We had the most amazing experience at City Winery! The wine is exceptional. It is made on site, amazing! The food was also top notch. I highly recommend the Brussels sprouts and the risotto balls. The entire staff was honestly the most friendly restaurant staff I experienced in a while. Sean was our server and she was so incredibly personable and knowledgeable of the wine. We even got a tour of the entire space. The general manager Charles came by our table to thank us for being there. This is the perfect venue for a wedding or corporate event. The location, staff and wine cannot be beat. Thank you for an awesome Friday night! Cheers!

Cant recommend City Winery enough! Last summer, my girlfriend and I went to their Argentine grape crush and got to experience first hand the beginning stages of the wine making process. The head wine maker, Richard, was extremely helpful and knowledgeable in his craft and you can tell he loves what he does for a living. We were fortunate enough a few weeks ago to get our hands on a couple bottles of the Cobblestone Cabernet Sauvignon that we had helped crush and its was absolutely delicious! Knowing we had a hand in helping make it made it taste that much better. If you are looking for a great wine tasting experience in the Boston area, look no further!

Super impressed by the service at City Winery. My party of 6 went shortly after they reopened a few weeks ago. Theyre taking every precaution to be safe and socially distant, including by taking everyones temperature and spacing out seating. Our wait staff, Kevin and Shawna, were amazingly courteous and kind. We received unexpected complimentary items and had such a great time. Would absolutely return and recommend that others try this place out.

I have gone to City Winery several times- all of which were phenomenal. Richard, the head wine maker, made the experience of trying new wines exceptional. I am typically not one to drink chardonnay, but after trying the chardonnay Richard made, I would drink it everyday. Some friends and I helped crush grapes to make the Cobblestone Cabernet Sauvignon, which was a once in a lifetime experience. Richard made the entire experience fun and exciting while providing astounding insight to the process, where the grapes come from, and how they will come to be wine. He even let us hang out in the back room to try some more wines! Talk about a wonderful host. Richard is astounding at his craft and I look forward to tasting more of the wines he makes.I can not recommend City Winery enough. I look forward to the day of being able to go and drink more wine there!

Amazing atmosphere, great service and delicious Wine.I ordered the duck tacos and the Pinot Noir. One the best food wine pairings I have ever had. At the end of the night I ordered a bottle of the wine to take home and will continue to buy the wine until I die. If you’re new to wine or have an experienced taster City Winery has the best options in the North End. Even after the pandemic, I’ve been ordering their wine online and it is as delicious as ever!

Great atmosphere and phenomenal wines!! I came here with a few girlfriends for a wine night, pre-pandemic and absolutely loved their in house wines. The wine maker actually came out and gave us a behind the scenes tour, he was very knowledgeable and told us all about the new wines they were coming out with this summer. Naturally when I saw the release of these wines online, I had to order a case - just tried the melbec (Old Iron sides) last night and its as delicious as the wine maker described it!! City Winery is a wonderful place offering a small stage for experiencing live music. Depending on whether youre social or the antisocial type, you may be a little surprised.Youll find that youre oftentimes sitting with a large group of people at long tables, especially as you get closer to the stage...This can feel disconcerting if youre used to sitting alone or dining in your own private booth. However, if you can get over the fact that youre near other human beings who are enjoying music, it can be a treat.Youre never that far from the stage and as a result you can see the performers very well the food and the alcohol selection is excellent as was our server. If you want to do additional exploring, youre also incredibly close to the TD Garden the North End and Quincy Market.Although I didnt sample wine from the winery, I did tour the tasting rooms and view the art as well.I can imagine that this would be a fabulous place to hold company outings or events while staying right in the heart of the city.Great job City Winery, I love the concept and the music venue and service was excellent.

Not sure where the negative reviews are coming from. Parking? It’s downtown Boston for goodness sakes! There literally tons of public garages around. Bathrooms in the cellar? Of course they are just like every other Boston restaurant. But these are super clean.Super service both at the bar before hand and in the venue. We had drinks and apps at the bar. $1 oysters 5-7 every night. Nice!As long as you’re inside about an hour before showtime you’re going to get great service. Wait for the show to start and OF COURSE service will slow. It’s dark. Waiters don’t want to interrupt your show. It’s time to respect the music. Not chow down.Anyway. Really nice space. Really clean. Oysters were super fresh. Wines are good. Not great. But really good. Had a Manhattan after my first wine flight. Very nicely crafted.Go early. Take it all in and have a good time.

