This place was worth the 2 hr drive! We got there at 7am on a Saturday to be able to pick a spot we wanted. We were second person in line. I would recommend you come early because the line gets very long quick! The water was so clear and pretty. The bathrooms were being cleaned often. People stayed away from each other since covid is still spreading. Would recommend coming here for a good time in the water and a good place to social distance and relax. Would recommend bring watershoes especially for the kids.
The lake is a walk up from the park. So many memories here with the family already. I cant wait to go back. Grills available to bbq texas style. Play park for the kids. Super clean water omg!!!
We got there early in the morning & it was beautiful!!! Water was clear, fresh & cool. Breeze blowing so refreshing! All I could do is marvle at the beautiful creation of an amazing Creator......Selah.
The park is nice. $10 per carload. Good place to fish, can swim in both shallow and deep water. Nice for boats/jet ski. No outside personal grills are allowed. The park has plenty of tables and each seems to have a nice pit. Parking wasnt an issue. The toilets are compost toilets and they stink to high heaven. The park is monitored, staff were always on the grounds, on golf carts. My only beef was that the check-in lady wasnt very nice, definitely a Karen. Very sarcastic and had an ugly attitude.
The best lakeside beach......nice scenery...clear cool water...clean parks with cool shade
I have gone there since I was young. Canyon Lake became my home. I have always enjoyed myself and whoever Im with that Id take to see the beautiful land and I grew up around. Thank you to whomever reads this. Have a blessed day .
It’s a wonderful park with great swimming especially for little ones. The bathrooms are filthy though! The website states that they sanitize touch points and I have yet to see it. We’ve spent 2 days here (all day) and haven’t seen anyone cleaning bathrooms. One even overflowed and there was “stuff” everywhere. If you can handle holding it then this is the park for you
Beautiful lake and has kids friendly swim area. Dogs are allowed. Weekend it’s gets too full and there is no way to check in advance. Also there is $10 entry fee.
We love it at comal park at canyon lake. The scenery is so beautiful out there. And its a short drive from San Antonio.
This park Was great to come here Jacob creek park was closed should have called first never have had to but they are closed. This park was great new spot to start coming too and its closer to the house. Enjoyed it the only thing i could say that needs inprovement about the park was the restrooms were soo nasty.... is that was maintained regularly it would be five star.
Great place to escape city life. To get a nice cool form from Texas heat. Family friendly, dog friendly and nice place for self care.
Serene or bustling areas to pick from. Shade, picnic tables, grills, and restroom. See Jans Pond- though tiny and man-made, offers water sounds, a different kind of beauty and peace.
Gorgeous! Paid $10 to park, stayed all day from 9-3. Water was so clear and perfect. You definitely need water shoes
Beautiful place. Beautiful scenery and great place to be with family. Only bad experience was the womens restroom, it was horrible theres no ventilation for the bathrooms to air out. It smelled really bad and dirty.
Very beautiful park to go visit! Great spots to lay out and bbq with the park grills and tables.
Getting in can be a gamble because they do car count of 300 and will close the park until 50 cars leave. So you may have to leave and come back a couple hours later to get in but at only $10 a car its not a bad place. The staff do attempt to clean up the park throughout the day but some people are such pigs and will not even attempt to pick up their mess like the $10 dollars they paid to get in means they get servants, besides the point though 4 stars is because are not very many tables as compared to parking spaces so they are not even filling the park and more than half of the people have no park table or bbq pit and since you cant bring your own pit that is your second challenge after you get in the park.
Great beach at Canyon Lake. The beach is gravel, be sure to wear water shoes!
Great spot to relax at Canyon Lake. It does get packed on holidays and sometimes it gets little trashy and loud but price is right and the water is great. Theres a spot for every type, picnic tables, barbecue grills, playground and a beach. The more adventurous bring their own canapes and gear and post up right on the lakes edge.
We love this spot! It is a great clean lake to swim in with the family but recently we went and there was ALOT of litter so please clean up after yourselves and children. There is not drinking but people are clearly drinking there anyhow, I wish there was some rangers or something to enforce the littering and drinking. I would be willing to pay to have this added. The hike down to the water is steep so be careful with the little ones and I suggest bringing your own chairs and sun covering structure because you are just out there in the hot sun if not.
Cost $10 per car. It was better by the dam. Still beautiful though.
If your looking for a place on the lake to come to and play in the water then this place will do. There is some good parking lots, picnic tables and some shore line with lots of rocks.
I don’t like the fact that they close at 7 pm ,, ppl need to get there early to get a good spot , there’s plenty of trees for shade is a beautiful park
Great park. Lots to do and kids loved it
Spacious clean water. It was a bummer you couldnt bring your own grill. Only open till end of September. Closes @ 730pm.
This is one of the best public access beaches around Canyon Lake. Get here early if you dont want to be turned away!
That’s great place but the management of the park is terrible. You can’t come back if you exit, you have to pay again and there is no RV parking. They don’t give you any receipt. I don’t trust this management how they collect payment without receipts.Good luck!!
Nice place. Saw turtles next to me in the water. Lol. Granddaughter loved it! Beautiful scenery
Id visited this nice place with our friends whom recommended us about it . we found very good for families with their children nice view and weather plus the kids had a fun in the river .
Enjoyed the day beautiful scenery will come back again.
Loved the facilities. Clean and well maintained.
Nice breeze, not excessively hot, and peaceful.
Nice place. I would have given it 5 stars except that the woman at the gate was so incredibly rude and awful.
Love this place. Plenty of room to social distance. Water is beautiful! Dogs on a leash are allowed.
