First time going to this swim hole called BULL PEN one of many that Arizona has to offer! Absolutely beautiful! The water was clean, crystal clear and cold but not too cold that it takes your breathe away the area we decided on was quite a walk back to the swim hole mostly flat dirt trails leading back approximately 2/3 of a mile so be prepared for that and don’t bother with floats as the swim hole area is mainly a large creek with some small rapids so not really float worthy but as you can see in the pictures the scenery is beautiful and definitely worth it! There is no park fee and if I had to say anything bad about the place it would only be that the road you take to get to the swim hole is a dirt road (approx 5 miles)With some fairly rough terrain that isn’t fit for most cars. We took my son’s Infiniti and had a hard time in some places of the road where there were larger rocks but we made it and I would recommend it to anyone except younger children that might find the hike back to the hole to be to much almost never ending!

Excellent trail. You hike down the valley with river and high rock walls. Beautiful but the 5 mile dirt road in is very rough. Id recommend a vehicle with good clearance. Fyi this Google label says Blodgett Basin but the onsite trail marker says West Clear Creek Trail

Great place to go for the day. Hike along the creek and jump in to cool down. Dirt road getting there is a bit rough but the van did it without any problems. Lots of parking and a restroom at the trail head. Plenty of shade but dont forget your water. We took my daughters who are 8 and 5, they made it about 3 miles in before wanting to turn around. Lots of beautiful scenery. I would like to go again, make it further down the trail, and stay over night.

If you dont have a 4x4 lifted Jeep it will destroy your car. Only drunk rednecks around here. I dont recommend this place.

A nice hike on/near water not too far out of Camp Verde, off Hwy 260. My sedan was able to handle the dirt road to the trailhead, but it was pretty rough in spots. I would recommend a vehicle with good clearance. The trail is a mixture of desert scrub and creek walking, with some nice red rock views. At one point, we had to cross the creek in order to continue. The obvious spot to cross was fairly deep, so we backtracked a ways and found a spot where someone had made a crossing out of logs and rocks--much easier and didnt require us to take off our shoes. Near the trailhead there were some sunbathers and swimmers using a swimming hole, but it was still a decent hike from the car. Probably would want to pack light if you were going for a swim or picnicking, as youre going to have to hoof it a ways. Farther down the trail, we met some hikers with packs. They had stayed over at least a night, and mentioned a waterfall area several hours hike away. The parking area is decent in size, and we were able to find a spot easily even on a Saturday afternoon. There were bathrooms (no running water) at the trailhead.