This place is awesome - you need to try it! I went here (pre covid) for a show, and got a chance to meet the head winemaker, Richard. He offered to show us around the barrel room and talk us through their winemaking process. It was really cool to hear about City Winery’s process and philosophy, and to truly understand where your wine came from. My favorite was the 2018 Pinot noir from sonoma coast, I bought 3 bottles to go! Do yourself a favor and check this place out - and see if Richard is there to talk about the wines!

A friend and I saw a show on Sunday evening. The staff were really friendly but had a difficult time figuring out what food went to what table. They also pack it with seats and tables so the waiters are squeezing by you throughout the night. Pretty good wine collection. We went there to attend a live event and were able to grab good tables. Service was good but could have been even better and hence I cut one star. Maybe Im overly sensitive, but I cannot understand why people like this venue. Ive been to 3 shows here and if you want to be near the stage youre signing up for being so cramped and crammed against strangers, that it just isnt enjoyable. Its also not well controlled volume-wise. I learned all this the first time. After that, I only select bar stools at the back, which is much more pleasant for a busy show. It seems they care more about packing chairs in, rather than the experience of the concert-goers. I come here when a band I love is playing, but not otherwise. We have had dinner here, which wasnt bad. Apple Crisp was very disappointing and tasted like canned apples with soft granola on top. In general, I just dont recommend the venue and dont think the quality is great. Oh well!

A nice place in the Garden / North Station area of Boston. My wife and I went to hear Phil Bailey from Earth, Wind and Fire - one of her favorites. We got good seats in their concert space. There was a good lively crowd. We enjoyed the music. We did feel the sound system didnt handle the vocals well in the first part of the concert, but seemed to get better. Dinner and drinks were good. They have an interesting technique for filling your orders during the concert. You can download their app on your phone and order that way without having to flag down a waiter. Service was quick. They clearly have a well-curated performance schedule tailored to what they think will keep their place busy and so far it is working well. There is also an attractive restaurant / wine bar which we walked through but havent tried out yet.

Somewhat last-minute decision to attend a comedy show for a much needed date night. We arrived early enough to have dinner before the show as is recommended on the website. This venue is either horribly understaffed or completely disorganized- or both. We ordered the burrata right away because we were starving. But the appetizer never came. The manager took our food order. And our server- who clearly had more tables than he could handle- was absent most of the night. The couple in front of us waited almost an hour for food as did the people next to us. My husband ordered a drink that never arrived. It was one mistake after another which made a hopeful (and $200) night out somewhat meh. Concept is great, execution was not. Might go back on the hope that this was a one-off terrible experience.

This is an edited review. I originally left a 1-star review as the seats we received were completely misleading. The seating chart made it look like the seats we chose had a clear view of the stage. Upon arriving, our seats were blocked by a very large column and only a fraction of the stage could be seen. After leaving my original review, I also emailed the venue. I received a response back from the general manager not only apologizing for the experience, but also told me that he and their service manager went to the same seats to see for themselves. After validating my experience they went as far as to change their seating plan so no one else has the same experience. Apologize can go a long way, but taking action is so much better. It shows that they really do care and value the feedback provided to them! Thank you for turning a negative experience into a positive.

If you come here for music, try and get high tables on side or in the back. The floor level chairs are way too hard. Also way too much movement during show. They should limit serving food during the show by having an earlier cut off for orders. Very disruptive. Also you to have to wait well after show is over to get your bill and close your tab. They should have bills ready by the time the show ends. Take a clue from some if the comedy clubs. Nice venue but it needs work.

