This is an amazing place to see. The tour is very informative with lots of fossils and geological features. You even see some dinosaur tracks.

Really amazing scenery. All of the tour guides were extremely friendly and knowledgeable.I couldn’t quite imagine it being too much shorter than 3 hours. We were walking and talking the entire time. I felt like I learned so much. I think people who complain about the time are those who are not there to actually learn about the geology, which is fine but this is definitely and educational tour. It’s so beautiful I would recommend to anyone in the area

Maybe 3 hours is good for a large group, but we were 10 people, and it could have been done in 2 hours, as others here have said. Our humorous guide shared lots of interesting info laced with anecdotes, but the standing-and-listening sessions got a little lengthy, particularly in the hot sun. Otherwise very educational and enjoyable. A family friendly excursion. This is not a strenuous hike - sturdy sneakers are just fine.

This tour is outstanding. The scenery is beautiful and the tour guide (our main one was Tim) was very engaging and kept our entire family interested throughout a long geology lesson. I will definitely do this again someday. It is long (3hours) so come prepared for the weather and bring water.

Quite an AMAZING experience! This gorge was carved over a week’s time during the flood of 2002 when Canyon Lake’s waters overflowed and poured over the spill way. I did not exist before then. The pictures don’t do it justice – you must experience this in person to believe it. Trust me, you will be in awe as the tour guide takes you through the gorge. It’s not a place that you can just go for a hike in. You need to purchase tickets ahead of time - $10 per person, and well worth it! As another reviewer stated, the online purchasing process is bad. Don’t even attempt it on your phone – it’s so much easier on a laptop or desktop computer. You meet at the address listed on the business page, then a small air-conditioned bus drives you to the actual gorge, just a short drive away. After you arrive at the gorge, everyone sits at picnic tables in the shade and the guide tells you about the flood and how the gorge was carved out. After that, the guide takes you through the gorge and explains so much more about the geology that was uncovered after the flood. It was SO informative.PRO TIP:There’s a restroom located at the parking area, then another one where the bus drops you off at the gorge. And there’s one more about halfway through the tour. I have **unbelievable** bladder control, so I didn’t have to use the one on the tour. But be forewarned, a certain someone told me that you can see outside through the spaces between the boards, so people can probably see in too. This person has been known to be paranoid in the past though, so you might want to check it out for yourself.

Its a beautiful place! Loved learning about the gorge and history of the limestone in the area. The educational part was excellent. The tour guide was very well spoken and had so much information.Heads up if you dont like standing around a lot. There was sooooo much standing around. While most of the talk was educational, I felt the same information could have been completed in a 2 hr time frame.Would not take a visiting guest here, since it was dragged out so long. But, if they ever offer a 2 hr hike, we would do it in a heartbeat.

This is one of the best tours I’ve ever been on in one of the coolest places I’ve ever been. I had low expectations going in because I thought a long geology tour could be boring but it was anything but. Great for folks of all ages, tour guide was fantastic.

5 stars for this hike! Great tour. Susan James, the tour guide (and I believe a microbiologist), was very engaging, knowledgeable, and entertaining... and patient for our large group to take multiple group photos. Great views, interesting history... we even saw a coyote and other wildlife. Our group of 11 ranged from 16 to 50. The tour was a little long but not physically taxing. Take plenty of water and sunscreen. If you are looking for an educational and somewhat recreational activity, I definitely recommend this tour.

Was there on a field trip. Location is beautiful but all the females teachers were very rude and mean to the kids. The men teachers were very nice and patient. I will not be going back for field trip ever.

I have taken the tour twice now within the last 6 months. Highly recommended. Ive had different guides each time and they have all been highly knowledgeable and personable. Groups are around 20 in size, just right. I first heard about the canyon from a natural geographic special talking about formation of the scab lands in eastern Washington from rapid flooding occurring from the Lake Missoula ice dam breaking. You can see the power of nature from recent history up close and personal. There are also dinosaur tracks to view and some remarkable fossils. Very special place.
