Great hike! Amazing views! Trail is well marked and easy to navigate. The trail provides breathtaking views of the ocean as you ascend the trail. Highly recommended!

Such a beautiful walk. Being your water and trail food along, it is not short. We, though, probably took longer also because of the baby we were carrying. The view at the top is amazing.

Great hike - From here, you can connect into a bunch of different trails and hike all over the eastern side of Acadia

Great hike for younger kids. I took my 1st grader and she loved the experience of rock scrambling, and it was easy enough for her to handle.Very short, but great views at the top.

Nice trail. Rocky in places and steep enough for a good workout but not overbearing. If you complete the trail as a loop you can get just under 4 miles in. Great views at the top for such a short hike. Made it to the summit in under an hour.

If you’ve gone to any national parks or mountains of consequence then you’ll be forced to accept this park and trails as a slightly less captivating force, maybe... Or maybe it’s as grand as any other beautiful thing all in its own way. As far as seaside national parks and hikes in the states there aren’t so many to pick from. Washington state has some strong hikes in this regard but I found Acadia and Maine to be a charm, a visually striking quiet place with a different energy all together as you look out toward Nova Scotia and the arctic north. Imagine what’s out there as you stand on ancient stones and islands and forest of green trees below. It’s a wonderful experience and I would say this trail is one of the best overall in the park. Enjoy!

Variable difficulty of the path. Very picturesque, breathtaking view. The trail can be slippery after rain.

One of the most fun, moderately difficult hikes in Acadia. There are places that require careful stepping over large boulders that may be slippery on wet days, but our group all managed okay. Young children may need a little assistance at times, but it’s doable. The well-marked trail and the views richly reward everyone who travels this 500+ foot ascent and descent. One tip: you can park at the trailhead, climb to the top and descend down part of the Bowl path that leads to the Sand Beach parking lot. Then catch the 3 or 4 bus back to the trailhead. Just tell the driver and they should be willing to let you out there because it’s not an official bus stop.

Definitely one of our favorite hikes on MDI! Remember to wear your keens if climbing after a heavy rain! There are many boulders and at times it seems that you are headed up a streambed.

This is a nice hike with some boulders and climbing but not too difficult. You can join up with The Bowl trail and come down to Sand Beach and work your way back down via the sea side trail.

The Gorham Mountain loop is one of the best hikes at Acadia. Start here and head up the mountain for stunning views, then down the other side and return on the coastal trail. Catch Thunder Hole on the way back as a bonus.

This was a beautiful hike, not too hard, but not a piece of cake either. We started from Sand Beach. The beginning from Sand Beach is very rocky and primitive, not what most would think of a trail as. Eventually, it becomes flatter and becomes more of an established trail. When you finally get up to the top of Gorham Mountain, it is basically a large plain of exposed rock with great views. You can see out into the ocean, as well as back to Sand Beach. From Sand Beach to the Gorham Mountain Trailhead probably took about 45min-1hour for a moderate pace.

This is a short hike to the summit 525 high but only about 300 of climbing. Fairly easy but there are a lot of rocks and roots to traverse on your way up. The views on the way up are stunning. A must do if you are in Acadia for a week. You can do this and end with beehive or go down to ocean path. Parking is difficult so take the island explorer. Bring water and snacks and enjoy the adventure. @adventurekrewe #adventurekreweIf you read this review give us a thumbs up please.

Great hiking trail, loop that takes you from the rocky coast and beaches of Acadia to the hills. Very nice views and inspiring rock formations on the way. Enough shade to even do it on a sunny summer day. Absolutely one of the things to do during a stay at Acadia NP.

Gorham Mountain is an excellent short hike nearby Thunder Hole and Sand Beach in Acadia National Park. Gorham is an easy hike for most people and is great choice for families with small children in the ~5 year old age range or hikers who just want to take it easy. There are great views across Sand Beach and Otter Cliffs. Connecting trails provide access to the Bowl and to Beehive. I suggest hikers park at the Gorham trail head, summit Gorham Mountain, descend Gorham heading north to Sand Beach, and then hike the ocean foot path along side the loop road back to your car at the Gorham trail head.