Single star for the management that essentially didnt want my group there. The saving Grace was the bartender and the box office attendant only. Management copped the biggest attitude when we were actually having a good time and the bartender engaged in some light humor resulting in more laughter. Went to a show last night, seated at one of the very back high-top tables. It was probably a better choice than most of the regular seats; its easy enough to see over the heads of everyone else, and the room really isnt that large, so youre still not too far away. The sound is still really good even at the back, and unlike everyone else seated at the lower tables, you dont have to crane your neck sideways to be able to see the stage. The seats were comfortable, with padding and a good backrest. The food and wine were just ok, not worth the price paid. We got there just as the show was starting and they had already run out of flatbread which was disappointing. The service, though, was very good - prompt, helpful and unobtrusive. Being at the back, you do have to deal with the servers going by you a little bit, but it wasnt distracting.

An interesting place. Went for dinner/concert. There seemed to be a huge disconnect between the bar tenders and venue staff. They did not know much about the box office, or general questions about who was playing or how it worked. They did not know what the special was, and were making drinks by reading a piece of paper. The food was very good, and the menu had a wide range of options. My confirmation email said what time the doors opened, and not what time it started, so we were two hours early. I was also emailed that I was given a free upgrade, which was not passed on to the ushers from management so they could not accommodate me. Its a great location across the street from the t, and parking is nearby too. We have seen two shows here in the last month. This venue is a nice option - provides an intimate setting as the rooms are not large and quite a lot of performances to choose from each month (typically those with lots of hits from a while ago or less mainstream). You can eat before, during or after the show as well. Many acts will also offer a meet and greet at an additional cost which people have enjoyed. Some watchouts: check the Boston Garden schedule before you go as that greatly impacts parking options and garage prices; if an act is very popular, expect the room to be extremely tight (its not the most comfortable seating); they run pretty much on time so get there early as they look each attendees name up and walk you to your seats. Food is ok depending on what you get. Overall I like the concept and the opportunity to see live music for a reasonable price (with no ticketmaster fees).

The one star is for acoustics, which are outstanding. We bought tickets online where it said music started at approx 9:30 which seemed late, but okay, we love Donna the Buffalo, it would be worth the wait. We drove into the city and made our way to the club. We got there around 9:10 and were told the music had already started. When? I asked. Around 8:15 we were told. Unbelievable. For 32.00 per person. And they were finishing by ten or so we were also informed. It got worse. When we were escorted to our seats they were occupied and the people refused to move. The waiter/ticket guy said to follow him outside to discuss. Meanwhile the band was playing and we decided not to miss any more of the show. We sat in the less expensive seats and enjoyed our 45 minutes of music. Will not return. Like I said, really good sound system, too bad they have such poor management.

To get their attention, you put a piece of paper in a slit on top of a wine bottle on the table and they come over in a decent amount of time and take your order.5. Decor- wooden floors. beautiful lighting.6. Seated concertsCons:1. The food could have been better and there wasnt much to choose from. I ordered a tuna sandwich which was decent and a side of fries. The fries were VERY salty (and I love salt but it was too much). I couldnt finish them. If it was toned down slightly, it wouldve been perfect. This was a cool place my husband and I stumbled upon while walking through downtown Boston. When we arrived it was very crowded and the venue just finished hosting a tasting party from Italian wineries. Wish we would’ve caught that, but the bartender greeted us when we walked up to the bar and gave us some time to look over the menu. I was kinda bummed there were no stools at the bar, as we had been walking around all day. My husband ordered a California Merlot and I ordered a custom rosé flight, we both were extremely happy with our choices. We had about an hour of calm crowds, this place is also a music venue so the crowds started pouring in later in the evening. At this pint the staff started being in the stools for ya to sit down, we then ordered a charcuterie board. Wow, very delicious and perfectly paired with our wines. We made great conversations with a local and other tourists. Our bartenders spent most of their time on the other end of the bar where the Italian wine makers were and watching the soccer game. So it took a while to be tended too, but very friendly when they were around. This place is very cool on the inside and made for both a fun and/or romantic atmosphere. I love the city, this is very much a city wine bar. Loved!

As others have said, this is a very well designed space, open and airy, with excellent acoustics. The menu is conservative, not too adventurous, and most things are executed well, particularly the Milanese Pork Chop. But be aware that the portions are very tiny, about a third smaller than even European portions, so its a good idea to treat the main courses as if they were tapas, order several rounds for the table. Service is knowledgeable but can be easily overwhelmed when things get busy, leaving you high and dry for 30 minutes or more.

