Amazing experience. COVD restrictions in place (must wear masks in building). Restaurants are opened. Loved seeing the animals again. The zip line was great as well. You ride up, get off, look around the top of the zoo, get back on and go down. There are animals viewable from the zip line once you are in the air.Tennis shoes are best as sons of the walk is uphill.

This zoo is spectacular! The setting is beautiful and relaxing, you feel like youre in the mountains. The animal set ups are so natural and large. You get an opportunity to see so many animals up close and interact with them, most at no extra charge. Really a great experience all around. Best zoo in Colorado for sure!

Fun place for kids and adults. Interactive attractions where you can feed the animals. The cost for the food is up there so be prepared to bring at least $10 minimum if you have a kid that would love to engage in this type of activity. Also costs extra to ride their lift “sky ride”. Be prepared to do a good amount of walking. If you’re from out of state please be aware of the elevation difference throughout the zoo. I do believe they offer a ride for people who may need it (probably costs more money ) overall a fun experience!

Loved our visit here! Wow is there a bunch of uphill walking so bring a water and a good attitude. I loved how close you can get to seeing some of the animals and how friendly everyone is. I was even impressed that the food was better than most parks offer. I wish there were more park maps posted around the park since during COVID times there was no paper maps. Great visit and a must when visiting Colorado Springs.

Great zoo, lots of animals and opportunities to interact closely with them. The skyride is amazing to soak in the view of the city and see the zoo from above. My kids are 12. 9 and 9 months old and all love it. We love that there are restaurants and cafes available, but you are also able to bring in food and drink to enjoy a picnic. Lots of places and tables to rest and have snacks, and overall great place to spend the day

We have been to multiple zoos throughout the US and this was hands down our families favorite! Its built into the side of a mountain that makes it unique but the fun doesnt stop there! Some of the exhibit areas have animals freely roaming amongst the grounds AND you can feed the giraffes! Oh and did I mention that there is a sky ride/chair lift that gives your legs a break and opportunity to get a birds eye view of the zoo and the surrounding city?! My kids are still talking about all the fun they had. We will definitely be back

The best part of this zoo has to be the sky ride and being able to feed the giraffes. The feeds are $5 for 2 feedings. The giraffes are very aware that you’re there to feed them and they’ll stick their whole tongue out for you. The sky ride provides a nice view. It’s weird how you have to get off only to get back on but that was okay. The only part I don’t like about the zoo is that every area is so small for the animals and they seem very sad.

One of our favorite zoos we’ve ever visited! The views alone are spectacular. We went 2 hours before closing(secure a time slot ahead of time) we watched the storms in the distance and we were lucky it didn’t come our way! 2 hours was definitely a sufficient amount of time to see all the animals. It wasn’t busy at the time we went. We got to feed($5) the giraffes and interact with them. All the animals were pretty lively. Walking through the wallaby section was a surprise, they pretty much kept to themselves, but it was cool to see them up close! The ice cream($5.99) popcorn($5?) and pretzel($6?) were a good snack! They have 2-3 spots to grab real food at top with great views.Don’t skip out on this activity to do with the family if you’re in Colorado Springs!

Always a great experience - whether you try to see it all, or you just choose to focus on one exhibit/region. Their Boo at the Zoo events, along with Electric Safari and adult date nights give some variety for zoo visitors.Surprisingly, this zoo is not supported by taxpayer money, but through donations and business profits from the day-to-day operation. Im afraid the recent attempts to upgrade facilities reflect the careful cost considerations, and sometimes result in smaller scale projects than originally hoped. For example, the new penguin and hippopotamus display is open and it is not what I expected. We are so happy for their return, but the penguins are in such a small area with a smaller view that the exhibit has built in markers outside the building and down the walk for the inevitable lines to get in to the building to see them. I can appreciate that we want to see them, but they may not wish to be seen, but there is nothing advising people to that hiding places are intentional so they will leave them alone and move on either. If you plan to visit, wear good shoes or buy a trolley pass, bring water, sunscreen and a jacket, and make a day of it. The Sky Ride costs extra, but its an excellent way to relax and see the zoo and city from the air. For animal safety: no straws allowed, no outside food allowed. When you visit be kind to the creatures the zoo is working to help protect and conserve. And make sure others are too - its never too early for children to learn kindness and respect!

