We stopped here during one of our visits to Acadia. It was o.k., but it was my least favorite place in all of Acadia. There were a lot of plants, so I suppose if youre into that sort of thing, you may enjoy it more than I did. There was a nice, plank/boarded walkway allowing for an easy stroll through the woods. There was a gift shop or something there, but it was closed, so I dont know if that would have improved my experience here or not. Overall, not bad, but there are many other things to do that are more suited for my taste.

Quite a small garden, we looked at many plants and read the signs and such but still took us under 1h. Most people just walk through... so, I suppose it can take even shorter. I have learn many different types of ferns there. Nicely cared for and there is a pretty, very flat marsh walk just by it. Though, be prepared. A lot of mosquitoes!!! We also saw two deers on that walk.

This place is incredible! Easily my favorite place to visit in the whole park. Beautifully manicured garden, and everything here is native and usually labelled. Turned out to be very helpful to have pics of many of the plants from the gardens as we did some hiking in the park. I cant wait to visit again.

A great place to learn the flora of Acadia. Flowers, plants and trees are in the 13 appropriate habitats that can be found throughout the park. All labeled and some with QR codes to learn event more. Great childrens activities and knowledgeable staff. In the park but managed by a mighty group of volunteers on the Wild Gardens of Acadia committee and made possible by Friends of Acadia.

The garden path was lovely, showcasing a lot of the different flora in the park. The major draw for me in the area was the trails, though! We went on a guided bird watch hike, keeping an ear and an eye open for birds as we went. This is a fantastic area to see Red Eye Vireos, Turkey Vultures, and plenty of warblers and Gold Finches. We even were lucky enough to see an American Bittern land in a swamp area, a first sighting for the area! Make sure to call and reserve a spot if you want to join on the bird watch - information available on the National Parks Service website.

Nice place with the natural wild flowers of Maine. It is kinda short, so most people are do e with the walk in about 15 to 30 minutes.

This is a really neat garden maintained by volunteers. Cool walk with a lot of flowers and plants. There is a creek that travels through it and plenty of seating within. This is ok for small light walks. Beautiful and well-marked plants. The shuttle runs from here in the summer.

The Wild Gardens of Acadia is inside Acadia National Park. This was one of our stops while on a tour of the park. This was our second stop, which we had about 20 minutes to explore. Our visit here was on October 2, 2019.There is a nature center at the entrance to the Wild Gardens of Acadia. Inside, there are staff to help answer any questions, as well as visual displays of the history and future of the area. There is an emphasis of climate change in some of the exhibits in there as well. Definitely take some time to stop in here.It was time to explore the gardens. The weather was overcast with temperatures in the low 50s as a cold front had just passed through the area that morning. Even though the sun wasnt out, there were some great views to be had here. There were many different native flora throughout the gardens. There was some fall color, but it was too early for the full effect of the fall colors. While exploring the gardens, there were lots of different views to be had. There was not enough time to really take in everything here on this visit, but what was seen was beautiful. Areas were broken out and noted the type of flora that could be seen in each section of the gardens. There are quite a few paths that you can go through here as well. There are some good water views here as well, including a pond. Im not sure if it had to do with the weather, but there werent any animals or creatures out during my brief visit here.Overall, this was a beautiful place to visit. Before coming here, some others online said that it wasnt worth visiting. I totally disagree with that. This was a great place to visit and see the local native species here in their natural habitat. Time got away from me while visiting. If we had a longer time here, I would have definitely continued to explore longer. If your travels take you through Acadia National Park, coming here with your camera is definitely a must. The scenery alone is worth it.

If you’re into your botanicals then ensure you stop here. There are multiple habitats stocked and labelled with many plant species. We were there in July 2018 and they had clearly had a disastrous winter with once in 25 and the 50 year events. There were even reports of people skating on the ice on what used to be carefully tended plants. That said the volunteers were working hard to help the garden recover.Even if you have young ones this is a good stop in Acadia national park because they have a junior botanist scavenger hunt for them to do.

Good representation of Acadia through a small garden!! Or call this a cheat sheet.A must visit place before you go sightseeing of Acadia. Every tree and Bush you would see all around the mountains and valleys is sampled here.I understood the flora and fauna of this rich habitat better while hiking.

The gardens are wonderful place to stop, though you cannot take your dogs into the garden itself. To make things worse if you go there in the summer, there are several blueberry bushes in the garden is well, loaded with perfect berries and a sign that says please do not pick the blueberries. Its almost cruel. There are also public bathrooms right off of the parking lot, which its really convenient. Its a great place to park if your want to hike the Jessup trail, or go over to the Tarn and do Kirk Detrichs climb.

Hard to surpass the natural beauty of the Acadia region, but this place manages it. The varieties of plants they had were not uncommon (astilbe, day lillies, zinnias, etc), but they are beautiful nonetheless. I got loads of great photos, too. Entrance fee is a voluntary $5. The driveway to the garden is very narrow, so I wouldnt try driving anything bigger than an SUV.