Concert hall is a nice listening room. Great venue to see and hear a show, which is the most important thing. Food was just OK and too expensive for what you got. Tables are too small for 4 people to hold meals and drinks.

Beautiful facility, spotlessly clean, excellent food (at Boston prices, yes a burger costs $16, sorry) great music and the sound system sounds superb. What’s not to love? Lots of parking garages nearby, this is downtown Boston near the Fleet Center, so yes, it’s going to cost you $40+ to park. That’s just a Boston thing. Or just take public transport or Lyft/Über.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff, beautiful venue, huge bar and seating area. I ordered from the lunch menu - raw section. The wasabi cured salmon and tuna was delicious. Every Rose on the rose flight was perfect.

All I have to say is WOW! Exceptional service by Haley. The venue is stunning - I would definitely recommend City Winery for dinner and/or drinks with friends. 10 out of 10 !

The food was great. Waking distance from TD Garden. However, the menu is on the pricey side.

Fun place to see a concert. Saw Rik Emmett of Triumph. Was fantastic. Good food. Reasonably priced beer.

City winery is an interesting place because it is a restaurant, a winery and a music venu. I think unique is a better word because it is a winery where they make their own wines on site. That being said, I understand that they do their own winemaking, but I was disappointed that with wines by the glass, they only serve wines that they made and they gave you no other options. I wanted a glass of chardonnay and they dont make chardonnay but made a suggestion on a white wine which I did not like. Also, their wines are pricey! Why am I paying $11 for a glass of wine that is made on site and theres no interstate commerce fees or taxes? And it was a small pour on top of it! When I go to California and order wine, it is much cheaper because they make it right there. The same should be for City Winery! Finally, I ordered a cheese burger and it was $16 plus $1 for cheese which I think is too much for a burger. When did burgers became so expensive? The concert was good.

This is a great place to see a show! Staff was friendly, service was good. Menu was fair. Wine list was varied. Within walking distance of a lot of other great places. Garage parking available right across the street. First floor bathroom. Call ahead for handicap accessiblity as the chair lift was broken rendering this location inaccessible.

Nice place and all, but with prices like this you’d think there’d be soap and paper towels in the men’s room. The menu is quite bleak( be sure to eat elsewhere before attending a show).

Defiantly not worth the hype ! Food was alright but the staff... untrained and not knowledgeable at all! One of the workers I believe was named Kyle(blonde hair ,annoying voice) had a horrible stench... ever heard of a shower before work buddy. Way too ruin the experience lol.

Came here over the weekend for a live music event. While the venue itself is nice and intimate for these smaller scale artists, the service leaves little to be desired. It took over 15 min to even make eye contact with a bartender to order a drink, and it WAS NOT busy. Less than half the restaurant was full and plenty of open seats were at the bar. Once we ordered a drink it took another 10-15 min to actually get served and close out. The bartenders were perfectly nice but had no sense of urgency, which was extremely frustrating for people like us trying to get to one of the events on time. Will not be returning.

Food portions were disappointingly small. Sharableplates didnt really offer much. Wait staff was very slow and made a lot of excuses for mistakes. It kind of seems like the huge space is difficult to manage as a restaurant. Music was great! Looks like future shows will be great.

Saw The Verve Pipe show last night! The location is beautiful, the staff was friendly and prompt, the sound is top notch (one of the best sound mixes in the city, and Ive seen shows in a lot of different venues), and the wine was delicious. I was a little nervous after reading some of the earlier reviews (they opened fairly recently, and yes, seating is close, but I had no trouble seeing the stage), but they have definitely worked hard on listening to feedback and fine-tuning to make this a great experience. They are a unique dining and entertainment experience, I hope they do well, and I will definitely be back!

The food was tasty, if over priced. Our waiter unfortunately didnt follow a notification that one of the diners in our party was gluten free. We ordered the honey mustard short ribs, but the waiter didnt either know of the item, or didnt understand the order, and we did not get the item we asked for. The wine list is impressive, and the sommelier gave a great suggestion for the wine we had. The service may have been mediocre due to the musical event going on downstairs.
