I gave a one star because Im not sure how to get to this place. Google maps took me to a residential area. After driving around a bit I found where a trail started. It was all downhill behind homes. It was nice and had lots of shade. When I got to the bottom it was open and flat and nothing around to enjoy. Already annoyed it I decided to turn around and go back. I didnt know how much further I needed to go to see anything worth exploring.
A little confusing to get to but great trails! View is out of this world gorgeous. Definitely will do again.
Great smaller easy trail system that is simple to navigate and access.
Great trails, beautiful front range views.
This beautiful public land is surrounded by the homes of the most wealthy citizens of Colorado Springs and they want it for themselves. The trail head was poorly marked and had little parking. It’s almost impossible to find your way out without trespassing. Once in the trail is lovely.
Now called Austin Bluffs Open Space, this special place is nestled within the city historically rich center for lithic and later people, both enjoying brilliant scapes of mountains, ancient valleys blanketed in Pinon-Juniper woodlands, Spruce, Gambles Oak, and signature sandstone Eocene rock formations. Spend an hour in the hidden hoodoos, or spend the day exploring the nooks and crannies.
Great place for a short hike or even combine all the trails and make a day out of it. Gorgeous views of Pikes Peak and overlooking Colorado Springs.
Google Maps makes access points to this open face very difficult, you might be trudging through someones yard at one recommendation and also at another! I wish there was a way to see official entries and exits etcetera.
Didnt see too many people, lots of rocks to climb on. Went with a group and it was a nice experience
Great place for a hike or bike. Not as busy as other open spaces. Biking terrain for all levels with ranging from trails requiring expert biking experience to others that a kid could ride. People do often walk their dogs with no leashes which hasnt been too big a problem with a couple friendly (fortunately) dogs chasing after me on my bike about twice in a year cycle.
Trails upon trails! I stayed there all day just exploring. Also, theres always trees close by so if it ever gets too hot, you can always find some shade. Not crowded at all and no steep grades. And always bring plenty of water. Peace.
A less popular open space in COS that offers good walking, hiking, mtn biking trails. Its adjacent Pulpit Rock, but technically different. Access is limited and there are houses on most sides, so its hard to feel secluded. Great, nonetheless, for a little nature in the city. Nice views. And, theyre making new trails for better access.
What a pleasant surprise! This is a wonderful park with unexpectedly great views! The bluffs are beautiful and easily accessible. What is most surprising is that the park feels like it would be on the west side of town, near the mountains, but its not. The park is centrally located in Colorado Springs yet has a mountain feel to it. If you are on the east side of town, no need to go any further west than this park for a really great walk with a mountain feel. Highly recommended!!!!!!!
What a beautiful area. Im so grateful to live near enough to it to visit it frequently. The views over Colorado Springs are difficult to find anywhere else; so close to the city, yet still feeling removed enough to call wild. Ive seen a coyote, owls, a dozen types of birds, and many many deer. 10/10 should visit
Beautiful space
Some pretty run down trails in spots and some very well made trails in others. Not high traffic so tons of wildlife all around.
Like stepping back into the B.C. era right in the middle of the Springs. Real nice & peaceful.
Love it here! Its not very crowded. Great place to get some nature and enjoy the view of pikes peak
A amzing walk and learn around with everybody.
Nice hike and climbing up to the top!
Beautiful trails with wonderful rock formations. Some flat lowland areas but mostly brush/forest. Many networks of trails, both wide and narrow, steep and flat. Great hiking area for dogs and children, just please pick up behind yourselves.
Gorgeous view nice hiking trails expect to spend at least two hours out there enjoying the scenery
Trails range from easy to challenging depending where you go
Beautiful space but overcrowded
Love this area! Sooooo blessed to live in cragmoor right across the street.
Great place to go on runs, lots of interconnecting trails throughout
I love this easy hike. . .
Great place to get out and enjoy nature. Fresh air along with great views. Its a place to truly reconnect with your family and nature
Nice area. Some pretentious home owners on the outskirts though.
