Beautiful and easy walk. Love that people were careful with distancing, masks mostly and leashed dogs. Appreciated a bathroom at the trailhead and availability of dog cleanup bags and garbage cans. Well maintained trail.

Great walk, beautiful lakeside trail, easy walk, about 5 miles round trip I think. Most people were wearing masks, all keeping safe distance and all had dogs leashed. Bathroom facility at the trailhead with hand sanitizer. Just perfect for a morning walk

Nice climb up to lookout. A bit steeper beyond but trails are even better if you keep going for another hour or so

A well maintained trail, wide enough for mountain bikes, runners, children, & casual walkers. Many gorgeous views of the lake and areas to stop & take in the scenic beauty that surrounds you....A very popular trail. Great for beginners.

I came up here with a friend on a cloudy day and the view from the top was still fantastic. Its a pretty good hike to go all the way, nearly 5 miles if you take the long way. A great deal of zigzaging of the trails to get to the top. The whole trail is beautiful. Should be good for a dog walk too. Probably only the athletic ones though.

I really enjoy running here as the path is fairly level and wide. Nice views of the lake and mile markers so you can track your progress. Can get crowded on nice days with people strolling along, but thats just because its awesome!

This time going up to the chantarelle outlook, I walked up the truck road instead of the trail. It was a challenging climb, but much shorter. The trail is 2.4 miles about 1000 ft. Climb from the parking lot, the road is 1.5 miles. I made it to the outlook in 35 minutes. This is my favorite hike, it is definitely worth it. The view of lake whatcom is amazing.

A beautiful park on the far side of lake whatcom...foot trails going all over the place...plus easy lake access from parking areas. Another plus you go right by Agate Bay Cafe ...some of the best food in Bellingham..worth the drive ...but wear sensible footwear and have windbreaker and hoody ready for weather changes because it gets chilly in the fall

Fantastic trail system. I like to hike with my dog and this is a nice sysyem of trails that are people and dog friendly. The Hertz trail is nice and level and accessible for everyone with beautiful lake side views. The Chantelle trail is more strenuous with elevation gain and a gorgeous panoramic view of Lake Whatcom at the top. Highly recommended.

Good easy access trail. Varies from shaded to south sun exposure along the edge of the lake. Old railroad bed means flat and fairly wide...Ok for mobility limited walkers or chairs. Enough traffic to keep you from feeling lonely but still quiet.