First time here. I never thought a zoo could actually exist on the steep terrain just minutes west from Colorado Springs. It literally sits in the foothills. They have a great amount of wildlife. The animals really seem to be well taken care of. After talking with a staff member in charge of the elephants, CMZ has REALLY comes far in attaining a high degree of recognition among zoos. They are a bit pricey, especially with consessions inside but it is a good time. Recommended.

I will rate this on the experience of the park. One note in general is that families were not all wearing their masks in the park, but with the mandate not being mandatory that is their choice. Our family loves wildlife. We have lived in Colorado for 3.5 years and this was our 1st time at the zoo. It is a true zoo that sits in the mountainside. You have an option to use a ski lift of sorts to go up and down the mountain, definitely dont recommend if you are afraid of heights. The food options were plentiful. Options of healthy and fun foods. Great experiences you can pay a low price for including feeding an elephant, which is my sons favorite animal and feeding my favorite, giraffes. They get up close and personal. We spent the day here and it was delightful! Its so different from other zoos. The location is beautiful (although windy and cool) and there is a wide variety of animals in beautiful enclosures. Lots of opportunities to interact with the animals! My only thing was the golf cart shuttle. We purchased 2 passes (only $2 each, but gave the driver a $5) as we were told there was lots of uphill walking. Yes, there was, but we really didnt see the shuttle much, so we ended up walking the whole zoo, as we would either miss an area if we rode, or waste time waiting on the ride. I think we rode 1 time. So we really didnt use the pass much, but even at that, I feel like I was supporting the Zoo, which is a very good thing. We packed a light lunch and ate there in the park. It was a great day!

DURING COVID MAKE RESERVATIONS, THEY WERE SOLD OUT! We were going to take a spontaneous trip, on Sunday, Labor Day Weekend, and thankfully my bf checked the website, and our 3:40 time slot sold out as he was purchasing, so we had to choose an earlier slot... hindsight 20/20, we lucked out because we would have missed half the park, half the experiences and memories ifwe had gone later! We arrived for our 1:40 time slot, and left at closing time: 5pm.Mist-fans, sanitation stations, water bottle fillers at each water fountain, and bathrooms conveniently located throughout the park. Highly recommend bringing a camelback from home for ice water, or atleast a water bottle to refill. This was the BEST Zoo experience weve ever had!Thats saying something... Ive been to San Diego Zoo, Philadelphia Zoo, Omaha Zoo, several drive thru zoos (ie: Bear Country in South Dakota, Six Flags Safaris, etc), and while many of those are much larger, this place takes the cake!Riding the Sky Lift, first, was a good idea, because later in the day we were so consumed with animal viewing, that we didnt make it back to the entrance area till we were leaving the park. The cost is $4 per person, at the gate, for unlimited rides. We got to pet an uncaged wallaby (with which there were about half a dozen roaming around) and the giraffes. Recommend bringing cash if you plan to feed animals like the giraffes, elephants, parrots, and whatever else might be feed-able by patrons. Also, giraffe petting / feeding enclosure had a max of 8 patrons, so expect a line and get there early enough. We almost missed out because there was 12 minutes before closing time, and they warn that theyll take as many as they can, but will NOT be able to get the whole line. So if its important to you, prioritize! The animals are in great health, not lethargic, and seem very happy! We were there around feeding time (which was around 4pm), so they were very active! We managed to catch video of the tiger prowl, and nearly pounce at a Zoo Keeper that was on the other side of the fence with her arms out-spread like she would have caught it in a hug, before the tiger started stroping against the fence, chuffing happily as he nuzzled the palms of her hands thru the fence. We got video of a Zoo Keeper patiently teaching the Barn Owl how to crate-train for vet visits, and allowing to learn only if he wants to.We have video of otters doing back flips where the waterfall in their enclosure splashes down. This is all just to point out how active and happy the animals seem to be in their beautiful enclosures (most having interior and exterior viewing areas, or atleast their own hideaways from the heat). Very well-maintained grounds and animals by caring, jovial staff. Very positive and memorable trip. Cant wait till we have a child, to experience it again, thru their eyes. :)

