A fantastic stop for kids or adults. Not a huge area to cover so you could just hop on here. Easily accessible as you leave the visitors center on your walk through downtown. Great info on the history of the railroad industry and the impact this little train had.

The Best Friend Of Charleston Museum is a great place to learn about the train history of Charleston. It seems like they had a lot figured out back in the day about transportation. Cool history and a cool train in the middle of the museum that you are not allowed to climb on, but it is still good to look at and imagine. This museum is free and quick to be able to see and experience. I was impressed with the museum and it is a good plat to take people from out of town when showing them around. The staff here is friendly and informed on train related questions.

Kids really seem to live this display. Its a good little stop off to get out of the heart and into some air conditioning during hot days in downtown Charleston. It tends to be somewhat quiet as well which is odd since its a favorite spot for many children. It is also free to go in and walk around the display.

It was interesting information. Very small museum. Appropriate for small children and free. Within short walking from Charleston Visitor Center.

A very nice little museum dedicated to one of the first steam railroads in the United States. Definitely a stop for railroad and history buffs.

This should say exhibit instead of museum. This is one large train and several photographs inside the visitor center. There were tons of people in the small room getting information about tourist attractions. My son was not impressed.

Its just one train and the rest of it is pictures and reading. The reviews of this place says a must visit for train lovers but honestly that comment feels like a dishonest positive review. It is free and does have air conditioning. So, its good to walk through going to the kid museum next door from the parking area.