This is a beautiful park and very clean. The lake is great
Great place to swim. This park gets full fast so go early.
Very soothing and relaxing if youre an outdoors person.
Great place to visit and spend time with family and friends
This lake beautiful. Clear water and lots of activities at and around the lake.
Lovely lake side to spend an evening
We love this part of the lake, but you need to check their Facebook for capacity. They don’t count the cars that leave, they simply just shut down entry once they hit capacity and they’re not very nice about it.We were sad and ended up leaving without touching the water.
Beautiful place I drove from Houston to this place and it was totally worth it. Highly recommend!
Perfect quick day trip to let the boys play!
Nice clean park. Gets very full, very early. We ate here when it opens to get a decent spot.
Lots of space, beautiful lake front, play set for kids, sand volleyball court and sandy beach
I couldn’t enjoy this park because of how mushy the ground was in the water. I wish I would have seen the reviews before coming because plenty mentioned bringing water shoes and they were right! The restrooms are porta-potties, they stink really bad and are really gross. If you plan on staying here long, take that in mind.
Very nice, bathrooms and porta potties are gross but what do you expect lol
First time at the lake. Very relaxing and clean place to visit, we loved it!
Great park for all kinds of things! Huge playground, open beach and plenty of picnic tables and parking.
Since new owners, entrance is $10. I would recommend going to overlook park for free
Love it here. Great family park
Kids had fun and me and the fiance loved the scenery
Lots of rocks in the water. Sometimes mud. Rocks were slippery.
Hard to get a better value for $10.00
Park is clean with lots of places to picnic and hang out on the water. Older woman at entrance is rude & doesnt seem to like ANYONE.
Love the new upgrades. Thanks for being there for the people of Comal.
Awesome and beautiful. $10 to get in
Have a fun time with the family here! Come early!
Love this place. Clean and easy access
Beautiful area to be around take in nature
$10 entrance fee per vehicle. Went on a Wednesday no crowds
Beautiful place.
Great place to hang out at the lake. In the summer you want to get there early before it gets full. Has picnic areas and swimming area.
Since W.O.R.D. Has taken over it has gone hill. No longer allowed to use pop up canopies. What kind of bs is that?
Great place
Nice park with a beach and plenty of boat parking
It was nice.plenty of shade.Tables.Swimming.Grills.Basketball court.
Great shade areas, clean and decent restrooms. Bbq or ice chest, lawn chairs or hammocks.
Came here on Fathers Day, not too crowded and plenty of space between us and other visitors. Admission is $5 per car, cash only. BBQ pits & tables provided. Make sure to bring water shoes as the rocks on the shore are not very forgiving. Well for sure be back!
Lake is low, cranes mill dock is blocked off. Cant fish there. Fished at wrong place at comal park. No fish.
We all had fun
Great place for families
If you like water
They don’t allow to enter with RV. Even for 30 minutes. Rude people.
Very clean its was friendly and everyone kept to them self
Awesome place for family fun
Fun in the sun!
This is my happy place
Restroom facility was disgusting. No trash cans nearby at all. Dumpsters by the parking lot were overfilled and trash bags all over the place. I don’t understand the good reviews to this place. Paid $5 to drive in and drive right back out.
We enjoyed getting in the water, but the bathrooms were unacceptable. There was trash dumped in the corners, no toilet paper available and the pile of trash was covered in someones period blood. I shouldve asked for my money back.
Beautiful place
Great park - clean and easy access to the water. Excellent security with Sheriffs patrolling on land and on the water. The only negative is it can get crowded.
Awesome and clean place!!
Came on July 4th. The park was nearly full, but we got parking on the beach side. We set up near the water and its a bit of a walk down hill. So when its time to leave its a bit of a work out carrying all the stuff back up. The restrooms were HORRIBLE! There were no trash cans in the restroom so there was tampons, diapers and toilet paper every where on the floor. There was also no toilet paper. They also had port a pottys, that I didnt check out. Other than that we had a great time in the water. Oh and I would really recommend beach shoes! There are so many rocks at the beach area.
Playground was closed. Would have been nice to know that when we paid to get in to the park considering we were nearly the only ones in sight. (There may have been a few campers...) Bathrooms were trashed. Water fountain didnt work. Part of the area leading around the park was taped off - not sure if that is typical or not. I wouldnt waste time or money here. USACE can do better.
The last post was 2 months ago, the park was not open 2 months ago, since W.O.R.D has taken over the PARK from the corp of engineer, they have come up with a rule that you cannot provide shade, NO pop-up canopies allowed, yet they do not provide any type of shelter from the sun, that particular rule they have established is unfair ,unhealthy !!!They allowed shade today but will be enforcing the NO SHADE POLICY THROUGHOUT THE SUMMERPLEASE , SOMEONE ELSE SPEAK UP
Good place to go, but it gets trashed, so be prepared to pick up around you,.
Awesome place!
My favorite park yet. Tables are spread out so even on a busy day your not to close to other people. Not much shade by tables so definitely bring your canopies and chairs unless your on the top which is really far from water. Water is fresh, not cold and not hot. On busy days Lots of jet skies and boats that pass by so it will be wavy. Only $5 to get in and no in and out allowed. Bathrooms are clean
We always enjoy it out there.. big play ground. Never had any issues out there
Nice park dont like the people that trash it and just dont have. Any respect
I really liked this park definitely family friendly the only reason I didnt give it five stars was because the restrooms were absolutely disgusting the park management really needs to keep up with the cleaning.
Very busy holiday and weekends so come early but always fun.
Best place ever
The grounds are always clean and the rangers are helpful with parking assistance.
Staff was rude and very unprofessional!
