Wonderful campground. Its $14 a night but $7 with a national park pass. When you enter there is a board where you tear off a bit of the envelope (envelope with money goes in the box) and you put the slip on the board. Its well staffed here and they do rounds every night.Keep trash inside, I had a critter tear into my trash overnight.Beautiful beach, I saw someone having a fire and camping out on it. I will do that next time.Bathrooms and showers are great. Will come again.

This campsite is super close to the beach and incredibly beautiful. The amenities were pretty decent as well. Showers and bathrooms were well kept. The campground host was really helpful with instructions as well. 4 stars instead of 5 because there were fire ants all over our picnic table area that would not stop biting us and the grass is full of burrs which actually poked through the bottom of our tent floor and got into our dogs paws.

Overall very nice facility. they have spots for tent camping and for RVs. they have bathroom and showers. Be aware that there are a lot of mosquitoes and you need to have some type of netting to cover your car windows if youre sleeping in your car, so you dont have to leave the AC running. need to wear some type protective clothing or mosquito Nets. Mosquito spray.

Probably one of the best campgrounds Ive been to in terms of facilities. Other than the fact that it was raining because of a hurricane coming into the gulf, this place is beautiful. There are showers that have doors that can lock, a handicap accessible restroom for the elderly as well. Push system showers and restrooms with stalls that lock, have soap, and paper towels. Bugs may be a problem. The boardwalk was closed off, and you cant drive along the beach right now. Or camp because the storm outside in the gulf. Normally beach access to camp is $25. And campground access is $14. Depending on the time of day the rangers might give you a discount when you drive up. That I know of they accept cash. Its pet friendly. A VERY beautiful Beach. There are parking spots that are covered, picnic tables, and lighting when you walk around the showers at night.

Stayed here once with my family. It was a primitive campsite with access to bathrooms without hot water. If you deal with that then its one of the best beaches in Texas. Drive further down the beach for your own secluded piece of paradise.

We enjoyed our stay here. First time boon-docking and greatly enjoyed this clean site. Wish there was a seafood restaurant close by. Each area is paved with room for Campers via tent and RV.Plan accordingly! No hookups, but youre welcome to run your generator. (Not allowed to run generator 10pm to 6am). There is a water site to load up on water before you get to the campground. Walking distance from beach, nice deck with beautiful views. Each area comes with a picnic table. Restrooms and showers in walking distance.Visitors center in walking distance 1mile down from the camping site. Rangers are very nice and informative. Perfect time to visit, not crowded. Get fuel in Corpus. After Corpus, fuel prices go up and no fuel on Padre Island.

If you enjoy walking on an endless beach, playing in the surf and hearing the roar of the ocean at night - this place is great. This is a place for families and those who would like some peace and quiet. This is one of the cleanest beaches I have been to on the Gulf Coast.Camping is accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis.Bathrooms and showers on site - free, clean and very useable. Staff really nice.Easy access to town about 30 minutes.Well definitely be back.

We stayed here for two weeks in the end of March, beginning of April 2019 in spot #18. It is $14 per night unless you have a senior or Access (disability) National Park pass, then it is $7 per night. There is an entry fee to the park as well, but we have the annual park pass. Absolutely worth either price. You are right by the beach! No hookups, but they have fresh water and a dump before entering the campground. It is nice because there are two dumps and two fresh water stations. We planned to stay a night or two and then camp on the beach for free, but after seeing the crowds at the beach and the tide, we decided to stay here the whole time instead. I’m glad we did. The weather didn’t cooperate most days, but we had several days of gorgeous sun. It was constantly breezy which kept the bugs away but made it a bit too chilly for hanging out on the beach all day. The campground filled up most days but was quiet and relaxing. Everyone adhered to the quiet hours and was considerate. We have a solar setup and any site would be perfect for it. No trees to block the sun. Despite the cloudy days, we had no trouble with no generator backup. There is no cell reception at all with AT&T. None. However, we have a WeBoost cell booster and we were able to get enough for me to work remotely. There were a few times it crapped out, but for the most part it worked well, especially considering there was none without it. We arrived around 1pm and didn’t have any trouble finding a spot on the beach side. IMO, the beach side on the right (as you come in) is better. The spots are angled and when you open your door, you can see the beach and ocean easily. Here is the process for getting a spot. If you have arrived after check-out at noon, find an empty spot and claim it. There are occupied signs at campground host site (to the left of the registration area) or put out chairs or something to show it is occupied. You have one hour after claiming the site to pay. Since you have a spot claimed, you can go fill your tanks if necessary or just park your rig. Within an hour, go back and pay at the self-registration area. You will see the self-registration area immediately to the left when you arrive at the campground. It is cash or check, and they have an area you can write your credit card information if you want to do that. If you arrive before noon, you can pick an empty spot with no occupied sign or evidence it is occupied and follow the same process. You can also review the board to see if anyone in a spot is set to leave that day. The board is to the right of the self-registration area. It has slots for each camping site. The papers in the slots are filled out by campers as part of the registration process and it shows when they are leaving. I believe the camp host removes the papers in the morning for people who are leaving that day. If there is no paper in the slot, the site (in theory) is available once the person currently occupying it leaves. If you see a spot like that, I would recommend talking to the current occupants and confirming they are leaving that day. If they are leaving, I would recommend registering and paying for the site immediately. That will prevent other people from claiming it since your paper will show evidence the spot is taken. Then you can setup as soon as the other person leaves. The stay limit is 14 days. There are several access points to the beach, and you can be there in about 100 feet depending on site location. There are picnic tables at the campground and at the beach. There are showers, restrooms, and spigots for sand removal. Dogs are allowed at the campground and on the beach. As always, they must be leased and picked up after. Corpus Christi is about 45 minutes away so I would recommend bringing anything you may need with you, but in a pinch, you can go there for shopping. There are gas stations and a few stores on the island, but nothing close to the campground. Overall, we loved our stay and will definitely be back.

