Very nice area. Good trails and great views. Something for everybody. Easy trails an some more challenging. Easy access and decent parking porta potties . Wide trails for strollers and family homes
This IS a challenging hike if youre gonna try for the peak. Not for beginner hikers or the inexperienced. Very steep going up near the top and loose rocks. Bring lots of water, shoes/boots with good grip, and maybe some poles to help you along. Many trails to follow going up and down. Beware, its about a 2k + elevation gain and you climb fairly rapidly.
Has many trails to choose from! It is an uphill climb right from the start, but depending on your physical fitness, it can range from challenging to easy. Great views of Colorado Springs and typically friendly hikers/runners along the way. Have not seen any cyclists but many pet owners and families with smaller children.
Great for hiking during the day and excellent for watching meteor showers or star gazing at night. Quiet place in a great area.
Nice place to get out a little. Its not that big, but there are some really amazing views of the city and mountains with access through the area to Forest Service land. Great place for a short hike or steep bike ride. Wish the parking area was a little more accommodating, and wish some people would be more courteous with their dogs.
Great if youre looking for a mountain hike without the drive into the mountains. Dont be a pig and leave trash though. Help keep it beautiful.
Love this place. There are many trails you can take and go off and explore different portions of the mountains.
One of my favorite places to hike near home. Take a casual stroll up the main walking path road, or go for an adventure on one of the MANY trails off and up. The hike to the top of Blodgett peak is challenging, but worth it!
Wonderful area for a pretty high level hike, if youre looking to summit. Watch for the path to divert and run into a boulder field - its doable, but much more difficult than the actual path, and doubling back takes time. No idea where the trail splits though, so... Heads up, I guess? Anyway, not a really difficult summit, but it aint no slouch. Have plenty of water, as the elevation increase to distance ratio is greater than the incline!
Its a beautiful place to walk around and take pictures!
This was my first time walking through Blodgett Park. And I thought it was pretty cool. Pretty and quiet. I had a real good time. Then I tried to hike up Blodgett Peak. Man, I dont mean to complain, but Blodgett Peaks trail needs alot of work. It does looks good on the map though at the beginning of Blodgett Park. But if you look closely at the map (which I didnt) it says in small print Not a designated trail. And they mean it! Rough, rough, rough! Single track trail, bushes scratching my legs and arms. I tried to follow the pink ribbons up the non visible trail, till I just saw big boulders. I just quit and turned around. I just ran into one person who did it. He mustve done it before. Everyone else I talked to about it, during my walk and days after, quit also. Colorado Springs thank you for all the great parks! And Colorado Springs trail workers and volunteers thank you for making the parks even more enjoyable. But please heed my review, and give Blodgett Park Peak Trail another look. Its probably been a minute. All the other trails are great! But, even on the map it says Not a designated trail. Even though its marked as such. Again, thank you all for our parks and trails. Hopefully, maybe, you all can helicopter in some supplies and workers, volunteers. And give this trail from the peak down a much needed and appreciated makeover. Thank you. & Daniel.
Nice trails, most of them pretty shady. Going up higher on the mountain some of the trails get steep fast. Those trails are not the best for elderly or small kids walking. Very easy to slide. Great for more intermediate to advanced level hikers. All the rest of the lower trails are great for anyone. Nice place, have been probably a dozen times..
Popular area with a beautiful short hike. Main Blodgett trail is wide open, doubles as access road to a water tank. Other trails have seen some work put in with rock stairs on the steep parts. Any shady parts in winter will be ice, but stay frozen so mud is not bad. Decent amount of parking in lot and the southbound side of the road, but spots will fill fast. Porta potty and trashcan at gate.
This place is beautiful. Right on the edge of town and it feels like your deep in the mountains.
Beautiful location to take a short or long hike or just sit in the parking lot, have a chat and enjoy the view.
Absolutely gorgeous I would say it can fit everybodys comfort zone. Many different levels of views the top is mind-blowing
Good place to visit, take a hike or walk your dog(s).
Honestly one of the best in this town. Please do your research before hiking any trails here. I feel like the poor reviews of this trail are unjustified and avoidable with proper research before you head up.
