The park is big and beautiful. We didn’t get to enjoy very much of it, it rained just about the whole time we were there. It has a 150 acre lake. Great for fishing and kayaking. Lot of hiking and biking trails. Horse trails as well. Lots of wild geese and some ducks. The sites are big with slabs fairly level, Bar B Q pit, fire pit and picnics tables. Big play ground for the kids, soft ball field, disc golf, marina. Restrooms and showers were closed due to corona. We were on a premium site. Water all around us. We plan on going back one day. The staff were friendly and helpful. Park is very well kept.

We had rented Cabins 3a & 3b for an annual weekend with lifelong friends from Tennessee and a great Cabin with a view it was. The negatives were, on our 1st night the smoke alarm in our Bedroom Chirped all night long due to a weak battery and the ceiling was to high for me to remove the battery. 2nd the screened in back porch was entirely too small. 3rd they really should have leveled off a small area behind the cabin for the Firepit and Pic-Nic Table. These cabins were spacious, clean, had enough kitchen cookware, dishes, and cutlery to accommodate most people who would be staying there. Cabin 3a has an Ice Maker while Cabin 3b had ice trays.The fact that the cabins are on the area of the lake where skiing is not allowed is also a BIG Plus!If you are just wanting a quite weekend getaway with a great view, then a Cabin at Lake Lowndes is for you. If you want a larger porch/ deck then Cabins 1 a/b & 2 a/b would be my suggestions, with 1a being my 1st choice as it is the most private being at the very end of the dead end driveway. I know when we return that we will do our best to get 1 a/b.

Very quiet park, which I enjoy. Easy access to restrooms, fishing, & kayak launch. Park staff is always friendly and informative. Great indoor basketball court, information desk, drink machines, and meeting room. We love kayaking here!

No swimming online said there was. Frisbee golf course looked nice. Primitive camp sights nice and clean.

Trip to visit family. Clean park, lots of trails, playground, baseball and football fields, indoor basketball court, they have badminton and tennis court, ping pong table, pool tables, meeting rooms, pavilion, marina, and fishing pier. Overall great place. Would come back if in the area for extended stay again. P.s. went during end of May and surprised at the lack of misquotes.

What a great spot to camp and fish. The lake view is gorgeous. One of the best in Mississippi.

Great camping spot. Fishing hiking and more. Clean and well kept. Lake side spots have wonderful views. The only critisms I have and they are minor, are the playground equipment is dated and worn but still clean and functional, there is little room to park your row vehicle, and there is a need of a more convenient way to sign in with a camper in tow. I will be camping here again.

Nice peaceful atmosphere

This park has a great atmosphere, the sites have reasonable spacing and good services. The trees make for a great shade canopy and the needles are a nice soft ground cover. My family watched a Bald Eagle circle over and catch a fish from the little bay next to our site, indicating wildlife is present and active.

Beautiful lake, nice shady and spacious lots

Five years in Columbus and never knew about Lake Lowndes. So loaded up the family truckster (you think you hate it now, waitll you drive her). Loaded down the cooler with hotdogs and whatnot and aday tripping we went. Mr Park Ranger at the gate was nice enough. Took my four dollars for per vehicle charge and soon enough I found an ideal location to picnic. I fired up the grill while while the small boys played in the playground and the big boys fished the lake. Both were close enough to hear me hollering when they acting like they lost their senses. I didnt yell though cause theres enough room for them to run play and be kids. It was well shaded. Sister threw her chair in the shade and we laughed and laughed. Man, what a place to be. Im asking for a tent for Christmas and getting the kids to tell Santa they want kayaks. Im already planning next summer.

Nice disc golf course but didnt get to finish playing because the park ranger stopped is for not having the dog on the leash in the woods, so we were leaving, but the park ranger followed us going creepy laps in his truck. We were the only people in the park and he kept trying to make conversation while we were walking in the rain... 2/12/20@1700 park is great, the help made us very uncomfortable.

Lake lowndes is a very peaceful and quiet location in Columbus, Mississippi. The park benches close to the lake offer a front row seat to majestic views within a 10 minute drive from the city limits.

Beautiful place! Awesome campground! The fishing on the other hand is quite pitiful. No structure for baitfish to thrive. Therefore little game fish present.

Had a wonderful time. Trails were cleared and great!

Me and my family love coming here to camp. They have great places to setup tent and trails to walk on. We go kayaking on the lake and the kids love it. The kids learn about nature while having fun.

Nice. Good sized lake (large enough for skiing). Ball fields, playgrounds, picnic area with tables & grills. Areas for campers and primitive camping spots.Really only downside I could see was more bathrooms needed, but the ones I went in were nicely maintained.

