This is a great quiet hidden gem away from the bustling crowds of Acadia National Park. Since Indian point preserve is not part of the national Park it draws less attention from tourists and offers a much more secluded and quiet hike out to the ocean. The trail itself is gorgeous and mossy and the beach is full of large rocks to climb on and explore several small tide pools. Though we did not see any seals, many locals say its a great spot to look for them. I recommend going just before low tide.

Well worth the trip to this little known site with an awesome feeling of seclusion at trails edge. Off the beaten path from most of Mt. Desert Island but pretty easy to get to. 1mi. one way to shoreline, with a steep descent about half way in, but mostly level to start and finish. Abundance of tree roots and rocky narrow trail. Our 5yr. old handled it well, but you may want to rethink it for kids under 5 or around that age if they have little hiking experience. Most of the trail is shaded. Thanks to the TNC for preserving this gem.

The trail to the preserve was nothing special and honestly a little disappointing when compared to the shoreline waiting at the end. Gorgeous at the shore though. Tons of rocks and places to climb, few people (we saw maybe half a dozen in 2 hours.) I wish we had brought binoculars and more bug spray! Hard to see the sea lions sunbathing out on the rocks and my daughter ended up with a tick on her arm so be prepared!

It was great. Two other cars in the lot but never saw anyone. Wear your hiking boots- lots of roots and rocks. Google maps does not take you to the trailhead, it wants you to go beyond the parking lot, but easy to see where you should go. Very quiet trail on a very busy island!

The 1.5 mile hike through the woods was pleasant enough, but nothing special. However, the endpoint was a very pleasant rocky beach with almost no one around. Thought we may have seen a seal pop up its head near the rocks. Dipped our toes and enjoyed the very scenic views.

Nice hike in, not strenuous but often uneven. Saw several seals but binoculars helped; saw two deer, osprey, and heard an interesting bird we couldnt identify. Found crabs at the shoreline feeding on squid. Ocean breeze was perfect; definitely bring the bug spray for the woods.

We made the Preserve the first hike of our annual vacation on MDI two years ago. I had read the reviews of the trail and that it had no views and a lot of roots. So not favoring that, we went down the road. Very easy hike to the shore. Some nice chairs are provided at some spots. We didnt see any seals the day we went, but still a worthwhile visit. Great views!

Low traffic trail. A hidden gem. Great wooded trails that lead to the shore. We spotted several seals on the distant rocks.

Beautiful hike through the woods though it is full of exposed roots, you can take the road down to the shore if you want an easier way

The most amazing moss Ive seen in my life. The trail is relatively easy with rocks, slippery roots, and some hills but no scrambles. The suggested donation is $2.

Beautiful trail, beautiful park. A perfect escape from the summer crowds at the better known spots. Quiet but for the birds, critters, and wind through the trees.

This trail is a bit decieving. Based on the reviews we thought it would be an easy walk through the woods to the shore, however there are many large rocks and many roots along the trail with some slight elevation changes so if you have any balance issues you may want to consider the Wonderland trail or carriage trails. But a birders paradise!

The 1.2mi hike through the coniferous forest to the shore is full of exposed roots and mildly rocky terrain. Theres plenty of gorgeous moss fields and fallen conifers along the route to look at, but the real reward is the beautiful shoreline. With a 26lb 1.5 year old on my back, I walked one way in about 30min. The way to the shore is mostly downhill and the return hike out is mostly uphill. Didnt spot any seals or extravagant birds, but I didnt have binoculars handy. As of August 2018, the suggested donation is $2.

Beautiful. Nice and quite, less visited than the national Park. We saw some seals in the distance. The beach was Rocky like most of the others, but with a wide variety of rocks.

This is a nice, quiet walk to the water. NOT necessarily easy, significant exposed roots and uneven terrain. Need to have good shoes and be modestly fit. I noticed a one group struggling. It is not a soft pine needle walk in the woods.

This is one of the very special places on the island to hike to see seals on the island. Go early and be patient. Definitely worth it.

Affiliated with the Nature Conservancy, the Blagden Preserve is a great spot for a short hike down to a cove. The woods are thick and mossy and open up on to a small grassy area on the water. Great spot for a picnic.