Great little local hiking area with lots of areas to explore
Great trails in a wooded setting.
Nice trails on the lower parts. A few are slippery especially as you go up in elevation.
This hike was just ok. Fire road leads up to the trail in the picture. There are a network of trail you can take up or down as well. Theyre pretty, and not very challenging or technical. But also not very impressive. Its best as a neighborhood trail for biking or trail running, not necessarily worth making a trip for. There is an unofficial trail that leads to the summit - we did not do that trail, which, apparently, is dangerous.
This open space is perfect if you have a family with kids and doggies. Theres many trails but the main one is wide enough to have your dogs with you. I came on a Sunday at noon and the parking lot (which isnt that big) was filled up but theres plenty of parking on the street. They have poles with poopy bags all over the park so thats a plus in case dog owners forget their bags. Theres also a porta potty in the entrance. In this park youre surrounded by woodsy areas but also with an amazing view of the city. If youre an outdoors person I definitely recommend this park for you to check out!
Great hike. Trail is tough to follow if you leave the open space. Views from the peak are worth the climb.
Trails have been more clearly marked. Very clean. Great view. Good variety of trail difficulty.
My first ever hike. Ever. My buddy and I made it to the top in about 1:40. It was definitely worth the work. Not a standard, easy walk stroll in the park type climb. Definitely need good shoes!
Beautiful views looking out over Colorado Springs from this trail. The trail winds up the mountain and into parts of the burn scar from the Waldo Canyon Fire, where you can see the new growth sprouting up. Very well maintained parking lot and a clean porta potty at the beginning of the trail.
Not sure about the trails but we follow people that use the wash out ways and it was hard, really slippery and not good for young kids.
The hike to the top is pretty steep, give yourself plenty of time. However, the views from up there are fantastic!
Its easy to get off trail, but it was still a blast to climb to the peak! We found the actual trail on the way down and it goes most of the way up. Beautiful view, and worth the half day hike.
This was a very fun place to visit with the family if your in good shape. It is very hardcore, but the veil makes it worth it! I defiantly recommend this place for a fun 6 hours
My favorite place to hike! Trails are well marked! Parking lot is small but there’s plenty of street parking. Plan on lots of uphill! Beautiful views of the city below
Beautiful views, tons of trails
Very nice place to hang out and get a great view of the city.
Blodgett peak trail does not go to the top. There is another one... I think hummingbird that goes up! Make sure you study the map before you go. We didnt
Most challenging hike
Great hike.
Beautiful view and great place to make out. Watch for cameras though.
Great trails to hike
First timer today.I cant wait to go back & explore more of this wonderful space!
There a nice open space lots of room to run around for friendly dog place to let your dog play as well
Very good trails with small streams and some switchbacks awesome for the doggos to go to!
I love living right next to such a diverse open space. Trails can go through forests, red rock formations, along streams or rivers, and through the burned out Waldo Canyon Fire remains (which is beautiful in its own unique way). For the brave and fit, you can attempt to reach the peak of Blodgett, but there is very little defined trail and its extremely steep and covered in scrabble. Ive done it twice, but its a crazy ascent and almost a slip n slide of a descent.
Perfect for picnic dates
Beautiful trails
Excellent place for a hike!
I love the trail up to the peak. My favorite hike!
One of my favorite places to run and hike. Im so happy to see the new mitigation. Wise, considering the past.
One of our most favorite places to hike
Beautiful hiking. Going up the trail to the peak was a bit hard but worth it.
Love this place - nice trails, good photo opportunities year-round, and the Blodgett peak hike is a good one. However, city officials have for some reason decided recently to start cutting down hundreds of trees in the trails - it makes everything look worse and Im concerned that the soil may begin to wash out this spring.
Nice, well maintained trails. Not overly crowded.
More of a climb than a hike sometimes but AMZING views. Trails are not well marked sometimes.
Very nice pleanty of off branching trails so if you want to take a more secluded path you can and its on its on ed edge of the national forest so if you want to you can go on a massive hike into the mountains you can or just take a small loop less than a mile. And the scenery is some of the best you can get without driving hours out of the city.