Good trails.. we frolicked with a coyote and a rattle snake
Relatively quiet, secluded with great trails.
Very beautiful hiking trail, definitely worth going back!
Love this place. Pretty area.
Great spot to adventure around. If you’re looking for privacy, this isn’t the place for you. However the trails and views are nice. I like the fact I don’t have to go far.
Not a bad open space maybe it was just google maps that kept giving me bad directions. I kept ending up in neighborhoods or at somebodys house. After driving around for 10 minutes found some hidden public parking and walked around. Doesnt seem like its really open for the public only the people who live near by.Plenty of nice views of the mountains
Great area to hike around. Very close to The heart of Colorado Springs
Soooooo beautiful..
It has been ruined by UCCS, all you see of the open space anymore is Pulpit Rock and a bunch of ugly UCCS buildings, especially the giant barracks, standing on what used to be a beautiful natural landscape.
Nice little park for a walk with good views of the university
Great place to hike in the city. There are a lot of trails and options!
Many trails of easy to moderate difficulty. Interesting views and natural features. Large enough to do 4 to 5 mile hike without covering same ground twice.
Its a little hard to find if you havent been there before but there are amazing views and long trails. It feels like youre actually in the mountains. Its a delightful surprise in the middle of our concrete jungle.
Great hikes beautiful views easy for the two year old to do and nice and quiet
Nice and easy walk. Beautiful views
I am a trail runner I explore here daily and love it.
Beautiful natural area, trails, rock formations, watch for snakes and other wildlife
I love the views
Beautiful area and views. Unfortunately, the trails are not maintained and therefore becoming badly eroded.
Nice scenery, but the trails are rough and hard to follow.
Palmer Park without roads and overuse. Parking and trailhead are unmarked and hard to find! Think they keep it that way on purpose! So easiest access I have found is too park on University Park Blvd, just off Academy and then walk across Rockhurst and into the park. Be sure to keep track of where you enter the park as there are many neighborhood exits.
Fun time
Great place to walk and get away from everything! Blank your mind, NINJAZ!
Awesome place to hike! Beautiful formations and views.
Great place for afternoon walk with the dogs.
This is one of our favorite places to go for a quick walk. There are so many side trails that you can go many times and never do the exact same walk twice.
So much fun
There are Deer running around, beautiful views and a small park for the kids to play. Its awesome!!
Great place to stretch the legs, hike with the pups, and unwind.
A little tough to find the parking but it was absolutely gorgeous and not a lot of people around. Definitely bring a first aid kit and good shoes as one could easily trip but well worth it and I plan on returning.
Mountain hiking in the city.
Many different trails
Some nice trails in the middle of the city.
Great place for a short and easy hike.
Great hike.
Not memorable, almost forgot I was there.
This hidden outdoor area is city owned and stretches from Pulpit Rock to Union Blvd. It is made up of three areas: Pulpit Rock, University Park, and Austin Bluffs. There is a parking at Pulpit Rock Park. There is one wide sidewalk trail that follows Rockhurst Blvd to the top of the hill where is there a small unmarked parking lot that may be a future tailhead. There are social trails running throughout the University Park area. There are no public restrooms.Map available on the city website.
No crowds! Beautiful trail
Great for hiking
Wonderful place for a hike
I went online to look for some open space or dog parks for my dogs play since we just moved out of the mountains and lo and behold it said that Austin bluffs open space was over 500 acres of wooded area and it is not true it is a huge new neighborhood full of expensive homes!
Always enjoy my time on the trails
Nice community park in the city
So beautiful!
Great little hidden gem.
What? Dont follow google maps to this place. If there is a place to go here we couldnt find it
Pretty nice
Simply gorgeous terrain in the middle of the city
Very nice, easy hikes
Its awsome I love going up there
Im dumb and I couldnt find it or it doesnt exist

Nice place
Grate for hiking and walking