Fourhweel drive is recommended for the beach driving, I had an all wheel drive car on it and was able to get to mile marker ten to little shell beach, this is where they do the hatching for the sea turtles and if you call the visitors center they will let you volunteer to help the turtles get to the water safely, super pretty and once we got to mile marker ten we started seeing the turtles swimming in the water close to shore, it was an awesome experience!!!

The campground works off of an honor system in which you pay $14 and write your name, license plate # and etc. We paid for two nights and the day of the second night we had someone decide to sandwich their vehicle between our car and the cement table on our lot with our items on said table. Best of all their clothes and trash were on our table. I suppose paying the $14 allows for free reign for any and all non paying visitors to occupy your lot. No park rangers were available at the visitors center and the main building had one ranger whose advice was that we either find another lot (an unlikely situation given the lack of availability) or figure it out for ourselves. $20 to enter during park hours and $14 for the lot. If you park you better park diagonally but opposite of the lot otherwise Boone will be there to rectify your situation.Lots of ghost crabs on this beach which is pretty cool but they are more scared of you than you are of them. Plenty of schools of fish swimming and leaping out of the water which was cool. Not overly packed, clean and overall relaxing unlike other areas. You can also see the milky way galaxy at night so if you enjoy stargazing youll have a blast. Beach fires allowed but make sure you read the rules. Also please dont be like the morons next to us and burn ANY kind of wood. To the geniuses who felt like burning wood that they randomly found at another campsite.....LEARN YOUR TYPES OF WOOD. The wood you were using was not for burning in a fire pit, it was for smoking. Also SOME woods are chemically treated so that also poses a health risk. We were unable to close our eyes nor breathe without choking or having our eyes burn. You successfully smoked me, my lady, her sister and two kids out of our campsite. We were forced to sleep in our vehicles as there were no other areas for us to reposition our tent so we broke down our equipment and packed up at 1230am.My suggestion for the nation park staff is to perform more checks around the campsites, especially at later hours. If it means raising the price a little then so be it. Id return again but its looking like any problems we experience may have to be handled accordingly and obviously on our own. Hardly any cell signal out there so 911 is out of the question.BRING MOSQUITO SPRAY!!!!! We were eaten up badly and werent safe anywhere.

We had a great time camping on the beach. Showers/bathrooms are beach style, cement and no mirrors. Pack your shower shoes!Beach sites have a pergola and table. There is camping next to parking lot and then some crossing the dunes, right on the beach! We chose that. Parking was not assigned but we arrived early and had no trouble. The other campers were not as friendly as I’m accustomed to at campsites but not disruptive.

To get to the beach use the ramp next to the restrooms. You can fish here and even camp on the sand

Very nice, basic camping. But Beware!!!!! Its first come first serve and on top of this you must be quick.Steps.1. Look on Board for openings2. Ask if the person is going to leave3. Place you paper with info in slot4. Wait for the spot to become open watch it or you can lose it.5. Make sure no one places their stuff on it or its gone.Good Luck and Enjoy. To The Park: You need to redo your camping registration process, its unfair and wild people already gamble on having a spot just to have someone take it even though you put a request on the board. This did not happen to me but to a woman there. No good. Your Rangers allowed her to lose her spot because someone stole it, she paid and was next. I hope you fix this problem.

Very beautiful place, not expensive, well maintained, big rig friendly, no pull throughs or hook ups but has available fresh water and dump stations. No hot showers, yet- one sink in each bath room has hot water. Still trying to understand that reasoning but overall a remarkable place. The drive out to the park is breath taking on a clear day. If you dont like leaving your hand written credit card info in a locked box to be gathered and used responsibly at a later date; then bring cash to pay at the camp ground kiosk....which is separate from the park entrance fee and lastly, no cell service here except at the end of the beach access board walk just before you go onto the beach.Enjoy!