Beautiful place and beautiful enclosures but NOT COVID safe! Employees wear masks but I’d say at Least half of the patrons did not wear masks. It also seemed crowded and people were not following social distancing guidance. It was actually shocking compared to the measures put in place at the Denver zoo..And shocking to see so many anti maskers. We felt so uncomfortable we left. They could easily make things safer for all, especially their employees by mask mandate and having guests following a one way route as much as possible. Putt signs up that say “high touch surface” would remind people not to touch everything. License plates in the lot are from all over, meaning any transmission at zoo will likely spread to a lot of other communities.

Such an amazing zoo! You can see almost every single animal up close and its in a breathtakingly beautiful location. Absolutely gorgeous. The animal enclosures are all spacious and the animals are well taken care of.Single favorite part: feeding the giraffes. I made friends with a huge giraffe today and it was amazing. Do not miss!

Cheyenne Mtn Zoo is in a beautiful mountain location that our family has enjoyed for several years. New and improved exhibits like the recently opened Africa exhibit continue to make each visit unique. The authentic care of animals in habitat inspires our own kiddos to love and care for animal friends. Expect a bit of a workout as the hillside location offers hilly walks between exhibits. Low cost shuttles are frequently available for those who prefer or require a ride, instead.

Honestly, one of the best zoos weve ever been to! Lots to see, we especially enjoyed feeding animals and various encounters. Very well planned layout. Some food places are open throughout the park. Keep in mind that now timed entry tickets are required due to the covid situation.

Great zoo that you can explore in a day and not feel like you missed anything. The giraffe feeding at the entrance is a must, and all the exhibits are well kept and get you close to the animals. The skyline was fun and worth the ride for the view alone, but there wasnt a lot to do at the end other than a climbing area. I think a lot of it was closed due to the weather that day.We had lunch at Pizza with a View and though seating was limited due to covid, the food was better than your run of the mill frozen pizzas you would get at other tourist destinations.

Unique setting, but not worth the $25 cost of admission. The Rio Grande Zoo in Albuquerque, NM is only $8. Some of the exibits are easy to miss since they dont give out maps. Awesome views of the city at points. The chairlift ride is nice, but you have to get off at the top, then get back in line to return. Also, the employee at the top was not wiping down the chairlifts like the employee at the bottom.

Cheyenne mountain zoo is a lovely small zoo tucked into the hills of Colorado Springs. Theres a surprising amount of interaction between visitors and the animals there (giraffes, wallabys, birds etc) and most of the exhibits are great. There are a few places that feel a bit run down but it seems like they are working to update as they can. There are paths crisscrossing the zoo with great views of the springs, and theres a good amount of dining options. Its not the biggest zoo but still a great experience.

Fabulous animals kept in clean livable enclosures. Some were small. Snow Leopard is breathtaking and endangered.

This zoo is amazing! And Ive been to a few! We loved the layout, although it is up a incline, it winds up enough that it doesnt feel as hard on your feet. And there are lots of little secrets and fun things to look at and interact with that is not an animal. The animals are actually very interactive and engaging and not just hiding up in the corner somewhere. I think it being on a mountain helps them feel more in nature than of they were placed in a cement man-made zoo. Lots of fun and would highly recommend to others! Make sure you bring water and sun screen!

Such an amazing and beautiful park!!! Lots of zoo animals and it’s a rather large park!! It’s a bit difficult to walk. It’s up and down the mountains and you really need to stay hydrated. Food and drinks are a bit expensive but it’s to be expected. the only thing i would say is i felt bad for some of the animals, they looked sad And some of the closures were really small. All in all though, i would definitely come back.
