It was definitely run down, not really taken care of. There was a old butterfly ride not working and a water system for kids missing pipes. But my kids had fun, the carousel, the train ride and the splash pad were their favorite.I loved the butterfly house. Theyre so friendly.

Very disappointed. I saw pictures of this place on the website and thought it was a great place to take my kids. However, when I got there the gardens looked run down and it was obvious that the plants werent being taken care of. Its a shame because it really could be beautiful. Hopefully they can put more time and effort into getting everything looking nice again. Until then, we will be going someplace else with better views.

We had a great time with our boys who are almost two. They were able to walk around most of the time. It was not crowded at all and the staff were very friendly. We also found out when we got there that aquarium members get half off which was great. This is a great outdoor option if you want something different from your local playground. Its also very close to a lot of other activities if you want to make a day trip.

Sad this place has potential if they would just clean it up. The only ride working is the carousel. Also why do I need to pay admission to get in and pay for the rides? Such a rip off

I went as a chaperone for my sons kindergarten class trip. The kids loved it! They went on the carousel and train ride, played on the playground, climbed dinosaurs, went through tunnels, held butterflies, and generally ran amok looking at everything. It was a little exhausting chasing 4 rambunctious boys at once, but Im looking forward to coming with my own family at a later date.

I think this place is hyped up more than it delivered. There are 3 rides for which you need to buy tickets. We bought 5 tickets going into the park for the two of us. One of the rides was broken, so that was a bummer. The park has a splash pad, so if you go, bring a bathing suit for your kid(s). At the corner of the park, there was a lot of excitement and noise. I followed the sounds and found out that everybody was having fun at the aquarium. The Childrens Garden may be better if it were better supported/maintained. Many paths have low branches which adults would have to duck while the kids scoot right on through. It makes chasing your kids (if necessary) difficult. We were excited about the butterfly house, but they only have 4 or 5 species there.I love the idea of it, but felt as a paying adult that it just didnt deliver. Children ages 2 - 6 would enjoy it. If you go, make sure it is an add-on after your time at the aquarium so that you get the Childrens Garden discount.

Located next to the aquarium and included in PHS reciprocal membership (listed as a free garden if you are a member). Friendly employees at the butterfly house and gift shop/admission. Cute exhibits that encourage imagination and free play. Unfortunately, it was not well maintained and many areas were closed.

Well, the place turned out to be a disappointment to us. I brought my 2 girls here looking forward to a wonderful Sunday day with my family but there was not much to see or do. Their website is deceitful, the reality of the Camden Children’s Garden didn’t look as pretty as it does on the internet. In my opinion, there is no ground to be charged 9$ for entrance and then 2.50$ for a ride on a kid’s train or a carousel. Overpriced, plants are not being taken care of. I gave it 2 stars because we were able to watch penguins through the fence of the Adventure Aquarium and my 8 year old liked the quest. She got a free ice cream after she completed it. Although, there were supposed to be blueberry festival activities for children today, August 11-we didn’t see any of them. All the driving we did from Philadelphia for something we could have gotten in the nearest playground...disappointing.I don’t recommend this place.

This is a hidden gem along the Camden water front. Perfect place to have a picnic! Take a relaxing winding walk! Also its a childrens garend but I didnt see an overwhelming amount of kids! The sprinkler fountains in the front are awesome, refreshing, and fun.Pack a bathing suit for the kids. The shop offers towels, sun screen and bug spray.... very thoughtful when you come unprepared as we did the first visit. The price is shocking, 9 dollars, a membership 50, family of 4!The gardens are a bit over grown in some places, but still beautiful, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Everything is kid climbing friendly, 2 rides reasonably priced tickets and they are decent rides!Visit this park, garden center, just one time with kids and a packed picnic lunch and you wont be let down.** I piggy back this park when we go to aquarium now because its less crowded and gives us a chance to wind down after the aquarium, eat and relax before driving home.... try it!

This place is the BEST. One of the only places where little people are truly free to run, climb, jump, learn, and explore. We dont have to worry about enforcing inside voices, no touching signs, etc. Everybody can have fun here, but its especially ideal for kids under age 10.

A lovely, underestimated place to take your youngins thats affordable. Its minimalist only in the sense that there arent bright, flashy lights and sounds jangling your kids senses to entertain them - the point is to give their imagination peace and freedom to wander and entertain themselves. Thats what enjoying nature is for. While they play, you can walk and read the placards of natural facts and history of the area. Theres a butterfly house, splash area, carousel, train ride, garden, and fairy tale play place, plus fresh fruits and ice cream for a hot summer day.

The train ride and carousel cost an additional $2 per person, but were gentle fun for all. The kids loved the splash zone where they entertained themselves for over an hour. However, it was miniscule and offered the least of all such splash areas we have visited. The butterfly house was delightful. Thats about all there was. My amateur garden outshone the greenery at the Childrens Garden. Other areas were in neglect. My final impression was that new management and direction were greatly needed. Not worth the $10/person entry fee. Someone out there who has the authority, please help the untapped potential awaiting. The city of Camden certainly could use a little positive P.R. (Oh,BTW, on the weekday we visited there were two other families who visited. Thats it.)

This place is a hidden gem! Go here instead of the overpriced, overcrowded aquarium next door. My little girl loves it. Theres a small train, a carousel, a butterfly garden, lots of little paths for exploring, cool toys, a tree house, a dinosaur garden, wild bunnies etc. Small details add to its charm. All the workers are lovely and kind too. By the way, this place is in a completely safe area next door to the aquarium. We took the ferry over from center city Philadelphia which was also part of the adventure!

Weve visited several times and plan to become members next year. The garden is just the right size for my 4yo - small and manageable. We love the carousel, the train, the viewing area above the tunnels, the butterfly house, and the dinosaur sculptures. Seems priced fairly to me at $8/pp (compared to HOW much at the aquarium?!?!) and rides are extra.

So much potential. There is a few problems with this place and it makes me really sad that attendance is terrible here with such a good idea. First off you are pretty much forced to park in the aquarium lot which is 10$ higher than the price of admission to go here. The butterfly house is awesome and the employees posted here are always so knowledgeable, there is a free butterfly house at Red Bank Park that is much smaller and has very limited hours. I think they should consider selling nectar cups to make some extra cash or have butterfly scavenger hunt cards. The rides cost an additional 2.50 which also is fine but the carousel didnt even play music and they have some butterfly tower ride that is not operable that looks like it hasnt been renewed since 2015. If your not using it , lose it. You are wasting space that could be utilized. We didnt use the water area but it is very comparable to the free public water area at Fasola Park. The signs throughout the storybook garden are honestly the best piece of this whole area when you take the time to read them which is hard with a little one but they should have some kind of hands on activity planned out for everyday. You easily could get little theaters or summer theaters to perform fairytales at the stage area that is set up here that has been unused all six times i have been here. I did see a lot of volunteer work and minor construction going on and it also seems like the employees love this place and are invested. Please find a good business partner and some educators to work with and take this place to its full potential.
