blocks the entrance / exit. (About 20 minutes, just an FYI)Tips:1. Put valuables in trunk2. Walk with a buddy (or a big dog)

The upkeep in a lot of the places were horrible! Assuming it was so because of what seemed to be a flood plaguing a lot of the sections, so there were tons of mud ran off over the trail and many sections. I took my segway out through the trails and had to detour out of the park because the running water over the trail was getting alittle too extreme. My segway only has about 7inches of ground clearance before its too deep and could pose a threat to the electronics. I wanted to enjoy this (and in some ways I did) but mother nature got the best of this visit.

Let me start by saying that this area is highly dangerous and unsafe for any civilized individual. Drug and prostitute infested area and the people seem not to care though the area is under construction new development. The park although is beautiful. Connect to downtown! Bike trail wide and clean with nature all around you. (Snakes, rodents, hawks wild flowers, ponds,) A must see! I do ride my bike frequently through the trails.

A nice place to see some turtles and herons among other birds. There are lizards and snakes too. Be mindful of fallen leaves along the path where copperheads like to hang out. Saw a big one on the path today and a bull snake as well. Joppa is nice but, if youre really looking to get away from concrete and noise go next door to the audoban society or over to the oak cliff preserve (or Cedar ridge and dogwood canyon). From my understanding, Joppa used to just be dirt roads and paths but the City has since paved them over with concrete which detracts from the appeal, personally. There also isnt a good spot to see the big lake to my knowledge.
