Moderately challenging. Go when it hadnt rained in 4 or 5 days, as the trail is clay. Bug spray is needed, especially near the areas with water. Be very careful to watch for snakes and gators too. Use my posted pic of the trail map to reference. The trail is fairly shaded too and I experienced nice moments of cool breezes. My dogs loved it too.
Came here for a trail run to test out some new shoes...seriously disappointed and annoyed. After the first 3 or so welcome signs, the attached picture is the quality of trail you have to look forward to. Oh, and if you enjoy running into spider webs every 50 feet, this is the place for you. I dont mind the technical aspect of it, with the ample tree roots, that part is fine. The issue I have is the trails just randomly ending, are super steep going down into the marshes, and arent taken care of at all. When was the last time you people actually did trail maintenance, 2019?
Pretty hike in the woods. Wasnt swampy on the day I went, but can tell some spots would be more difficult if there had been a lot of recent rain.
Absolutely stunning and if youre lucky, youll see wildlife such as deer, rabbits, cranes, and a very elusive alligator.
This was a nice trail. My only complaint is that the trail isnt kept up as well as I think it should be. For example, we almost lost the trail because a fallen tree with vines covered the trail. Oh and believe the signs, there are definitely alligators!!!
Typical swamp wetland heritage preserve with decent parking lot and trail.
Beautiful trail to walk down. Me and some friends seen a baby gator down there
Love this place. I am often the only person there. Keep your eyes peeled for aligators though....especially if you take your dog. There is a marked path but no concrete walkway or boardwalk. Just cleared pathways. The mosquitoes can be challenging until after the first good freeze.
Looks really good, but extremely wet right now because of the rain. Definetly should come back when the trail is dry. No bicycles or horebacking is allowed. There is a chance to see alligators.
Bring bug spray!
Tight trails, infested with mosquitoes. Not the best place to walk a small dog since there are a lot of obstacles for them. I wouldnt recommend running here because of all the roots. Good for nature watching and if you like swampy areas. I did like the loop around trail.
If you live in Columbia, SC and you want to get away from the city for a short trip, this is the place to go. 10 min drive and you are walking on trails and encounters the wildlife. Make sure to bring food and water. And I recommend bug stray in the Summer.
Very nice
Great place to take a walk through the woods. Dogs allowed. Read up on it via Wikipedia - lots of information about the site including the Battle of Congaree Creek.
Always peaceful and sparsely trekked; trails well-maintained; close in proximity to downtown Columbia.
I love the trails here. They are well maintained and lit in the evening.
This is a beautiful scenic walk through the woods along the river definitely worth looking at. Watch out for the alligators and snakes.
Awesome private area that has some great history.
A great place to take my children and to be in Nature
