The trail system is slowly coming back to life with some outstanding volunteers. The biking trails arent as far along as the running trails but both are the furthest of any trails in C.R. area. Again....ALL with volunteers. BIG shoutout to Chris Nims for his hard work on running trails!! Huge A+ for EFFORT!!

Is the park named after Carl Van Vechten or the family? One would think that if its named after Carl that the city is getting a little dig in. The park is in flux as they make improvements to parking. Though, the recent power line upgrades have degraded the visual appeal of the park. The high capacity lines go marching through. Carl should have never written that little book that scandalized our little city so.

I wouldnt say Ive actually spent alot of time at the vechten parks but I am frequently driving thru and past them almost daily. The pavilion was where me and my partner Jake had a picnic lunch. It was quiet and far enough away from the road . Unfortunately jake was in a fatal car accident on that road and the pavilion is in need if repair.

A sad example of beautiful woodland scenery ruined. it was pretty enough in the front but the sound of the factory ruined the ambiance towards the river and there were large piles of broken glass and trash in the wooded areas overall the vibe here was not pleasing in the least. :(

The park has expansive woods to explore. Its a great place to go enjoy nature and have your own adventures. Ive been here many times over the years and I always discover something new whenever I delve into the woods. The playground area itself is nice as well. Theres so much room to do everything!

We went to Upper Van Vechten Park, its smaller than Van Vechten Park. It is nice for little kids. We left after some sketchy looking people came out of the trees behind it though.

A lot of work is being done to this park. However the park atop The hill has handicap parking spots that are not level with the rest of the lot so its almost like parking up the curb. Otherwise the park is pretty clean and full of activities for the children and the pavilion is nice.

The equipment is functional the grounds of this place looks like he hasnt been kept up. It does not have a bathroom, so if you come here with small kids and they have to use the bathroom you have to go home or go to a gas station.

A river runs through it and the city noise is the downfall to this park not some where Id like to spend a great deal of time at

A nice little park with playground equipment for the kids and baseball diamonds as well. The only possible negative is the occasional smell from a few of the local nearby factories, but otherwise a great little park!