So Pretty!
An awesome park with access to the national forests. Plenty of trails, and it even allows dogs. The parking is a bit limited, but rarely fills up and if it does, you can park along the road.Note that the trails do ice up during the winter.
It was very beautiful, but the hardest hike Ive ever done. Very steep.
The begging is a nice wide gravel road, but it gets really nice once you leave the road on the hummingbird trail
Blodgett has some great hikes and views, but look out for the local wildlife; bigfoot was sighted recently!
Nice open space. With many official loop trails. Some come with quite an incline; however, there are a few that I would consider easy. Please keep in mind that some of the open space trails connect directly with the National Park trails and can become very difficult to navigate.
Nice incline trail. There is no designated path to the peak so pick route when you get up the scree rock and rock outcropping where you can see the whole city.
It was so pretty
Best hiking trail in the springs. Easy side for when friends and family are in town and a harder side to get some good hiking in.
A good combination of gentle sloping trails to real challenges for those interested in claiming the true Blodgett peak.
Pretty easy trails to walk and enjoy.
Dont go. It sucks. (No I just want it all for me!). Beautiful space, excellent hike, but strenuous
It is a great place to bring your dogs for some nice hike. The views from the top of the hill are not the greatest in town, but it is nice. The hiking trails are well traveled and easy to trek. Just be sure to get there early. The parking lot is small, and it fills up quickly. I would suggest getting there by 8am, otherwise you may only find parking along the road down the hill.
Wonderful easy to get to hike
Very nice trail (wide and well groomed) With an easy grade to walk up. With FANTASTIC views of Colorado Springs and the Air Force Academy as well.
Nice hike with great views. Only gave three stars because there is very poor signage and it is quite easy to get lost. Lots of people with dogs unleashed, no problems with any of them but I can see how much of a problem this is here. The trail is steep and I busted my butt on the way down, definitely wear some traction to help with the descent.
Amazing hiking right in our backyard! Tons of trails, everything from the pretty pedestrian to some that are very challenging. My only complaint is that parking at the trailhead is extremely limited, but there is ample parking space out on the street.
Love the veiws!! Moderate trails, lots up up hill climbs. Not very much parking.
More than just a neighborhood park. This has a range of hiking trails and good ways to assemble 2-3 mile loops, some beautiful vistas, access to Blodgett peak. Lots of dog walkers, and some places with flowing water for our four legged friends. The only thing missing is flat trails... This place is very much up and down hills so people with physical limitations should take note.Trails up the southern ridge go into the Waldo burn area so there are interesting remnants of that to see. Also, the trail that goes up Blodgett is NOT part of the open space and is not maintained. It is a trail-by-use path that predates the open space. A few of the trails in the open space also predated the open space and even Peregrine but were made part of the named trail system.
My favorite hike in all of El Paso county. This is for the hardcore in fitness, and has my invention of what I call foot skiing when you come back down. I never get tired of doing this hike.
So many trails in our backyard!
One of our favorite hikes in the Springs.
Nice dog friendly (on leash) trail with a gentle incline. Great views of the city.
Great views from the top (around 2400 elevation gain). Several large scree fields that have to be crossed on the way up can make it a less enjoyable hike.
Wonderful place
Great spot. Hardly ever see anyone else
Very small, but I guess thats because of the 2012 fire.
Want a quiet place to enjoy the city lights if Colirado Sorings CO? Right off Woodmen Drive. Perfect.
Great trails, not too crowded and theres a decent amount of parking! Definitely one of my new favorite places to hike.
Lots of trails. Everything is uphill first. The primary approach to Blodgett Peak is steep and poorly defined. ALWAYS, stay left of the creek until you reach the waterfall Cliff. Stay close to the cliff until you reach the upper section. Follow the trail south until you find a trail climbing the highest peak to the right. Looks like there could be a better approach from the open space trails to the South but havent had a chance to explore far enough yet.
Nice hiking trail so near the town! Good height for bird-eye view of town.
