This place should be a lot larger given the quality of the work by the resident company. As a resident alien I especially appreciated their irreverent take on Pinter and Mike Leigh. I wish Id gone more often.

Love this theater. Great ensemble. Every play I have seen here has been fantastic. Evening at the talk house was very well done and the actors were superb..

This is a very small space and the set design is minimal to the point of non-existence. There is no stage, just the floor. The show was very good. Three out of four actors were Equity. An elaborate set isnt really a requirement for a meaningful performance. The entry process is kind of a bummer. Have to stand in line for first come seating. Many seats are reserved for subscribers of the theater so regular people are stuck on the sides of the house which kind of grates. It really was a very good show.

A small but unusual venue, and always an unusual and provocative show. Refreshingly atypical.

Great shows. Went to see two productions and both have been excellent. Good value for money. Get on their mailing list for preview shows that cost half the price. Also come 30 min before the show starts to get good seats. Its first come first serve.

Current play, Fulfillment, was terrific. The seats are comfortable and the atmosphere small and intimate. Great sound and lighting

Intimate setting with excellent ensemble and stage settings. Where else can you watch Michael Shannon so close you can smell his breath! The neighborhood is nice and lively to spend the rest of the evening.

Wicked good theater. I saw Fulfillment Center this past weekend and was blown away by the intimacy and suspension of belief that I experienced in such a small space. Despite minimal sets and props, I felt totally immersed in the 90-minute show. Lighting design depicted everything from a sunny window to a buzzing factory... all the way to the minimal light of a car interior at night. Sound design was ANNOYING in the best way, with tense clicking sounds for some scenes and aggressive alarms inside the fulfillment center itself. Music before, during, and after the show was spot-on.I saw shocking, personal, and familiar pieces of myself in each of the characters, but my favorite character was the older woman who depicted a down-on-her-luck hippie/bodyworker/estranged sister. I totally forgot she was playing a character until curtain call came and I was shaken out of my theater trance. Overall, a phenomenal job by AROT. Cant wait to see what they create next.

A Red Orchid theater is always surprising and entertaining. Many of the original founders have made it big, such as Michael Shannon, but they still support the theater and appear in or direct shows. The theater only seats about 200. It is located in the Old Town neighborhood so there are many dining options.

Ive seen two plays at this small theater with poor HVAC. Last year, I fell asleep because it was so warm in the theater once the play began. This year, I was uncomfortably warm and it was on a jacket-weather June night. Seating is general admission and you need to get in line a half hour before - then they march their season ticket buyers in front of you and let them choose the best seats. Neither of the plays I saw were interesting or really well acted.

Generally compelling, sometimes excellent productions in a tiny, black box theatre. Best known for launching the career of Michael Shannon (Nocturnal Animals, Take Shelter, Man of Steel), who He still appears in plays now and then (Pilgrims Progress, Simpatico).
