This was a fabulous state park just a stone throw from Sioux Falls downtown. You can get decent cell coverage there. There are multiple campsites that have 50 amp hookup. There is a dump station and water (one of the nicer dump and water stations Ive seen). There are a few trails, playground, horse shoes, grill, picnic tables and campfire areas. The staff was friendly. Firewood is sold on site for $6 per cubic foot. There is a disc golf course, although it is somewhat muddy. There were surprisingly few bugs. For a small park, it was very nice. You do need to pay to enter. Consider buying the annual pass for $36.

Nice park with large lots. Electric only. Very clean restrooms with showers. Big Sioux River right next door. Very nice paved walk/bike path around perimeter. Lots and lots of shade, too! Their is a dump station with water as you exit.

Nice place. We rented a cabin as it was 30 degree forecasted nights... And they were great. Very basic, with bunk beds and a table inside. Outside was a fire ring and a picnic table.Note, being late season and a last minute reservation, we took the ADA cabin... I honestly dont recommend it, if you have a choice. The fire pit was obviously on the ground, and you had to trek down the ramp and all the way around the cabin to get too it. And its okay, but the other cabins had the fire pit 10 feet from the front door and I think I would have liked that better.Another thing to note... The hiking trails are pretty good there. And... If your into fishing o highly recommend going to the north side of the park to the canoe launch. .. otherwise you are going to be hiking a fair ways with all your heart to reach the water. Probably okay if your a solo or adult group... Not so much fun of your fishing with small kids.

We enjoyed a full morning at the area. We wandered through the disc golf area and had our disks but many of the holes were missing from flooding and the course was very muddy. It was still fun to walk through the woods.Bring your bug spray and be sure to keep observing social distancing rules. When the trail gets crowded, just slow down and let others pass. Thanks for helping!Plenty of dog fans were around and the park had a good variety of folks enjoying the day.

We stayed here two nights the end of July 2019. Sites are electric, no water at campsite but available. Large shady, private sites. With the $7.70 non resident fee and the $6 entrance fee the site was around $30 per night. Lots of hiking, disc golf, archery course, bike trails, and canoe launch. The Big Sioux was up so some of the trails were under water.

Its right outside the edge of town, so easy to get to local stores but still in nature right next to the river. Very reasonably priced, nice showers and bathrooms, and the river offers good views and fishing. Definitely would stay again.

Well maintained campground with clean bathrooms (free showers), grated fire pit and picnic table at each site, and a playground for families. Most spots have enough room for a tent on the grass (and an RV or car on the gravel pad). We stayed in a cabin, which was in great condition, very clean, and had a window AC unit (hello, glamping!). Fire wood is available near the entrance of camp or at the local grocery store. Its an emerald ash borer quarantine zone, so dont buy more than you need.

Beautiful park with nice long, level tree shaded RV lots. Wish it had full hook ups. Only electricity. But, I know South Dakota is trying to keep their natural parks pristine with less development for water and sewer.

Great 70 long spot under the trees. Right next to the Big Sioux River. Very quiet, no bugs or mosquitos. Fire ring and picnic table at sight. Bike path follows the river. 50 amp site with dump sight on. 49 total RV sites, also tent sights by playground area.

My wife and I recently went on a hike here, we went on the trail called valley of the Giants what a beautiful trail! I can only begin to imagine how old some of the trees are for how huge they are. I enjoyed how the trail followed the river and covered varying grades of terrain. We also came across a yank yank ( mini woodpecker ) on a branch high in a tree ... We said hello but he didnt acknowledge our presence ... What an ass. The old log cabin is also a nice historical location to check out if you look to the Northeast of it there is a stairwell that leads down into an old pantry or maybe it was meant to be a bomb shelter not sure...

There are about 50 camping sites and many more. It has lots of hiking, disc golf, and bike trails. The restrooms are clean and well managed. Lots of picnic area. Nice park.

Rude counter help, after arriving with a paid in full email receipt he told me I needed to pay an additional 7.00 dollars for some vehicle sticker. Thats absurd, it felt it felt like a nickel and dime situation handed down from the city....They should have told me that on the phone 8hrs. earlier when booking...I left and will never return, and I have camped here before.

This campsite was great! For around $22/night, we got an electric site, picnic table and fire pit. The site itself was nice with enough distance between your neighbor that you dont feel on top of one another. You have to use SD wood in the fire pits, so just be aware there. The showers and bathroom were very clean. In fact, I was impressed at just how nice the campground showers were. This picture is of a handicap stall, so it was larger in size, but still quite nice. There were 2 showers in the bathroom. They also have a playground here too. The paved trails for running/biking were awesome with a nice view of the river. Overall, I thought it was great!

This is a Recreation Area, as opposed to a Park. There are miles of trails and they are easily accessible. The maps at each trailhead are very helpful. I took the Trail of the Giants Loop from the campground and was pleasantly surprised by how forested and green it was. I also took the Prairie Vista loop which had very little shade and a steep climb. Both had good views of the Big Sioux River. There are numerous picnic areas, kayaking on the River, and a disc golf course. Close enough to Brandon to hear sirens, but so heavily treed one thinks one is in the woods.

There are many things I like about this spot: close to I-90 without feeling like it, great access to trails and the river. However, I am highly disappointed by the tent campsites. I was offered an option of electric vs. non-electric campsite but that is the smallest detail of the difference between the two. While the electric sites are manicured and delineated private spots with abundant tree cover, the non-electric “sites” are best described as the grassy part of the noisy adjacent playground, no trees of any note, and meager 3-foot bushes to attempt marking which “site” is which. This area would be best used as one large group site; the value is appalling as an individual campsite.

Very nice. A bit deserted in late October, but they have electric hookups and one non-freezing water spigot that you can fill your tank from if you have a 25-foot hose. Theres a nice paved trail along the river to walk your dog, ride a bike, etc. Some of the sites are a bit close together, but all are better than a typical private campgrounds sardine array.

Great place and the staff was superb. The booking process is bad. I just have to remind myself that they cater to South Dakota folks and charge extra for out of staters. I was amazed to find a state park this beautiful and close to Sioux Falls. However, you have to navigate a hilly dirt road peppered with gravel which was a brutal trip for my low-riding class-c toy-hauling RV.During check-in, you will be surprised by varied camping opportunities offered to visiting guests (i.e. RVers, tents, cabin and van dewellers).RV areas have gravel parking pads, designated picknic tables and electricity. You will also find conveniently located trash dumpsters, a RV dump and non-drinkable water station. As well as, a childrens playground on this parks premises. The rangers I encountered were friendly and informative. I spent 4-days in this park and will return in the future.

We love hiking here with our young son. There are many miles of trails to pick from including paved, wooded, riverside, and on a ridge. A favorite is across the wobbly bridge on the Big Sioux and through the archery trail, even without a bow, climbing down ravines to small creeks and back up and over again. There is a play structure and covered picnic tables off the parking lot and disc golf as well.