Super little park. Park has camping, day use, and a 150 acre lake for fishing. Park rangers are very courteous. If youre looking for a small, quiet place to camp or fish, then give Lake Lowndes a try.

Beautiful park. Love the disc golf courses on site. Could use a little brush clean up and maintenance with some funds from the park entry fee, but overall, still a great course. Nothing warranting less than the full 5 stars.

We love the camp ground at lake lowndes. The spots are spread out, and cleaned out. We can watch the grandkids play from any spot.

Love coming out here to do some bank fishing for bass. Typically can get some quality alone time in nature with few people interrupting.

Beautiful park, well maintained and reasonable for a rare full hook up State Park. The location is a bit isolated for the wanderer. Overall a very peaceful and pleasant experience.

Went to a campsite with a fire pit. Was not allowed to start a fire, set up hammocks, and was promptly asked to leave the establishment. No signs that explains the premises of the park. Beautiful park however with a nice lake. If you enjoy walking a lake trail this lake will be too big however.

Great place to get your staycation on. The bass is temperamental, but there out there. Campgrounds stay nice and clean, ants can be a issue, be prepared on the day of arrival. Overall a great place to camp.

A little out of the way, but a nice park. The cabin was nice and clean. We stayed in a handicap accessible cabin and it had a very nice bathroom for my grandparents, with a walk in shower. Only complaint- we had no bathroom amenities (soap, shampoo, trash bags, etc) and only one roll of toilet paper! But we loved the easy access and beautiful views from the screened in porch. Would come back again if in the area.

We love this park because its so close to our house, but there are very few bathrooms, and the bathrooms that are close are normally locked or extremely filthy. I have little kids so I have prepared a to go potty in the back of my car, so that allows us to play all day. So unless you are camping or willing to hold it in, limit your park time to about 2 hours, otherwise you gotta find a tree.

This is a very remarkable place. There are many fun activities that you can do. It has a very nice area for reunions,frisbee golf course,fishing and other desires. The atmosphere is very pleasant. Id recommend going there for enjoyment...

We have camped at Lowndes many times. The lots are large, the lake is beautiful and the maintenance of the entire park is absolutely spectacular!! Love hiking, boating, kyaking, tennis, firepits, cooking. Our Ranger guy checks on us and couldnt be more hospitable. Its the perfect gettaway!!

This is a really nice park and is usually pretty quiet. It has a playground for younger children, plenty of camping sites including two cabins that can be rented, sports areas, fishing, and hiking/equestrian trails.The hiking trails leave a bit to be desired since accessing them isnt very clearly marked and how to access the various trails on the other side of the lake is still a mystery to me. They do have a frisbee golf course if thats your sort of thing.The day use fee is $4.00, which seems a bit high in my opinion and depending on what youre there for.Overall, I like it the best compared to the other parks in the Columbus area.

We have camped here several years. It is close to home, very clean, and all sites are sewer sites. I enjoy the geese who come to visit

We liked walking this park. They have a nice play ground for the kids, camping both RV and primative (tent). Rather large lake to walk around. We didnt as it was only an exploration day. They have horse trails as well. I do want to note that you have to pay to get in. I think because it is off season its working know the honor system. Which means, we have a camera on your car, dont pay and we will fine your tags. Im sure someone would be in the booth during peak season, presumably in summer months.

Nice place to stay. Clean and well maintained. Several good views of the lake available. Indoor and outdoor basketball courts, playground, volleyball nets, hiking trails, bike riding, boating, etc available. The only negative we had was dealing with a lot of ants. They were on the trees, the ground, everywhere. Recommend bring ant spray and treat any area where you plan on setting up tables or chairs. No pool available and no wading in lake but good for canoes, kayak, paddleboats, skiing, and tubing.

Enjoyed a nephews baseball game. A bit muddy, therefore bleachers were pushed too close to game fence.

Guess State Funding has been reduced so its kinda of not as kept up as it used to be. Nonetheless, its much nicer than any other park in Columbus imo..... Enjoy it there.

The tennis courts are an absolute disgrace. The nets have holes in them. The lights doesnt work and grass is growing out of the courts.

We were looking for a hotel to stay at the night of my cousins graduation (from Mississippi state) and they were all booked up (about a month before the graduation!) So i thought Id see if there were any parks with available cabins. Thankfully we found this and we were pleased with the price !We caught a few fish from the the pier and the bank :) Really nice lakeside cabin with a beautiful view and a pier out back!The park also has a playground with two different jungle gyms w/slides, swing set etc. kids had a blast rolling down the hill and playing camping bingo behind the cabin. All in all a graduation turned into a great three day vacation!

A good place for a wide variety of recreation options. The facilities need updating as does the tennis courts and the disc golf course. Map on course was not legible and the signs at each hole were very weathered and difficult to read. The fishing dock was newly built though.
