Plenty of parking, gravel lot and near the road. Trail was maintained, had doggy poo bags for your fur babies and 3 different trail loops. 2.0 miles, 200 ft gain and a whole lot of beautiful trees. Youll eventually get to Squire lake, choose to go right or left. Right will give you a bit more elevation gain and runs along south rim trail, then connects to beaver loop trail.Saw several groups of people and fur babies using the trail. Awesome for a quick hike in town

Trailhead parking is directly off the old 99 hwy on your left side. Theres a sign as you approach maybe 3/4-1/2 a mile to the trailhead. The trailhead parking is a one way loop parking lot just above and off old hwy 99. It fits about 10 cars with off street parking for maybe 4 more cars at the bottom.

Awesome hiking so beautiful! No technically difficult trails but a decent ascent. Moderate work out

Trail doesnt seem too accurate on google maps, but the trail zig zags up a steep hill to the lake. There is also a turnoff to the left, on the way to Squires lake. It leads to a falls, which is dry at times. The ridge trail off to the right runs along a cliff, so be careful.

Nice short hike. Beautiful scenery, nice little lake. Mild elevation gains. Would be fine for most kids, and dog walking. Didnt look like much access for fishing.

Its a beautiful place with options for both beginner and experienced hikers. The drawbacks are heavily traveled trails and people not obeying leash laws.

Great shorter hike, peaceful lake setting when there is not too much traffic.

Great hike for all ages! Challenging enough to feel like exercise but even my almost 4 year old was about to do it. He was ready to go back down when we got to the falls but the rest of us could have gone further.

It is a really short hike but has great views and other trails connecting to it so you can do more if you want. The incline to get to the lake is the only struggle for beggininers but the rest of the loop is pretty simple ups and downs.

An easily accessible 2 or 4 or 9 miles depending on what loops you take or if you go to the Alger Alp or not.

Lovely loop trails after a moderate steep climb. Some slick spots where leaves landed on wet smooth rock. The view is worth it.

The trails are a nice walk in the woods - well marked. The lake is very pretty with several vantage point benches.

Good, easy hike. Been here a few times. Good for the entire family, plus dogs! Its a loop trail, plus a few side branch off the main path trail, all well marked. Into geo-caching? You might find a treat along the path. Remember to bring something to offer

Wonderful views. Steep switchback but worth it for the easy part around the lake, several benches make enjoying the sounds and sights easy. Saw goats, dogs abd horses. My kids all enjoyed and did not find it too exhausting. Short on parking in the lot but additional along the road.

This place was absolutely gorgeous! It was a great mix between hiking and walking. For the first part going up to the lake it was more like a hike but walking around the lake was really easy and so peaceful. We hiked it with our 3 month old and it was perfect.

I love this trail around Squires Lake. It connects with the Pacific Trail. The trail up to the lake is switch-backy but short. Its great for kids and dogs!

This trail is, at first, almost treacherously steep in parts, so wear shoes that grip. About halfway up to the lake theres a straightaway with large moss covered boulders on both sides, very peaceful. After that its not quite as steep. Once you get up to the lake itself you realize that was a pre-walk, as there are a myriad of trails around the lake and surrounding area, including a beaver dam you can walk completely around, and if you dont feel like more walking, theres a bench that overlooks Squires Lake, excellent photo opportunities. Theres wandering deer, rabbits, and sometimes you can even glimpse beavers swimming around. Warning, I wouldnt suggest walking back down in the dark as its very wooded, so if you dont have a flashlight, tread carefully.

I love this park. I would give it a higher rating, however..the parking lot is frequented by thieves..cars are often vandilized here. I wish a web cam was aimed over the parking lot to deter the crime

Excellent park, hiking trails, and scenery, especially in the fall with the colorful leaves reflecting off the lake. Magical!

Yes, the parking lot is fairly small (less than 10 cars) Also, there is only a porta-potty, that is located in the parking area, so make sure to use it if you need to!All things aside, this is a beautiful & pretty private place with a dog friendly vibe. The trailhead switchbacks on the way in are steep, but they are well established and there are not too many. Once you reach the lake the trail around is fairly kind with small elevation changes. There is a nice trail system with several miles of hiking or biking as it does connect into the Pacific NW Trail and continue for as long as you desire. I would recommend, water, hiking shoes/boots, and a visit to this place!

It wasnt hard at all to find this trail, a nice little hike up some switchbacks to a beautiful lake. There are a few little off shoots to take but otherwise a nice short hike, easy to take little ones or dogs on.

Parking space is somewhat limited, but convenient right off old highway 99. The trail itself is quite steep and full of switchbacks, but the lake at the top is beautiful and definitely worth the climb.
