There was a Vietnam theme during my visit that recalled what it was like for soldiers coming home when boards got shorter and hair got longer.John Milius films (Apocalypse Now and Big Wednesday) are present, but the best part was reading journal entries from soldiers who longed for a return to the waters. The adrenaline rush is best operated by the brain without the human suffering around us.

Not what I expected but filled with 60 and 70 memorabilia. Texan in Vietnam war especially. Decor funky and interesting. It is free and so is parking. Donations accepted

Fun and free little collection of surf history thats mildly interesting and friendly!

Cool free museum takes donations to stay open. Learned some really neat facts about surfing. Very reasonably priced souvenirs much cheaper than the regular souvenir shops.

Before dining at Water Street Oyster Bar drop in for a look around at this quaint little museum right next door. Admission is free!The close at 7:00 pm so you probably to see this before dining. The staff seems really dedicated.Check it out.

Great history. Their Vietnam history at surfing was great really enjoyed the imagery in the history that they displayed.

Absolutely love this place. So much information and some of the best exhibits

Easy to find. Hard to get into. The entrance is not the street front but by the parking lot in the back. But has awesome stuff. Lots of history. Totally free. Its small but lots to read lol. Staff totally friendly. And even the dog! It is surrounded by restaurants and little shops so there is other stuff to do once your out.

Wonderful place. Great to learn about some of the activities that they did for stress relief during war times.

A free admission museum. The museum was quiet and not busy. Adjacent to the museum a small water fountain can be found with small tile stars surrounding the floor around the fountain that are dedicated to different artists. Cute and quiet place.

The surf museum outer surfers daughters are pass just a great place to go to see always changes i surf Corpus Christi since 1964 this picture was taken in 1978 in Costa Ricaif I hadnt served here in Corpus Christi I would have never been able to surf that wave so thank you for Corpus Christi I think you surf museum for sharing it with us

This place made me wish I knew how to surf and that I was 25 again! It was really cool! Bought a shirt and going to go back and buy another one! Gavin helped me along with his dog Hennessey! They both rocked!

Fun museum and great way to support our Vietnam Vets.

Very cool people and although the museum is small, it is worth leaving a small donation to enjoy viewing old surfing boards and learning a bit about surfing in the meanwhile

Took our entire family to see this unique museum. They were displaying the surfers in the Vietnam War. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and the store has great merchandise for purchase. Will definitely return when we visit the area again.

A very interesting and different look at at an event that effected so many. Worth the time.

We all enjoyed the Surf museum. I enjoyed seeing the display of all the old beer cans. Lot of them I can remember.

This is a great place to learn about the Surfing Culture in the Coastal Bend and the part it played in history. No charge.

Nice cars

It was very fun and original, but there wasnt much to look at and the majority of it was education on pollution. It was a more vintage type place and wasnt the best use of time on this 2-Day trip. If you want to see some Surfboards, rent them and take them down to the beach. Dont suck the fun out of it with a museum.

Not very big, but its free, they were very nice even though my toddler was being a handful, and had some interesting things!

Interested info on surfing on China Beach. A little hard to find, a hidden treasure, not really for kids.

So much history of the Vietnam War. My wife found the dog tag of my mothers cousin. And took a photo of it to send home.

Nice history

The place is a little hard to find because it isnt right on the street. It is behind the Oyster Bar on Waters Street. On the corner of Waters and Lawrence. The people are really nice. Took about an hour to view and read the exhibits. No charge but they do take donations.

Was surprised to see this in Texas, being from southern California I was really impressed with the history they had on the boards. Loved the photo booth in the back!

Always a great eatery and watering hole

The employee was super nice and helpful. Its kinda small and mostly consists of surfboards, but its a fun little place. Its hard to spot, but is behind the oyster bar.

Great place also the museum next door has a lot of history. Both places great place to hang out with the family and your family pet!

This is a neat little place along the sea wall /downtown area of Corpus Christi.We went on a Monday around lunch time. Admission is free but donations are welcome. Mostly on display were the many surf boards loaned to them by various surf legends. You could read about the board shapers and some of the history about how surfing got stated in the area. There were also a lot of pictures and news articles to see.My kids really like playing with the manual wave machine that showed them how surf worked. They also had a short VR exhibit (iPhone in a headset) where you stood on a board and got to see surfing in first person view. They liked it so much we eventually had to start breaking up arguments about whose turn it was. Kids, heh.You can be in and out in less than an hour. The staff was very friendly. The museum and bathrooms were very clean. There were lots of tshirts and merch to grab as well.It was a nice way to spend a little time. If you’re in the area, do stop in. There a several restaurants around for before or after your visit and Rebel Toad Brewing Co. is right down the street if you’re thirsty (Thu-Sat).

South Texas and surf, tall and midget, fast and skinny, etc. Even though the gulf is not known for its surf opportunities the museum is awesome because it chronicles the Rise of surfing and how it affected those in the area. They have an awesome collection of boards and photos, the only problem is there isnt enough, it takes maybe 30 minutes to read and sewer everything...

Free, well-done small museum. My son loved the model where he could make waves.

Such a great musuem! There is so much to learn about surfing! The gift shop in the front was also really cool!

A fun little museum with free entry, neat displays about the history of surfing, some video displays and a shop with CDs, cool flip flops and other things. The employee there was nice too.
